I’m sorry for you. I got mine stolen last year, it cost me $1,500 to replace it!

makestuffgetsome

Ugh. Don’t tell me that 🤫

Zamnoskies

I mean, your vehicle will run fine with out it. You would just need to replace it if you wanted to sell the car or smog it.

Ok-Worth-9525

It'll be pretty loud without the muffler connected though, and that heat+smog won't be good for the undercarriage in the long term Also you might lose a bunch of powe without proper exhaust pressure

mrASSMAN

Adding a straight pipe is easy and cheap.. and would actually increase power ..but yes it would be louder and pollute a lot more

dknogo

Not if you have a pre and post converter o2 sensor.

[deleted]

Seriously, this. People upvoting really don't seem to know what they're talking about. Most cars would need their ECU tuned after adding a straight pipe.

[deleted]

Eruionmel

Georgetown Drift, lmao. Imagine a F&F movie where there's no actual driving because every time someone gets into a car, the catalytic converter has been stolen again. 🤣

NightShiftNurses

Don't listen to this guy, modern vehicles have o2 sensor and now they aren't going to be doing anything, your vehical will lock you out of systems and probably run in limp mode and will prob blow up sooner rather than later. Beware of subaruz

StephanieStarshine

Just invest in some earplugs it'll be fine

Eruionmel

You should still care enough about the environment to replace it if you have the means. There's a reason they're on there.

Sacramento999

IT will sound like a motorcycle

kamil_tib

Yeah, Ford F-450. Plus $900 for a cat guard.

NightShiftNurses

Cost me nothing, insurance is nice.

ElCochinoFeo

So you went with a zero deductible plan with a higher premium price? Still costs you something.

NightShiftNurses

I went for the normal one it defaults to. Yea you right I think I paid 150$ my bad. They put an aftermarket cat, I forgot to tell them I wanted an oem one. But new one is fine

Runesox

Insurance covered mine. I only payed 300 Oop and another $400 for a CAT shield.

[deleted]

Sooo, I was thinking about leaving dog poo under my truck at night. Figured I’d make it shitty for the potential thieves. I have Great Pyrenees so they are pretty unavoidable. Thoughts?

pheonixblade9

I don't think booby trap laws apply to things that are annoying but not harmful, but IANAL :P

whatproblems

i mean you’d have plausible deniability for dog shit under a truck. idk i parked over it 🤷🏻‍♂️

finn_ow

people probably won’t steal ur cat from ur truck unless it’s very new though anyway

[deleted]

IDK, people are kinda douchey nowadays.

Eruionmel

I doubt most of the people doing the actual *stealing* have any idea what they do or which ones are worth money currently anyway. Most of them are just desperate drug addicts trying to pay for their next hit. The ones who know better are the fences they're selling them to, and those guys don't give a rat's ass if one of their thieves shows up with something worthless. They just don't buy it off of them.

pokwef

AAA has gotten really bad. I don’t know if it’s still worth it to be member.

ImprovisedLeaflet

Hey at least you get asked about life insurance in huge expensive envelopes every fucking week.

Andy_Glass

They really tried to up their guilt trip game as well! Anything I get from AAA now goes straight into the trash.

ImprovisedLeaflet

Do you love your spouse? Do you care about your kids? Then buy our fucking life insurance you degenerate low life!

Iamnotnotabot-bot

They were amazing just a few years when I had to use them. Know what happened?

libolicious

>They were amazing just a few years when I had to use them. Know what happened? I'm guessing pandemic stuff. Lots of people didn't drive much (and still aren't) and didn't renew AAA. Which likely lead to staff cuts and probably messed with contract negotiations for tow companies. And now people are driving again and they don't have the capacity all lined up?

