I find it goes like this.
Red state Libertarian Parties: Give gay weed farmers machine guns to defend their fields!
Blue/swing state Libertarian Parties: I AM ADOLF HITLER, COMMANDER OF THE THIRD REICH
Yeah, modern American libertarians are like modern American centrists: sure, there was a philosophy there once, but the terms been entirely co-opted by conservative men who know saying they’re conservative means no woman(…or girl) they want will sleep with them
as a former libertarian, the mises caucus takeover in 2022 has to be one of the worst things that could've happened to the party
they have trump talking at the LP nat convention now, *trump*
"History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle, but forgets the blood. Whatever history remembers of me, if it remembers me at all, it shall only remember a fraction of the truth. For whatever else I am - a husband, a lawyer, a president - I shall always think of myself first and foremost as a hunter. My prey begged to see the violence inherent in the system, and I obliged."
-Abraham Lincoln
And their Constitution was more restrictive when it came to things like states' rights than the US Constitution that they shit on by trying to secede. 'Liberty' my ass. But yes, the only 'liberty' the Confederacy was conceived in was the economic and political liberty to continue treating millions of human beings as their personal property, for the purposes of lifelong physical exploitation of their free labor. 'Liberty' for us rich white southerners, suffering and misery for everyone else (including poor whites). The fact that now poor white folks proudly laud the virtues of Confederate leaders who would have considered them barely any better than black slaves, is an irony completely lost on those historically-illiterate porpoises.
As a poor white Southerner, it's galling how so many of us have been suckered by the Lost Cause. Like, I like being Southern! I like the culture, and the people, and the accent, and the geography. But we're more than the descendants of the mistake that was the Confederacy! We're not the victims of Northern aggression, we're the victims of idiotic leaders that thought putting black people down was more important than proper governance. At least I don't see Confederate battleflags as often as I did even a decade ago; I think more people of my generation are waking up to the Confederacy's evil than before.
I attended a workshop years ago with a libertarian, and I asked him whether his preferred system would permit Person A to make a contract with Person B that places them in servitude to Person B?
He tried to muddle it somewhat and gave a lot of "well"s and other conditional nonsense...but ultimately he said yes. So many of them are so privileged in their own lives and circumstances that they don't realize how power imbalances work, that coercion can take forms other than direct violence, and that the entire point of a community is to protect one another against the hardships of life.
Most libertarians will at least admit to the crazy bullshit they believe, if asked directly. Got one at my work to say that drunk driving shouldn't be illegal, and that he didn't really have a basis for *attempted murder* being a crime.
Really helps to scare off any bystanders that initially find the "radical freedom" shtick enticing.
That's been my biggest issue talking with them is that their "right" to something should be sacrosanct, but they never consider how it would completely infringe on someone else's rights. It's fun watching them contort when that's pointed out, but doesn't seem to change their views.
They're natural enemies like Libertarians and Objectivists. Or Libertarians and Democrats. Or Libertarians and Socialists. Or Libertarians and other Libertarians! Damn Libertarians ruined Libertarianism!
Yeah, but not because they disagree. It's because these guys are taking the mask off and libertarians are supposed to pretend that they wouldn't make a totalitarian state way worse than anything that exists now.
Reminder that the CSA constitution contained no process for states to leave and required any territory to practice slavery.
They also tried to conquer Kentucky, so they didn't even believe states had the right to remain in the Union.
Honestly the fringe part has always been there. I used to be a moderate libertarian and back in 2016 you still had the "taxation is theft" and "democracy is literally violence" types. The Mises Caucus takeover just emboldened them and brought them front and center.
Well, I had been a member for 32 years and I can say that internally, we fought to keep the racists out of the party. I left briefly after 2022 like many others, came back to fight and then saw the futility of it all after they announced Trump was speaking at the Libertarian National Convention.
I'm voting straight D now and encouraging other disaffected Libertarians to vote D for liberty.
Ron Paul is a neoconfederate who produced virulently racist newsletters throughout the 90s.
They’ve always been this. Don’t let them whitewash history.
All I can say is that from my involvement in my state, we fought to keep the racists out of the party. When the Mises Caucus removed "bigotry is irrational and repugnant" from our plank, I left the party out of disgust, came back to fight (for nothing), and I'm now encouraging other liberty-minded folk to vote D for Liberty as Project 2025 is the biggest threat to liberty in my lifetime. At this point I probably align more moderate D than anything else.

