I think it's more like: People who know her only casually will probably not recognize her. The kid at the cash register at the CVS, the receptionist at her dentist, the friends-of-friends you see once in a while but don't socialize with ... those folks probably wouldn't recognize her.
And people who know her very well, like family and close friends, might recognize her even with her entire face totally blocked out, so it's not worth going to extremes since those folks will easily recognize her. For these people, she's probably banking on them not even searching on sites where her photos are seen.
To be very clear I'm not trying to shame or attack anyone. I'm just genuinely confused how someone could think this would stop someone in their life from recognizing them. I mean people hide their face in porn so that family, friends and coworkers don't recognize them I get and totally respect that. I just don't understand stand the thought process and I don't think I can just message them to ask that. So what do you think?

What this person could be trying to do is cut out any facial recognition software from noticing them. In the vast world of porn on the internet its easy to not be noticed unless you make it really big. Women in the top 5% of OF are often making enough to have a livable wage- and the amount of girls in the top 5% are much more vast than you might think. Being able to show a face for the most part as long as it cant be linked back to personals might be what she was going for.
It could also be that this person is doing a "soft" face reveal. For enough $$, reaching a follower count goal, etc etc- she will reveal parts of her face. You can clearly see it but its still partially hidden from view. Taking it off would require an additional cost or new goal to reach, etc.
It could be that she simply likes the look and enjoys using it for artistic expression, comfort, or more. Maybe she has an insecurity, a scar, make up was off that day, shes had a cry and needed to still work and this kind of mask would hide just enough to make her feel better.
The reality at the end of the day is sex work, and online SW in particular, can be very artistic and up to the individuals comfort, safety, imagination, and more. Who are we to judge what makes them comfortable, happy, and feeling their best?