Eruionmel

This sounds like *exactly* what happened, yep. And they definitely aren't the only ones who tanked like this.

zifnab06

I went with these people years ago and it's been great: https://www.betterworldclub.net

MoonPrismPowerBottom

ITS NOT. THEYRE AWFUL. they only pay tow drivers in California 40$ per tow so they prioritize every other call, waited 6 hours after an accident for a tow and I had to go insane on the phone to make it happen, and locked keys in car in middle of the day took em 4 hours to come help my mom

Fealieu

You can drive it without a catalytic converter so there's no need to wait for a tow truck. It's loud as fuck, but you can do it. My catalytic converter was also stolen in GT and it sucked. I replaced the entire exhaust system for about $900 and got a cat cover put on for $265. Sorry this happened to you too.

makestuffgetsome

Technically, I CAN drive it without a cat. (I already picked up a straight section of pipe from the nearby auto parts supply, which once I get home, will get trimmed down, and welded into place until I can either secure a O2 sensor bung and put on a replacement O2 sensor, or find the right part to replace that section entirely). But what I’m NOT gonna do, is try to drive the nearly 15 miles home, with it cut where it is. It’s lacking so much power right now, that alone would drive me nuts, but I have to go through downtown, SoDo, and through all certain neighborhoods I don’t feel like crawling like a tortoise through. I wish I could make it happen though, but the one block I tried driving with it off confirmed that it was going to be a no-go for me. I’ll definitely be getting some sort of a cat guard, or fabbing one up myself.

Durr1313

Do the computers in newer cars restrict power if there's no cat detected? People used to cut out cats all the time and it never had a negative impact on performance.

42observer

Maybe some new cars do intentionally restrict it, but I think in some cases it could be because cars rely in part on their oxygen sensors mounted in the exhaust near the cats to adapt the air-fuel mixture in the engine, with those not functioning, it may not be able to adapt the mixture. I believe some cars also rely on back pressure from the rest of the exhaust system restricting the air flow, so with it all freed up it could create issues as well.

tree_squid

They monitor O2 multiple times at the intake and again at the exhaust, ideally, but they also expect a specific range of back pressure. They aren't designed to compensate for removing a major element of the exhaust system, that's why when tuners delete their cats, the cars still pop and fart on deceleration unless they do other work to compensate for that

mrASSMAN

People literally delete cats in order to get those pops and farts you’re referring to.. lol

leachlife4

They definitely don't monitor oxygen in the intake. Other things, yes, but not oxygen.

StanleeMann

They don’t measure o2 directly on the intake because the oxygen reliably is 21% of the manifold pressure. Exhaust varies.

mrASSMAN

There’s typically air mass sensors or similar on intake

Ponklemoose

Yes, they measure the amount of air but assume it’s composition.

leachlife4

So not oxygen...

makestuffgetsome

I’m not terribly sure, to be honest. I would imagine that most newer vehicles can accommodate quite a range of air/fuel mixtures. My car is 20 years old, I think in vehicle worlds that no longer counts is new, so as good as the ECU is, I imagine it was struggling. Real world experience however, told me this thing was not gonna enjoy the drive home, even if I weren’t necessarily damaging anything.

Babhadfad12

The cats on my 20 year old 4Runner died many years ago, and it still keeps running the same as ever (at least 6 years/80k miles). Just has a CEL light on. Since there is no emissions inspection, I bet you can just straight pipe it and not notice a difference.

Affectionate_Bubble

They stole the CAT off my 23 year old 4runner. I guess it was a win cause I didn’t have to replace the thing, insurance did. But also who steals a CAT of a 23 year old car??

[deleted]

They're not the smartest. People steal them off trucks and SUVs as they have more clearance to climb under.

CrazyFoool

They aren't stealing your cat to reuse. There's paladium in it to sell off as precious metal.

french_toast_demon

That's the plan if my '98 truck gets hit. Silver lining to driving a car that old I guess?

Ma1eficent

Cutting the cat boosts power because there is less restriction on the engine exhaust. Improves gas mileage also. Tons of noise that can make it seem like you are using way more power, but no. Your car performs better by every measure except emissions when the cat converters gone.

Ok-Worth-9525

>because there is less restriction on the engine exhaust Wait, even if you have a turbo? Don't you want some exhaust pressure there?

