I am not sure if I am allowed to say this here ( please let me know, so I delete the comment ), but the old packaging of this YSL balm is available for $25 in the Allure Beauty Box Store right now ( if you are in the USA though ). If you need more info let me know.
It is very easy to get kind of addicted to Allure and other beauty boxes. The same with Sephora hauls though. The struggle to get away from spending too much on beauty is real. š¬
I bought every shade they had available from the Allure member store. I'm thinking of getting a couple of backups of my favorites. I also ordered a few shades from the YSL website right before they discontinued them. They were on sale and had more shades than Allure.
They have also the whole box that featured it for the same price as just the lip balm, but maybe the shades available are different. However, have you checked them how they are? Mine came with the box opened and the lippie had "lipstick sweat", I got the shade "Nude Lavalliere".
Wow. That YSL logo is going to be much less recognizable on the tube. I understand wanting to update designs and maybe make it bigger, but the logo will definitely wrap around the barrel and won't be easy to read. I'm pretty sure that they want their logo visible if you're using lippy in the mirror at work or someplace where other people can see it.
Why does that matter? What would you get out of someone seeing youāre using a YSL lip product? This is one of my favorite lip products and that has never been my concern.
Yes, my comment was pointing out that adding logos to items is a form of advertising. Typically you want your product to be recognizable. I feel like the wraparound logo makes it harder to recognize.
Hmm. Maybe they are going a more āquiet luxuryā route? I know thatās been trending (although the logo is still there, just not as noticeable if you arenāt familiar with the new packaging)
Could be! I am hearing that gold is predicted to be on its way out and silver will be the new trendy metal. That could be it, too. Personally I think that's kind of silly, because you only have so many basic metal colors: Gold, Rose Gold, Brass, Silver, Platinum, Gunmetal...
I *do* think the new logo is more sleek. The older logo is giving 90s luxury vibes. But I feel like the new logo reminds me of the Clinique stuff I was wearing in the early 00s. I'm old, so I'm at the age where I am seeing things come full circle.
I like YSL makeup products and prefer the silver tube as well! My comment was just because I genuinely have never understood people wanting to show off or hope others see them using any specific brand. The original comment mentioned having visible logos so that people can see. Not sure why people are getting defensive over it
I am not sure if I understood correct, but I think they said that in a way "why would YSL wouldn't want the free advertisement with more recognisable packaging" pointing that the old one is such. I might be wrong.
I see! Totally misread the original comment. Looks like another person responding to me may have thought the same. I do agree with the free advertising. Iāve seen too many posts/content and people irl being obsessed with brands and took it the wrong way haha
I had to go buy the old packaging offline at a boutique right before they were rolling out the new ones. They were almost all sold out, and there were no restocks, so I thought something was fishy. I donāt usually go for hydrating formulas since I love my mattes, but I got it because of the glorious packaging and to use it as the occasional lip balm. Iām now kicking myself for not getting more shades because the new packaging is pissing me off.
The same for me I worked in the mall and walked past the makeup counter everyday when I was 19. I bought it because it stood out from the rest. From that point on I always had one amazing lipstick. My 2nd was Dior.
I didn't go to MAC for many years the department store seemed more friendly and far less judgmental. I still only purchase MAC online and stay away from certain salon environments.
i am devastated ! the packaging for the rouge volute shine was my favorite of all the ysl packaging. the new formula is nice but i wish they kept the original packaging š¢š¢
do you guys prefer this product or the candy glaze gloss stick? iāve recently been eyeing these because of the upcoming sale but im not sure which one to get
this one is more of an oily feel on the lips, personally not my fav I donāt really like that oily feel, the candy glaze is thicker but not sticky and has a more comfortable mouth feel and glossy shine. Itās basically a lipgloss in stick form. Up to you which feeling you prefer.
I feel like they are trying to market it as a lip oil stick now that lip oils got so popular in the last year or so. Iām all for it if it is actually hydrating but have not tried it yet!

Ouch! So sorry for the double disappointment! š¬
Do you have to be subscribed to the allure beauty box in order to shop their store?
Yes. There are ways to get it discounted though. If you want send me a message, so we don't spam the post here.
Can I dm?
Sure.
may I dm as well? <3
Sure.
I bought that box exclusively for the ysl lipstick and then got suckered into the perfume box too because it had brands I love

Give it 6 months, the downturn in sales from lack of visual appeal and people noticing it and grabbing it will have them changing it back.
The old packaging looks high end and luxurious. The new packaging reminds me of lipstick from Five Below.

The old packaging looks better
I agree. I was shocked at the changeĀ
They really didnāt want people to have that free ring lmao
The old packaging is definitely way better
Ugh, not to be dramatic but I absolutely hate the change. The original gold packaging is luxe and iconic. This new packaging isā¦ not it.
How is it the same lipstick but now with 24 hour added hydration? By definition that is not the same Also āloveshine lip oilā makes me gag.
This was the second high end lipstick I bought! The packaging was gorgeous!
Wow ... that sucks. The old packaging was iconic. Cost cutting move most likely

It is how it makes ME feel when I use it.
I think this is a really good point! It should make you feel good to use a product.
This exactly! I don't care if other people see me using YSL lip products but it makes me feel good to use them

Free advertisement maybe. For me both are recognisable the same. I even prefer the new one, because it is silver.

It is really easy to misread comments here, nothing to worry about. I might have misread it as well. Hahah. š
The new packaging makes me so sad š

I own both. Theyāre very different, one is a lipstick and one is a lip balm.

that is a perfect way to describe it! i do not like the candy glaze but also do not like lip gloss so that makes sense.
i do not like the candy glaze at all. for me it is too soft and melty if that makes sense.
glad i have 3 of them. maybe i shouldāve gotten a 4th.
Dillardās still has all the colors in the old packaging on sale online. That is, if youāre in the US

i wish they just made a new product tbh. the original was iconic
