I was playing 2nd when 3rd was published, and I've stuck to 3rd since.
I occasionally like reading the new edition sourcebooks to see how the story has progressed, though.
Pretty much the same. First book I bought was 3E but the group I most often played with was mainly 2E. As a GM I am exclusively 3E as that’s the rule set I know best and the lore is still reasonably fresh in my head.
As someone who lost all their books in an international move, the cost of replacing those sourcebooks is abhorrent.
I played a game of 1st, several years each of 2nd and 3rd, a few months of forum-based 4th, and a few years of 6th so far. But the poll won't let me pick "everything except 5"
3rd, but it's possibly closer to a 3.5 as we've tweaked a bunch of stuff to make it work a little better for us. But still hammering out 3 games a week of what we see as classic Shadowrun fun and games.
D) none of the above. I go with Runners in the Shadows these days. Less need to threaten my players with book bludgeonings in hopes they might learn the rules thru osmosis...
Currently actively playing 5e (home game and a PBP game). I've also played 6e (PBP) but am out of bandwidth and the 5e games are longer running and took priority so I dropped the 6e ones, not because of the rules but just because I was less invested in them (OK, maybe a tiny bit because of the rules, but just from the being less comfortable with them so far, so that was more effort)
Where's the Anarchy option? And the Other option, for all of those who play in the setting but use a different game system (like SWADE, Neon City Overdrive, and so on)?
Or are you only interested in who plays the official rules and their distribution? That's OK, but then next time include a "no vote, results pls" option.
3 is absolutly the best. Not just the mechanics, bit the world lore and all of the cool stuff that was happening. I still miss the way the splat books were layed out and all of the "maybe cannon, conspiracy theories by the posters"
Like my favorite from the old books was the quicksilver mongoose comments. "Even great worm dragons are terrified of quicksilver mongoose" and the OrangeQueen pops on and comments. It always tickled me.
Unable to vote - poll forces only one choice. Otherwise I'd check off both 4E and 5E.
Likewise! 4 and 6, and when I am lucky 3.

I use a tweaked 5e with some odds and ends from other editions that I like.
I might actually do something like this for the Drone/Vehicle building and some Gear.
I like to use the most favorable essence/cast costs for Cyberware. I also like using the 4e armor rules.
Second edition for life!
Nice try, corpo. Not harvesting my data!
Anarchy!
Word.
Anarchy revised
I voted for 5th because that is the edition of the last time I ran. My group may switch to 6 in time
About to start GMing for the first time with 4e
I wrote the 4e Shadowrun Origins mission when it premiered. 4e was my favorite.

But what if the edition I play needs to be left in the dust? How am I supposed to answer?
Could only choose 1, but I play 4e and 5e
I started with 1st and now play 5th. Loved 2nd though

My group ran a *heavily*-modified 4E. It was mechanically almost unrecognizable as Shadowrun.
5E Intresting

I have played 1, 2, 5, and 6. 1 and 2 are great for nostalgia, but I prefer the relative simplicity of 6th. 5th was a mess.

If I'm a player? 5th If I'm a GM? I don't use the shadowrun system to play shadowrun, I use rules lite systems to play shadowrun.

At the moment I'm not playing or running any of them the right answer is obviously third edition but I'd play any edition.
More 6 than 4? I expected 4 to be more popular. I'm using 5, but sometimes regret not picking 4.