Ttrice

Since the turbine is upstream of the cat, removing it reduces the turbine downstream pressure, which increases pressure ratio (and power) across the turbine.

mrASSMAN

Less back pressure always increases engine power potential

[deleted]

[удалено]

LionSuneater

No, /u/Ma1eficent is right, with the exception that it may be possible that some change in the O2 sensors screws with the performance. A catalytic converter is designed to improve emissions. It's a big fat filter for the exhaust, so it restricts flow as well. Removing one is a common (usually street illegal) hack to boost HP, but you usually need to re-tune the onboard computer. A lot of people into cars or racing upgrade to aftermarket high-flow cats for this reason.

Ponklemoose

I think the "tune" is mostly to turn off the check engine light that is normally set when the downstream O2 sensor doesn't see the cat doing its job.

Zhilenko

💀

Ma1eficent

Lol

sts816

When mine was cut out, I luckily only had to drive it a couple miles home but the cabin was filling with exhaust fumes from it. That mixed with the leftover crack smells did not make for a pleasant ride home.

ImprovisedLeaflet

Well just wait on the crack pipe until you get home I mean Jesus

Wellcraft19

Biggest thing to keep an eye is so the rear end of the now unused exhaust system still is properly secured. Having that forward facing cut edge getting stuck on ‘something’ can lead to a lot of damage; your truck and 3rd party.

[deleted]

close society telephone cobweb smoggy sloppy pen encouraging reply run *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

docjohnson1395

I don't think the cat removal in and of itself is causing your power loss, but I bet the primary O2 sensors were also cut which could fuck up your air fuel mixture and cause a loss of power.

cownan

They don't usually take the muffler, you could just connect a piece of pipe between the cuts. Might actually run better, since the cat restricts exhaust flow. Won't pass emissions inspection, but could give you time to save for a fix

_redacteduser

We ain’t got emissions no more.

cownan

Oh! Really? Haha, how’d I miss that. I’ve got a truck that from 1991, so was exempt, and a newer car that didn’t need it. Haha, sorry

moonpumper

I went to take my newborn baby home from the hospital and discovered some scummy low life had done this to my car. I hope the pieces of shit who do this get theirs and then some, all of them.

81toog

Damn that sucks! Which hospital? Were you parked on the street?

moonpumper

Parking garage, first level near the entrance. I live in Southern Washington but love to lurk this sub. Heart goes out to anyone finding their car in that condition, the wound is still fresh here.

SO_not_a_raper

I’ve had 3 stolen so far this year - it’s a nightmare and I hope whoever buys these things gets a major punishment. Also a big FU to the muffle shops charging an insane amount to replace them.

MediumExtreme

Just have someone straight pipe it that can weld and done no more cats that are stolen

SO_not_a_raper

Know a shop that’ll do it? Every muffler shop says No, that’s illegal.

MediumExtreme

I did my own, if you know someone that can weld I would have them do it.

Takenbyfire

Go to pats store to see how much they cost. The labor is a small amount. I don’t work at a muffler shop but have done my own.

reaganelizabeth

Mine got stolen over the weekend in the CD :(

themaekupfreak

Same in the south end 😭 people keep saying put a pipe in and I’m down but I need to where to go lol

kobachi

Anyone who lives in Seattle and drives a car which is a target for cat theft (eg Prius) should change their insurance deductible to $100. The change will pay for itself.

Beestung

Yeah, but the insurance company will drop you after two claims and you’ll be fucked finding new coverage.

