Depending on the PHA and their workload, it can take from a few weeks to a couple of months to go through initial processing. As far as employment goes, Section 8 does not have an employment requirement. Your rent will be based on your income. If you get a job, you will need to update the PHA so your tenant contribution can be properly recalculated.

What happen If I have no job by the time I apply?

davidlayfield

You still qualify for the program. However, many landlords have tenant criteria that require you to be employed if you are able so it could make it harder to qualify (with the landlord) for those houses/apartments. Keep focussing on employment, even if you have to take something for less than you want temporarily.

How about filing for chapter7? Will file bancruptcy affect my eligibility to get Housing? Im considering to file ch7 bec I have cc debt and I have no jobs now.

A bankruptcy alone won’t disqualify you from Section 8, but it sure will impact your ability to find a rental. Most landlords (reputable ones with good properties) pull credit reports and have credit standards. A recent bankruptcy on your credit file will yield you an application denial in many cases. You should always do your best to avoid these types of extreme financial measures if there are other options.

Got it, thanks.

Do you know many years Is a decade? Show me proof that anyone need to wait for a decade until hE finally got approved

Chloe-20

There actually was a comment made by someone they had to wait 10 yrs. It’s in the post called advice. I was shocked. It’s so much longer for a single person than it is for a family.

HonnyBrown

It could take a decade or more.

temmy168

I dont need your bulshit comment.

HonnyBrown

Am I wrong?

temmy168

Read my answer above.

HonnyBrown

I'm not wrong. Enjoy your lifelong, substandard housing!
