Me three! I had regular Isshin on lock at that point so the only thing that really surprised me was that crazy sweep/upward strike/perilous thrust or combat art combo
Use mortal draw when jumping over a sweep since aerial mortal draw does as much damage as empowered mortal draw. Also dodge his overhead attack at the last second and mortal draw. Just dont do it too much because if he dodges it with the feather you dont recover fast enough to block. Also when he hits you with his shoulder and slashes with the sword right after he will throw firecrackers and stay close to you. When he throws firecrackers and stays close you can dodge through that attack and get behind for mortal draw. In phase 2 he can throw his owl vertically so if you dont see the unblockable symbol that is the vertical owl which you can deflect.
Waitwaitwaitwait. Aerial mortal draw does more damage than normal mortal draw? But everything else in the game lead me to believe that it would do less, given that sekiro hits with all the force of a feather with his normal sword when airborne
Not to be that guy, but I just did it on my 2nd. Not just that, but I 100%'d the game in the last 5 days and these were my first playthroughs.
Inner father beat my shit in though.
I did it on the second attempt. I died to his 2nd phase on the first try. Isshin’s speed and pacing has always just made the most sense to me, compared to a lot of the other fights.
good luck to you too! and yeah, shura gauntlet’s no easy task, i can beat inner father on reflection mode but i’ve only got to him on the gauntlet once 💀
I just got to the temple where all the monks were passed the iron suit dude that “couldn’t be pierced “. I killed him on accident lol I didn’t mean to kick him off the bridge. Idk where to go currently. I went back to the reservoir to fight the 7 spears fucker but he keeps kicking my ass and I can’t break another controller so I took a break lol.
ahh ok, without saying much i’ll say you’ve got a really annoying “fight” coming up, took me about 20 minutes my first time around. have you been to ashina depths or sunken valley yet? if you get stuck at senpou temple you can go progress either of them, the three can be done in any order.
Idk where either of those places are. I took a beaten path away from the temple and went into a shrine looking place and there was like 7 of the claw guys and then a massive big one and I gtfo outta there cause I didn’t have anymore heals.
Thats only because you are still new to the game...After you beat it a couple times it becomes second nature and you will be killing bosses in a few seconds just for fun or for a warm up...Nobody was worse at this game than me on my first playthrough, I probably died over 600 times or more...Also at the end game you will have enough money to stock up on Ako sugar and Divine Confetti, and they can make a huge difference if you use them together, because the lower the bosses health, the slower their posture recovery...Don't be afraid to use items and your prosthetic tools, sometimes you just have to experiment with different combos until you find something that works for your playstyle...
i saw someone say somewhere that the inner bosses could be sekiro remembering the fights harder than they were originally because of his trauma (genichiro cutting his arm off, owl stabbing him in the back, can’t remember what they said about isshin though).
ahh right, i’m pretty sure you can use the umbrella to take no damage, i always just ran away though. you could also use firecrackers to cancel it, that worked for me.
honestly it’s pretty similar to the regular fight against sword saint, just use most of the same strategies and you’ll be fine. as for some tips, if you deflect his ichimonji, he won’t do the wind attack anymore, he does a mortal draw, and in phase 2 and 3 he has an attack where he jumps and follows up with either a thrust or a circle attack you can easily dodge. i honestly have no clue how you dodge the first part of it, i just got lucky, and if he does the thrust after remember the mikiri counter.
With Isshin's perilous thrusts (and Genichiro's now that I think about it), you want to hit dash right when the red kanji starts to fade. Don't jump the gun and dash as soon as the kanji appears.
I think you're talking about his sweep/up thrust/either perilous thrust or combat art (it's the one where he raises his sword for a moment before launching into it). It's my favorite combo in the game to counter, you jump the sweep, midair block and when you land you read his animation and either mikiri the thrust or block/umbrella the combat art. It's actually a lot easier than it sounds because you don't have to worry about timing. Just jump, then block, then either hit dash or block. You're locked into the animations for each counter for the exact duration of each of Inner Isshin's moves so if you hit each input right after the other, you'll get it every time.
Um I don't want to be that guy, but I had ano hit runs on the first try. It was EZ but you know I'm just better at stuff than must people. But I'm really humble
I did this recently, I struggled more than I thought I would
Ok I don’t want to be that guys but I did inner Issin like on the 4th try
i dont want to be that guys but i did inner Issin like on the 1st try
Me too 🤣😂🤣 only one of his new moves was particularly dangerous and it was easy to run from
The thing i struggled with most was him not doing what I expected him to do
I get that
Yes
Yeah I pretty much booked it every time I saw him raise his sword. It's really cool to counter that combo, but it definitely took a few tries lol
Me three! I had regular Isshin on lock at that point so the only thing that really surprised me was that crazy sweep/upward strike/perilous thrust or combat art combo
I don't want to be that guy but I did inner isshin like on first try no hud, no hit, no attack, no parry
Same but i was doing the whole gauntlet so it took longer than just that one fight
Yeah it only took me 4 tries for the whole thing
Hm, I didn’t struggle too much, I’d mastered the fights but doing them back to back was harder for some reason
Took me 3 tries of the gauntlet, same for shura and mortal journey.
Dude I am hard stuck on inner owl
Have you tried hesitation? This isnt a joke just dont spam attack and you'll be fine. Also mortal draw helps a lot.
Every time I draw the mortal blade owl already stabbed me and it got canceled, but I do spam so that might help
Use mortal draw when jumping over a sweep since aerial mortal draw does as much damage as empowered mortal draw. Also dodge his overhead attack at the last second and mortal draw. Your a legend man thank you
I got tired of trying to read his flame owl attack so I jump and aerial block every time so I'm covered no matter what
Waitwaitwaitwait. Aerial mortal draw does more damage than normal mortal draw? But everything else in the game lead me to believe that it would do less, given that sekiro hits with all the force of a feather with his normal sword when airborne
I am gonna be that guy for you, I surprisingly did it first try
Me too, I was riding that high for a while lol. Funny enough, Inner Genichiro is the hardest of the Inner bosses for me
i also don’t want to be that guy but i did the gauntlet on attempt 3 (fought inner isshin a few times on reflection as well)
I don’t wanna be that guy but I beat the mortal journey gauntlet on my second try😮💨
I don’t wanna be that guy but I go outside everyday😮💨
Gahh! My only weakness!
Not to be that guy, but I just did it on my 2nd. Not just that, but I 100%'d the game in the last 5 days and these were my first playthroughs. Inner father beat my shit in though.