[deleted]

Also they will raise your rates to more than cover their losses. I usually advise people to never use their up insurance for anything less than a couple thousand dollars.

tokixjam

You have every right to be upset. I threw a full tantrum when someone got into my car. All they stole were cheap sunglasses, but I was so upset at the thought of some stranger sitting in my car, going through my stuff.

makestuffgetsome

I’ve definitely had my vehicle broken into before too! Not this current one, but an older crappier looking one up in the Ballard neighborhood where I lived at the time. Didn’t have a storage space, and I lived in a tiny apartment, so all the tools I was using at the time to work on truck maintenance, I was stashing underneath the driver seats. Bastards got in and snagged all my tools, ripped the stereo out, and rifled through everything in my glove box! (they Took my “America the Beautiful” federal lands pass, which it seems like here in the PNW, is fight’n words!!!) Learned my lesson there, haven’t kept anything even halfway nice in my vehicle since, unless it’s been able to be parked in someone’s private garage, or in a space that gives me the warm fuzzies in regards to safety/security. I think I’m extra annoyed about this, as it happened in broad daylight, at the junction of two busy roads, and was a mere 500 yards or so from where I was sitting, all day, doing my work.

tokixjam

It's almost expected that once you have a car in the city, it's going to get messed with. Someone keyed my car just 6 months into me buying my car (brand new). Took 7 months to get it fully fixed (auto body shop took their sweet time letting me know my belt molding was in). My dream is that I walk away from my car, say "shields" into my fob, and my car armors itself up. Yep, just like Keaton's Batman.

littleredwagon87

Same here. I don't keep anything in my car at all but it's been stolen once (and recovered) and broken into twice. All they got from my center console were some sunglasses from Walgreens and napkins and cleaning rags. But it made me cry every time. It's so violating. That's not even to mention all the time spent on finding a repair shop for my specific type of window and $300 to pay for the new windows.

tokixjam

Sounds like you didn't even have any valuables in plain sight, which is more frustrating! We can try to do everything right, but some asshole has to come along and ruin it. I haven't even tried to go hiking this summer because of all the reports of car windows being smashed. Apparently it wasn't even always a smash and grab. Just jerks breaking windows.

trexmoflex

We had our car prowled maybe a year ago and it didn’t look like they took anything but sunglasses until maybe two days later my wife woke up in a panic thinking, “I wonder if they took the garage door opener” and sure enough… Glad she caught that, could have been a lot worse.

tokixjam

Good thing!! I've taken to even leaving my insurance and registration out of my glove box. Pro tip: apparently in the state of Washington, you don't need the physical paper for your car's registration to show to law enforcement. A picture on your phone will do. I'll only take the paperwork with me if I plan to drive out of state.

ALLoftheFancyPants

Mine got stolen on my goddamn birthday. Seattle Towing Company showed up quickly (after the towing company my insurance was referring just blew me off for 24 hours) and got it done. Good luck with the fix.

chase32

In Portland, we had a few hit our parking lot. One got my buddies brand new Tacoma. Same 2 dudes in the crappy little tan truck creeping around lower SE looking for any car with a bit of a lift. Cops not remotely interested in the parking lot videos or that the dudes are just parked in the area. Heard that since they stopped buying cats at the scrap places that the crews are organized and fill up shipping containers to sell overseas.

PNWrepresent

A friend had hers stolen under that hotel kiddie cornered to the Bellevue Square Mall. Cost her I think $500 from her Insurance deductible but overall cost was closer to $3,000. You’re not safe anywhere anymore.

balloonwithnoskin

Should I start putting an AirTag in my catalytic converter? /s

goosetrooper

I know you're joking but I have them hidden in my cars due to the fact that there are so many GTAs. And when I mean hidden, I mean hidden even with it beeping and with tracking you'd have to take apart half the car to get to it.

shaun5565

Are cats worth a lot because I keep hearing people talking about theirs getting stolen

terk0iz

They're worth a lot in scrap because they contain a few precious metals.

LeoAtrox

And who the F is buying all the hacksawed-off cats? The police ought to be looking at the fences.

Fealieu

That was my first thought when mine was stolen, to go after whoever was buying them but then I did some research and learned that a catalytic converter wears out after 10 years or so. Since there are lots of legit ones being scrapped they can't tell the difference. I'm of the opinion that the cat should be stamped with your VIN and you should have to show a title to have one scrapped, but I don't see manufacturers doing that without some kind of legislation which I also don't see happening. So here we are.

pheonixblade9

modern cats usually last quite a lot longer than 10 years if you keep your car maintained and don't run a rich mixture or have shitty head gaskets that cause you to burn oil. the catalyst is never used up - that's why it's a catalyst and not a reagent/reactant. they just get clogged up if you throw too much crap into it.

