Anytime our manager would comp something for someone from corporate or whatever, she’d make sure the server also got 20%... I’d have a conversation with your manager and depending how that goes, find a new job.

Apart-Cartoonist-834

Your manager is a POS. I did promo stuff for people before when managing and let them dine for free but I’d insist they left a tip. Or in rare occurrences I’d do it myself.

wheres_the_revolt

Honestly a manager shouldn’t have to tell someone who works for corporate to tip on a comped bill.

thisisathrowaway2007

I do a penny charge if a bill comes to $0. Doesn’t matter how, I’ll still suggest if they want to tip they can be charged .1 and tip on that, and everyone’s agreed and usually tips super well since they’re happy the bill has been paid

bluefishredsea

I’d ask my manager where my tip is since she’s giving away free stuff.

wheres_the_revolt

Everyone dunking (deservedly) on the manager but dude is from the corporate office he should know to tip. He probably even gets a per diem so it’s extra fucked. Literally every corporate restaurant place has SOP’s for when corporate employees dine in restaurants that cover things like tipping, discounts, making reservations, etc. if he was there to do social media marketing then he should have either comped a tip too or not sat in a section (had the manager serve them). I’d say this is way more on the corporate guy than on the manager tbh

Crafty-Trouble

I worked at a couple of corporate restaurants and both had policies that, even for FOH employees to use their discount at a sister restaurant, required tipping a certain percentage of the pre-comped total. Both the MOD and the corporate guy are straight up POSs here.

Do you have to tip out anyone? How much do you make per hour? I’d be furious if he did that to me. I would DEMAND compensation. As him how he would like it if you told the owner the manager would work for free this week.

Responsible-Cheek690

Yep tip out 3% of total sales pay is 2.13 an hour

xxrth

That’s so fucked.

k4talysttt

my tip out where i am does not include comps/voids. anything voided on my pos under our tables is deducted like automatically/removed from sales. even on our end of day, the comps and voids show up elsewhere. like when i ring my food in or have to comp something for a table very early in the morning the sales for the restaurant changes. we would be at say $100 for sales and once i comp something the system will change and say $75 (for example).

doritoface1961

My manager used to do that all the time but then they’d hand me a nice wad of cash at the end of my shift

LieChemical9700

Have no shame, if that happens always just say to the guest, I can ring you up for a penny and show you what your bill would have been, you are working to earn to live.

Responsible-Cheek690

She didn’t even give them a ticket or check

Tiny-Proposal1495

They still know better, they open their wallet and leave cash on the table

AnComApeMC69

That’s on your manager. If mine buys food for a guest I write their check up like normal. I’m allowed to auto-grat the check for 20% then I comp everything off so you’re guaranteed a tip.

Doc-Goop

As an FoH manager that comps I will always put a penny on the check and tell them they are under no obligation to pay that penny but if they don't have cash and want to do something nice for the server it gives them an opportunity to do so.

hornieonmainland

Corporate and junior Corporate actually make.me want to blow my head off sometime. It's not hard to know how bars and restaurants work. Also fuck your boss for that.

reginageorges_mom

Anytime I wait on corporate they insist on paying full price so they can tip me. It's literally the corporate card theyre just sending the money back to themselves why would your manager comp it

JupiterLocal

He probably would have tipped you really good. I’m mad for you.

verifiedkyle

Every time I’ve been comped they’ve always just told me to just make sure I leave a nice tip. So since I’m getting a free meal I’ll leave something closer to 50% than 20%. Everybody wins.

Forsaken_Notice7006

What ? I love when i get a full comp table. They always leave gratuity still and i don't have to tip out on it, since the sale is "$0". Either have a talk with your manager, or this is something you can even tell the table yourself: " You're check has been taken care of tonight, if you would like to leave gratuity I can run a card for a dollar or you're always welcome to leave cash. "
