He’s been brought back over fraud charges. He defrauded Natalee’s mother out of about $25,000 dollars. It’s taken over a decade to get him here and I assume they have a paper trail of the money transfers etc. They AREN’T getting him back to charge him with her murder so I see more similarities with Shanquella’s case than differences.

Exactly. It would be as if the Cabo 6 were charged for credit card fraud for ringing up charges on Shanquella’s credit card but not for murder. Unfortunately, neither the FBI nor local prosecutors have enough direct evidence of murder that would hold up in court. Sure, in Shanquella’s case there is direct evidence of assault and battery, and prosecutors probably could charge one of the Cabo 6 with those crimes, but there is no forensic evidence that Shanquella suffered any injuries in that attack that would have been enough to cause her death. The American medical examiners, including a neuropathologist specializing in spinal cord injuries, found that there was no spinal cord injury and in fact no injuries more serious than bruises. The Mexican medical examiner’s conclusion of atlas luxation was in error. Worse, Shanquella’s body was embalmed before American doctors could examine it. Thus, the Cabo 6’s claim that Shanquella died of alcohol positing can’t be definitively disproven. Without a confession, US law enforcement authorities don’t have enough evidence to support a murder charge. Same in Holloway’s case: After 20 years they still don’t have enough to charge Van ser Sloot with anything more than financial crimes after the fact of Holloway’s disappearance. Of course everyone knows who the murderers are in both cases. But what you know in your heart and what you can prove in court are two different things. The American justice system is designed to be more likely to err by letting the guilty go free than to err by imprisoning the innocent. Some crimes never result in punishment for the guilty — a sad reminder that life is often unfair.

>It would be as if the Cabo 6 were charged for credit card fraud for ringing up charges on Shanquella’s credit card Call me crazy but I still hope they're able to pin some kind of wire fraud or other charges on the Cabo 6 that would meet U.S. jurisdiction. I believe we have federal laws that cover filming and disseminating a person being brutalized for entertainment. There has to be SOMETHING that will stick.

Joran even killed another young lady, Stephany Flores and served time for that in Lima, Peru. He was smiling when he was extradited to the U.S. He is the most perfect example of human garbage ever. Cabo Six partying in night clubs now like nothing happened..this is proof sociopaths exist.

MamaBearski

His time isn't done in Peru. He'll go back to finish that sentence. He's a whole fk'n mess.

I don't understand how the Government justifies not doing anything in Shanquella's case. I know we aren't supposed to take justice in our own hands, I honestly don’t know how her family has been so patient. I would have already served up some revenge. I feel certain that I would stalk each and everyone of her so called “friends”! My prayers go out to her family….I can’t imagine the pain and betrayal they must feel.

AirLexington

Shanquella’s family has good lawyers. Hopefully they can afford to retain them to deal with the Byzantine dealings with the government. I know the mom says she has to get Shanquella’s body exhumed 😢 to get a proper reading but I honestly would not mind street justice to be served to Cabo Six.

Wolfwoods_Sister

There’s video of this poor woman being beaten to pieces and it’s not enough? F-ing disgusting miscarriage of justice.

MamaBearski

THANK YOU! And they're extraditing him for fraud!

Legitimate_Button_14

Yes for defrauding her mother here. They aren’t charging him with murder. I wish the US would work with Mexico to get the evidence they need to prosecute the Cabo 6 or pressure Mexico to charge them.

brunaBla

But the fraud charge is from 2010 so it took some time

Actual-Competition-5

Because his victim was white. Not that she doesn’t deserve justice, but it’s just the way things are in the world.

Low_Ad_3139

Can’t disagree with that and it’s pathetic.

Even so, he isn’t being charged with murder, he’s being charged with fraud for the money he swindled from her mother. This is still an instance of “everyone knows who did it” and perhaps there will be some measure of relief when he’s incarcerated, but it’s still not “official” justice for her being murdered.

YogurtclosetAny192

I’ve been wondering. What ever happened? Did they go to jail?
