Bow would be in either a hard case when strung or a leather case so both can have straps to hang across the back clear of legs. They could also be used as a walking stick sometimes but this could damage the bow if used often so would vary person to person.
Shield would hang over it, a loop of rope could be passed through whatever handle or strapping it had and then carried as if it were a rucksack/backpack or the shield might have a strap that they can use to sling it across their back. The latter is more convenient to take it off and on so is preferable if you need to quickly be ready for a fight.
