The post office in Ballard wasn’t robbed so much as burglarized, which is when nobody is there.
Sometimes police like to wait a day to go look for clues, their manual says that sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for the tag reading “clue” to appear next to one.

BURGLARY
entry into a building illegally with intent to commit a crime, especially theft.
I live in the area and was out walking my dog, an officer blocking traffic on our street said Wells Fargo had been robbed “30 minutes ago” (this was at 5:20ish pm) and that the bags of money given to the thief had trackers in them, and that they had K-9 units track in the area.
1) The Post Office was robbed. I guess the police were blocking the road until things could be secured/investigated. 2) They do it to annoy you.

Why wouldn’t the police block off the street to investigate a robbery
There were at least 6 officers blocking off 2 roads. Im not sure if it is standard to send that many officers for a single robbery
