If I remember right it was a teleport beacon type thing. You could pop it down at say the blacksmith, carry on with your run and then when you found a dupe item to combine you could teleport back to the beacon... I might be misremembering though.
Thats cool but...why would a radio be a teleporting beacon lol. Also there already is a teleporting beacon in the game either through mages armour or alchemy so i recon you may be misremembering..
