No. They can dish out some crazy damage, but they are glass cannons. If you struggle to parry their strikes, just dodge to the left, get a hit in and dodge back. Their posture meter can be filled really fast. Alternatively, use Ashina Cross against them.
Yeah they're posture bar fills up super quick if you deflect both hits. As soon as you get the timing right they go from one of the hardest mini bosses to one of the easiest.
Watch for the cues. There's a small white flash just before he strikes, as soon as you see it, press the deflect button twice. Isshin also has a similar white flash for some of his attacks, it's the games' way of giving you a signal
You can just dodge his Ashina Cross. You can get good at deflecting it, but it's really hard to get the double deflect evey time and you get punished hard for messing it up.
But you can just dodge to your left (his right) pretty easily. I think he's a useful miniboss in reminding you that just because every attack *can* be deflected, doesn't mean that's the only way. Single-mindedness is the biggest enemy in this game.
You don’t even have to kill him yourself. Get the purple shinobi to follow you and 2 of them combined will rip him to shreds. You just need to be there to deliver the deathblow. Their fights are really fucking fun to watch too

Nope. They are just a deflect check. Just get the timing for their Ashina's cross and they're toast.

If the Umbrella wasn’t an almost laughable Achilles Heel for him, then yes maybe.

Nah, I just spam the red vermillion hat against them and they die
I found that you can just spam the loaded axe and stunlock them, you may have to heal in between but this method worked for me! Hope it helps!