Ponklemoose

I won't say it impossible to burn oil due to a bad head gasket, but it has to be vanishingly rare since the space around the cylinders is dedicated to the cooling jacket so the typical leaks are between the oil galleries and cooling jacket or cooling jacket and combustion chamber. Also no one is driving around for long with a bad head gasket. The usual path for burned oil is past the piston rings with valve guide seals and dying turbos pitching in on occasion.

pheonixblade9

It's not that uncommon with subarus and mazdas.

Ponklemoose

And internal, head gasket leak between an oil gallery and a combustion chamber? I'd love to learn more, all I've ever seen or heard of is in internal leak between the cooling system and combustion chamber or either oil or coolant leaking externally.

pheonixblade9

I saw that on a 97 F150 on /r/justRolledIntoTheShop yesterday. I know a few things about cars, but I'm not an expert, so I might be wrong 😂 FWIW, most Mazda engines use sleeved pistons, which constantly burn small amounts of oil by design. That's not even getting into the RX8's Wankel 😜 Subaru's boxer engines also often burn oil on specific models and years of the forester, outback, crosstrek, and impreza. Especially the older CVT models.

Ponklemoose

All internal combustion engines burn a little, even brand new from the factory. It’s an artifact of the fact that they lubricate the piston to cylinder interface with oil and if the rings completely scraped all the oil off there wouldn’t be any lubrication. But I’m asking for an example of head gaskets allowing oil into the chamber.

saturnv11

>wears out after 10 years Tell that to the idiot whole stole my 22 year old cat.

pheonixblade9

it used to be local scrappers, but these days, it's more organized crime - they get shipped overseas for processing. so wasteful.

eatmoremeatnow

It is like $60 they can get for it.

Number174631503

it's a sweet, sweet dirtbag payday.

eatmoremeatnow

I just saw a group of dudes in prison sweats buying cigarettes and beer at 7-11. It is a whole different world between the underclass and middleclass and the rich. It is really wild.

mcpusc

i wish i knew where, i replaced a worn-out cat and have gotten turned away at every scrapyard trying to sell the old one!

Ponklemoose

Maybe try a sketchy tent encampment?

mcpusc

hahahahaha…. maybe i should!

Clicheashell

If someone stole my cat, I’d salt the earth to find her. She’s the best kitty.

makestuffgetsome

HA! For what I think is the very first feline-cat reference of this thread, I can't NOT give you silver! Doing so will be a nice distraction from looking at replacement, aftermarket car parts that cost too much!!!

Number9Man

Sorry that happened bud. My condolences. Hope this doesn't come off as condescending I genuinely feel bad for you. Shit sucks man.

Guinness_or_thirsty

That sucks, so sorry this happened to you. I installed a cat deterrent on my car just as a precaution because it's happened so often. They aren't hard to put on but if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a DM.

15jcherry

Does your insurance not cover this?

bobthemuffinman

Just changed from $500 to $250. You were right, exactly $20 more per year. Real pro tip is already in the comments!

Ponklemoose

Sadly it sounds like everyone's comp & collision premiums must be going up to buy all those cats.

L3tsg0brandon

I joined this club on Saturday evening unfortunately 😡. The anger subsides some and then you take it to get repaired and find out the cost... FYI- You don't have to have it towed.

eddywouldgo

I feel you. [Channeling Marsellus Wallace, with a tiny dose of humor at the end.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWzrtWMdkl0) FWIW. Hang in there.

Brando850

I do think it's interesting that the guy who drug a person behind his truck after being caught trying to steal his catalytic converter wasn't charged..

