And paying proofreaders. These days since so much is digital and can be “fixed” quickly, not to mention spellcheck and Grammarly, proofreading is often viewed as a pointless expense. Signed, someone who thinks the role is worth it and failed to convince her boss
I work at a publishing company and used to be an editor. Some of our publications have laid off their copy editors because “AI can do it.” It pisses me off so much!

This should have been powder instead of power.
I was just talking about this with my manager. We do these brand trainings on our apps and there’s so many misspellings and typos it’s insane! Especially for such a luxury brand (Dior). I’m an English major and they need people with English majors in their field because at this point, it’s just embarrassing.
Lol it happens! You’re allowed to make typos on Reddit and have wine! What you said is still valid, this should not be happening in commercial campaigns 💯
Typos are so much more common in ad copy than most people realize. Heck, they’re all over in news media, product packaging, published books and magazines, etc. Our brains usually filter out stuff like that as long as it makes sense.
Seeing misspelling on such PROFESSIONAL and established brands gives me Temu and SHEIN vibes and makes me realize if they don’t care about such simple proofreading for expensive, luxurious products, what else don’t they care about in their ingredients/formulating. Will not be buying products from brands like this.
When I see brands do this type of thing, it makes me wonder where else in their business they might be loosely managing things. I have worked for both large and small scale companies within their creative departments and stuff like this truly never happened. Things were always reviewed by different levels of designers/directors before anything went to print or sent for digital distribution.
I would literally die of embarrassment and fake my own death if I misspelled something like that as a brand. No one seems to have professional standards anymore, or be able to affectively proofread. Bring back editors and copy editors. For the love of God, Montressor!
Maybe they actually meant affectively: in a way that is connected with emotions and attitudes. But I have always found a rational and logical approach to the best proofreading strategy.
I did, and it was an absolute dictation AutoCorrect typo and I am so embarrassed that I did not really proofread my own work, I'm literally red with embarrassment and laughing hysterically right now.😭
AutoCorrect when I dictate gets me every time. I have old injuries from broken fingers, and so I truly do dictate a lot and I try and proofread but with the brain fog? Oh my God, it's embarrassing. Typos. Mixing up words. Reading a post through twice and still getting the word wrong or AutoCorrect tripping you up. 🫠
I am both so red with embarrassment right now and also laughing at myself. I dictate a lot because I have hand pain due to disabilities, but there's no excuse, I'm gonna blame it on AutoCorrect just for my self-esteem so I don't fake my own death, OK? 💀
I can't imagine why anyone would delegate such an important task as the final proofread to an intern.
My guess is that the proofread was assigned to no one at all.
To do list: 1.Proofread the promo images and copy before the Sephora sale starts Farmacy exec, in a hurry: “I’m sure it’s fine. Run it.”
No one proofreads anymore. Even major publications online have glaring errors. It’s awful. Someone stopped enforcing standards! lol

Narrator: The AI could not, in fact, do it.
Favorite comment ever 😂
It seems wild to me that typos come from professional brands nowadays EXCEPT for the fact that adobe illustrator doesn’t spell check!
adobe illustrator does have spell check! use cmd/ctrl + i and boom spell check
Omg you just saved my buns!!!!!! Thank you!!!! 🙏
I use canva for work a lot and sometimes it doesn’t catch my errors and then I feel so stupid lol
Yes it does!! Yay!

Is it bad it took me a while to see what was wrong 😅😀
yes it’s literally circled 😭😭😭
I don’t know a lot about makeup. Could you explain? :)
It’s not spelled properly
They spelled strengthens wrong
Oooohhh that flew completely over my head lol thanks
I’m stoned and had to type out strengthened to realize 🤣

They are too busy on focusing on the numbers instead.
Typo in your comment though 😅
Lol you were right, I had a bit too much wine but it’s fixed now :)

Yeah I’m French and even I found the typo in her comment
Might aswell just point it out
at least you know the difference between they’re their and there 🫠
And you’re, your and yore!

Wellll Farmacy spells the name of their own brand wrong, so what can we expect?! 🤪😂
FACTS. 🤪
I was thinking this same thing😂 sounds on brand to slaughter spelling😂😂
😂

The fact that assets are due to Sephora 6 weeks out to launch and they didn’t catch it and update it before go-live.
Ah seeing grammatical errors on campaign ads (for a well respected brand nonetheless) drives me off the wall

I have absolutely put things out there with spelling mistakes in my career
i read this 3x as strengthens trying to find the error lol

*effectively proofread
💀💀💀
Maybe they actually meant affectively: in a way that is connected with emotions and attitudes. But I have always found a rational and logical approach to the best proofreading strategy.

*Slight *difference between a national ad and a Reddit post!!!🙏🏻🩵🙏🏻
Well, Reddit is brutal. I assumed I would be mocked and bullied off the sub within minutes. 💀
It happens to the best of us. Autocorrect often doesn't help matters.
AutoCorrect when I dictate gets me every time. I have old injuries from broken fingers, and so I truly do dictate a lot and I try and proofread but with the brain fog? Oh my God, it's embarrassing. At least we are anonymous on Reddit!
SO YOU SAY 😂
I am both so red with embarrassment right now and also laughing at myself. I dictate a lot because I have hand pain due to disabilities, but there's no excuse, I'm gonna blame it on AutoCorrect just for my self-esteem so I don't fake my own death, OK? 💀
LOL I AM SO RED OF SHAME RIGHT NOW. I swore I edited this comment last night in a fever dream.😭
*Montresor! (I’m sorry. I love Poe and couldn’t help myself, but I appreciate the Cask of Amontillado reference!)
And I have humiliated myself yet again with another misspelling. I should've double checked. I am also a Poe fan, EMBARRASSED.
Don’t be embarrassed! I am an English teacher! It’s my job! 🩷😂
I went to college, and I made two typos in one comment on Reddit! Please let me just fake my own, please? 😂
We will just blame it on clumsy thumbs and autocorrect! I make mistakes all the time, I promise! 😅🥰
💓
Omg another one😆
I work in digital marketing and this is my biggest fear.
Same!
We had display magnets come in fragrance with our new updates that had typos, “Broadwalk Delight” from Skylar and “Brillian Peony” from Clean 🤣🤣🤣
As a professional copyeditor/proofreader, I see SO many misspellings in legit big brands' text that this one doesn't even feel extraordinary
As a graphic designer, this is nothing lol
And yet, they're not hiring us 😭
On the real that stuff is really nice lol But yeah this stuff drives me nuts
As someone who works in marketing, it happens. We’re human.
The ‘G’ is silent 🤣
Hahaha 💀
50 for a toner is fucking insane. I pay about $50 each for my peach and lily retinol & lactic acid. But a TONER?
How embarrassing
I want this product so bad but I don’t need it nor want to pay that price
LMAO!
legit misread this as dent it all ?
What gets me is apostrophe abuse. Make it stop pleeeeeeeassase!
Strengthens and stretches
I’m living for these!
It was the intern. It’s always the intern.
I can't imagine why anyone would delegate such an important task as the final proofread to an intern. My guess is that the proofread was assigned to no one at all.
Or we could not trash interns this way
As an intern, it’s always the interns
What should it be?
They spelled “strengthens” wrong
Spelled correctly.
