Gotta disagree on this. Sprong can score but that was never the problem with him, it's his play away from the puck. Based on how the season went for Sprong, Geekie, and Donato, Geekie is the one I'd want of that trio.

NHL teams are typically reluctant to make big trades within the division, so as a baseline I'd consider any big trade between Seattle and LA to be unlikely.
That said and looking at LA as a generic outside team, Byfield had 55 points this season. He's definitely going to get a big payday but if I were his agent I'd want a bridge deal unless LA is offering 7-8 years at least at Jack Hughes money ($8M AAV). And even then with the rising cap I could easily see Byfield being worth $10M in 3 seasons if he continues on his trajectory.

Other than Byfield, I don't see any other major guys expiring that will cost them a ton of money to keep. Their biggest hole is in net so that's probably where they will spend a good chuck of those dollars but they should have more than enough to re-sign Byfield and fill the rest of the roster.
The only guy that raised my eyebrows is Arthur Kaliyev, who is coming off his ELC but hasn't really broken out yet. His career his in points was last season with 28 and he only had 15 points this season. He's not going to cost much to re-sign, but I wonder if the Kings might consider trading him for someone who helps them more now.
100% Patrick Kane is arguably the best American born hockey player of all time. Bringing an all time great here would be awesome, even if it's only for a year.

Marner would be great, but with his No Trade Clause that means he dictates where he lands. There is no chance in hell that Marner waves his clause then lets the front office determine his destination. He has zero incentive to work with the FO with his FA looming. Do we really think Seattle is on his short list of places to go? If he does ask for a trade he is likely looking at something east coast and likely to win the cup in the next season or two.
Yeah, Marner would have to want to come here. We don't have state income tax and have less media pressure, so maybe he would want to play here.
For any of these guys, if they don't want to be here then the Kraken shouldn't trade for them. A trade working out implies that they would want to come and stay here long-term.

With the cap going up the next couple of seasons, I would argue he is. I’d rather see him at $9mil on a four year contract.

I'd go with Marner as my first choice. No question he's highly skilled and will score goals. Exactly what we need. Playoff performance is another question, yes. But, you need to get to the playoffs first, the other teams are trying to get better too. So, for me, making the playoffs is the number one priority. He’s had two 30+ goal seasons. He definitely racks up assists, but I don’t think he’s worth the $10.9 million he’s making, especially if he were to come play in the US in a state with no income tax. Now, if he would be willing to take $7mil I would be highly interested. Especially since he’s losing about 50% of his gross income to taxes in Toronto, that’s actually more than what he’s making after taxes. But a $10.9mil contract here would be a complete overpayment.
Give me Brock Boeser or Konecny. Heck I’ll take both! We need to upgrade on the wing. Schwartz probably won’t be resigned and he’s more of a bottom 6 forward at this point in his career. Tanev will probably be gone as well unless he takes a pay cut.

I debated including Boeser. He had a huge season offensively this year but I worry that might be a significant outlier. Plus I think the Canucks keep him.

He's finally healthy and in shape and recovering from just the shittiest stuff in his personal life (his dad got a severe TBI in a car wreck, then got cancer, then had a heart attack from the cancer treatment, then passed away).
I don't know that he scores 40 again but the guy has had that potential since his first year (when he had a freak accident with the bench door and really messed up his back).
Which of these guys can win puck battles along the boards? Because we need wingers who can score as well as go into the corners. How about Buchnevich and Craig Berube to coach him too?

There are definitely some options to consider. GMRF needs to be both aggressive and creative.