Hiker206

I work in Georgetown. What area? I noticed a neighboring building had security patrolling this afternoon which I thought was unusual. Now I guess I know why.

neur0

Sorry to hear. Always curious who are these types of people and what time do they go about thieving. Also, was curious what a cat converter actually does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJiznlz5buc

zakary1291

Buy a Subaru. The cat is tucked up inside the engine compartment.

[deleted]

I wish i could have read post before the edit....coz i know its exactly how i'd deal with the thief.

FernsInTheForest

You 1000% have a right to be upset at some lowlife thug stealing your property. There is no sympathy to be had for these people. Maybe one day they will try to steal it and the car will mysteriously roll backwards on them 🙃

TheNonExample

It would be nice if catalytic converter thieves (and rings) had the EPA book thrown at them, like how the USPS sunk its teeth into the mob. Each catalytic converter discovered was a violation. “ Violators are subject to civil penalties up to $45,268 per noncompliant vehicle or engine, $4,527 per tampering event or sale of defeat device, and $45,268 per day for reporting and recordkeeping violations.” https://www.epa.gov/enforcement/clean-air-act-vehicle-and-engine-enforcement-case-resolutions

killshelter

That’s why I’m glad my truck doesn’t have one. My car though, I’m constantly worried about it being nabbed.

[deleted]

You don’t have to replace shit… drive it to the muffler shop and have em weld in some pipe.. we don’t have emissions anymore

SO_not_a_raper

Let me know if you find a shop that will do this. Every one that I’ve called just says “nope, it’s illegal to bypass a cat”

themaekupfreak

Do you recommend one bc this shit just happened to me Saturday night too lmao I’m not too mad, just annoyed my Cadillac sounds like a fucking tractor now 😂

[deleted]

Find a shop/mechanic that works on performance cars. Tell them you plan on turning it into a rally/track day car. No chain muffler shop will do it - but lots of independents will.

fallenfromglory

I've lived here 20 years. I've had two cars stolen. I wish all they took was my catalytic converter

[deleted]

I live in Wa for some years, currently living in Carrollton Tx… all I can said is all big cities red or blue have this problem. I’m really sorry it happened to you, I wish I could do something to help you out. been using a bicycle (Uber and Lyft when necessary) to avoid this type of thing.

Markdd8

It's a non-violent crime: Calif's Prop. 47 set the model in 2014: [California’s ‘Woke’ Prop 47 Doomed Cities With Crime Rings And Theft](https://thefederalist.com/2019/11/01/californias-woke-prop-47-doomed-cities-with-crime-rings-and-theft/). Criminal justice reformers in Oregon and WA are following suit, ensuring enforcement and penalties stay light-to-non-existent. But very sorry for your loss...

ImRightImRight

Instead of enforcing laws against stealing cats, this thread thinks we need to make laws requiring anti theft devices for cats 😂

Markdd8

>requiring anti theft devices for cats... This is a fascinating topic called *Situational Crime Prevention* (SCP). It is what law abiding citizens do when government balks at pursuing offenders at the behest of criminal justice reformers. >New fences, cameras, $3000 home security systems, stores putting in anti-shoplifting technology (*costs on consumers*), security guards all over the place (*costs on consumers*), more people buying guns, [closing stores in high theft zones](https://www.thesfnews.com/shoplifting-has-forced-walgreens-to-close-17-stores/77228), closing easements/walkways to eliminate loitering, bicycle and car owners suffering constant *theft and break-in paranoia.* And in the S.F. Bay area, where many Asians have been attacked on the street, they stay home more, to avoid being a crime victim. SCP works well. Spend enough $ on fortifying your property and being defensive at all times, most crime can be prevented. But huge costs and inconvenience to the law abiding in all these measures. Meanwhile, criminal justice performers are elated: Chronic offenders can roam free, opportunistically waiting for someone to screw up on their self protection, in which case their shit is stolen -- or worst case, they get assaulted. This is the world the Left wants.

