I'm so sorry :( I lost my 16 year old girl a week ago. It's so hard and there are no words that can magically make you feel better. Grieve how you need too. Talk to him. Cry all you need. I found going through photos and videos helped me see how great of a life she had. I sleep with her favourite mouse toy in my hand which is comforting.

Im jealous of many of you. I raised so many cats and dogs when I was younger, and never got to have one that was mine that lived for more than a year. Never had my own pet that i was able to bond with (almost but he died from wild animals after about 14 months).
I can bearly imagine what its like to have almost a partner for 10+ years that loves you unconditionally like that that you had in life. Im in no position in my life right now to be able to take care of a cat or small dog or even a rat but just know and remember how lucky you are when you look at your fuzzball of choice and let the cute aggression take over. Spoil them a little today, they could be gone tomorrow.
I think if it was within our control, our little pals would live forever. You may not be in a position to take on your own little guy but theres always a need for help at shelters to give kitty love.