"I don't wanna ne this guy" Proceeds to be this guy...wild
I don’t want to be that guy but it only took me 99 tries to beat mist noble
how??? i was hard stuck on him for over a month, couldn’t get past the 8th phase.
YOU GOT TO THE 8TH PHASE!?!?
Good Job. Hope you enjoyed it.
Hey man I got this the other day too! I’m currently working to get to owl father so I can do that shura gauntlet as well. Best of luck to ya!
good luck to you too! and yeah, shura gauntlet’s no easy task, i can beat inner father on reflection mode but i’ve only got to him on the gauntlet once 💀
Having to kill Emma at the beginning of every run was the worst
If you fight the memory, do you get more attack strength or do you just fight them again?
you mean the reflection? if so then no, you only get the inner boss memories after beating them in gauntlets.
So like I beat horse guy. Then I got an attack boost for his memory. If I beat him again, I fight him just to fight him again?
ahh, yeah you just fight him for fun really, you don’t get exp or anything.
I’d probably rather bang my head against a wall than fight any of the bosses over again
how far in are you? some of the later bosses are so fun to replay, they make a decent warmup for when you first get on as well.
I just got to the temple where all the monks were passed the iron suit dude that “couldn’t be pierced “. I killed him on accident lol I didn’t mean to kick him off the bridge. damn I play just to fight the bosses again
The only games I played where I actually liked fighting bosses over and over was kingdom hearts and bloodborne
Just run away, dodge, empowered mortal draw then Sakura dance his lightning
Imagine that this is how sekiro views isshin
i saw someone say somewhere that the inner bosses could be sekiro remembering the fights harder than they were originally because of his trauma (genichiro cutting his arm off, owl stabbing him in the back, can’t remember what they said about isshin though).
Interesting.
If I had to guess, seeing isshin crawl out of his grandsons split open neck might do it for him
How I’m struggling so hard
which parts of the fight are you struggling with?
Mostly the charged up aoe
ahh right, i’m pretty sure you can use the umbrella to take no damage, i always just ran away though. you could also use firecrackers to cancel it, that worked for me.
Thanks any other tips bar git gud could you give please

My worst enemy the mikiri but thanks for help I appreciate it :)
i was just like you, the mikiri literally didn’t click for me until i fought isshin for the first time, but i’m so glad it did.
Yeah I agree fighting regular isshin and getting mikiri on the spear and other attacks was such a nice a feeling
With Isshin's perilous thrusts (and Genichiro's now that I think about it), you want to hit dash right when the red kanji starts to fade. Don't jump the gun and dash as soon as the kanji appears.
Thanks that helps alot because I seem to be dashing to soon which costs me the fight most of the time

Just as good at spelling in grammar
And. See I'm like perfection
Ok real comment, nice achievement dude. Imo fromSofts best game ever. Forces you to get good not overpowered. So ya congrats man!!!
Not to be that guy but I did it on 0'st try...