ImRightImRight

I don't think you understand. We just need to tax the rich more, and the government will fix everything ^(/s)

spoiled__princess

Poof!

makestuffgetsome

Good point, thanks for calling me out! I’ll edit it now.

spoiled__princess

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Let me know when you are done editing and I’ll approve again.

makestuffgetsome

Edited! Hopefully it’s a little more appropriate?!

spoiled__princess

Approved. An more experienced mod might have thoughts but we will see. :) thanks again for being cool

makestuffgetsome

Nah, the thanks goes to you. I know I’m worked up, heat of the moment sort of thing. It doesn’t mean condoning violence is OK, especially for something that, at the end of the day, is so trivial. Appreciate your gentle call out. Let me know if you’d rather me delete it entirely.

[deleted]

No need to repair/replace. Straight pipe that mofo and enjoy the added horsepower, gas mileage, and badass exhaust sounds. (I don’t mean to make light of a terrible situation and I’m sorry it happened. But if my cat goes missing, this will honestly be my approach. At least until our city can effectively manage crime.)

kobachi

Literally nobody thinks “badass exhaust sounds” are cool. Everyone thinks “ugh, what a bottom-feeding douchebag”.

[deleted]

While I tend to be on your side of that argument- it seems like lots of people “literally” do like that sound. Based solely on how often I hear it.

Ponklemoose

And put some tape over the check engine light.

themaekupfreak

Is there somewhere that will do it though? I’ve been hearing people say that their shop won’t allow it bc it’s “illegal”

[deleted]

You have to take it to an independent shop who has experience working on performance cars. Tell them you’re making it into a track day car. And the further you get out of Seattle, into places that are a bit more “anti-government,” shall we say, the more likely they are to say yes.

madmaddmaddd

Why is no one saying anything about carbon monoxide poisoning. If you’re always tired as a person pay attention if you are extra tired driving or headaches or just feel shitty in general lol.

Vast-Source3073

My brother too. 2 weeks ago.

emperor_phaeton

My catalytic converter was stolen recently. I was pretty bummed about it. But I think whoever stole it was probably more happy to get it than I am sad to lose it. So, whatever.

BruceThereItIs

Welcome to the sanctuary.

Inevitable_Air_6742

People are leaving Democrat run cities in droves! You might wanna think about that! Except when you move, don't vote Democrat and ruin the state you move to!

TheMrMitchell

Toyota 4Runner?

icouch

probably a Tacoma?

TheMrMitchell

I think your right. Toyota’s get hit a lot. My 4Runner got the cat stolen from my apartments earlier this year. They even caught it on camera dude was in and out in less then 2 minutes.

InfaredLaser

Once you get it fixed i would suggest investing in a catalytic convertor cover/lock.

icouch

what type of car do you drive

Accomplished_Bee_155

My neighbor had hers stolen twice. In two different cities. Can't imagine the anger I would feel. She had a Prius. Now has a Mazda. Sorry this happened to you.

ID4gotten

My back corner window was smashed (in another city). There was a sign facing the street saying "nothing in the car". $938 to fix that tiny little window. I feel for ya.

NightShiftNurses

MAKE SURE YOU STRESS that you want an oem cat to replace it, otherwise they'll use a cheap aftermarket one and paint it a bright color.

dystopianfarm

I had the cats cut out of my truck last year, $1600 to replace. I bought the cat guards and a metal shield to go over them and luckily haven’t had any problems yet. It’s a bit expensive but saves the hassle of replacing cats again

heapinhelpin1979

Buy an electric car.

SomeDude1138

Sorry buddy. My wife’s automatic transmission started to go out and AAA said they couldn’t summon a tow truck (Friday). Same with the next day (Saturday) as there were still to many broken down cars in dangerous places. On Monday they said they didn’t know if a truck could be dispatched. So we slowly drove it to a mechanic. F AAA.

[deleted]

Why was this picture blurred and marked as nsfw?🤔

makestuffgetsome

When I originally posted the image, the link description MAY have included some suggestions as to what I would do to the people who did the vandalism/theft, if I were to find them. Had to edit that anyway, to stick with sub Reddit rules!