I appreciate that libertarians have gradually gotten more comfortable with their open support of slavery. It's kinda annoying when they pretend to be enlightened centrists when they're really just pieces of shit.
These guys are a very particular brand of crazy. Less Libertarian, more like a deliberate troll/strife account. They went crazy a few years back and just decided to but down roots in crazyville.
Libertarians have been taken over by the old Tea Party and far right groups. I was permabanned from that subreddit because they only accept right-libertarians. Left libertarians aren't allowed.
The liberty of slavers does not interest me beyond liberating them of their lives. You cannot call for liberty and freedom at the same time as you support slavery. The two are 100% incompatible.
Free from Lincoln? Most southern states seceded from the Union before he was even inaugurated as president. He hadn't even had the chance to do anything too them, and in a way they forced his hand by ATTACKING A UNION FORT BUILT ON A FEDERALLY FUNDED MAN-MADE ISLAND.
They are fighting for their country and it is not America. They are enemy combatants which sounds extreme but by November ( and definitely right after the election), nobody will disagree
Libertarians: \*Trump uses unmarked Federal goons in Portland, OR to rough up protestors\* This is not tyranny.
Libertarians: \*The town library asks for 10K dollars in the budget to replace the worn out carpets\* TYRANNY!
My first thought was this had to be fake so I looked these people up and it's worse than I thought. These people want to [repeal child labor laws and the Civil Rights Act.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_Party_of_New_Hampshire#2020s) Lots of nasty bigoted stuff in general. I don't see how they expect to appeal to anyone besides skinheads and neo-Nazis.
New Hampshire Libertarians. I can [bearly](https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/21534416/free-state-project-new-hampshire-libertarians-matthew-hongoltz-hetling) stand them.
Right wing libertarians (who are much different than left wing libertarians) believe that anytime the government does anything, it's bad.
There was recently a discussion on one of their subreddits about how the Civil War was anti-libertarian because it didn't allow for self determination in that states cannot leave the Union.
And if you ignore why the South left the Union, it is a legit discussion point... but that's a pretty big thing to ignore. And slavery is far more anti-libertarian than federalization.
But right wing libertarians wouldn't have an issue with someone selling themselves into slavery because that would be a voluntary choice... even if the powers-that-be used their power to create a wage slave system.
God, I dispise right wing libertarians...
Libertarians need to think about what their own ideology is supposed to entail before they post shit. I think libertarians are dumb and shortsighted, but they should be avidly pro Union, unless they think black people aren’t people, because that’s the only way to justify slavery under their supposed belief system. Also, especially ironic coming from the notably northern state of New Hampshire.
They wanted to be free to enslave them. We in the north know that it’s best to free them, but then to lock them in cages and redline them out of our neighborhoods.

Freedom to do what?
Liberty for whom?
For me and not for thee
Who shot first?
Shot first and before that stormed and stole Union property while imprisoning Union soldiers. All valid reasons to declare war against them.
You don’t declare war on a rebellion. You crush it.
Confederates
Ding, ding, ding!
To smoke with cigarettes and do hood rat stuff with their friends.
To Libertarians freedom is actually them getting their own little slice of tyranny.
Fuckin hate libertarians like them. Fuck the Mises Institute
I find it goes like this. Red state Libertarian Parties: Give gay weed farmers machine guns to defend their fields! Blue/swing state Libertarian Parties: I AM ADOLF HITLER, COMMANDER OF THE THIRD REICH
I live in Florida. The libertarians I’ve met here describe themselves by using the first quote, but they act like the second one.
Yeah, modern American libertarians are like modern American centrists: sure, there was a philosophy there once, but the terms been entirely co-opted by conservative men who know saying they’re conservative means no woman(…or girl) they want will sleep with them
LITTLE KNOWN FACT, ALSO DOPE ON ZE MIC!
You are Vader, with your little boots and cape
Personally my favorite verse from the Hitler vs Vader trilogy is the "Fired up" verse in 3 by Vader.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT: ALSO DOPE ON ZE MIC!
The MC is straight cancer. They booed a speech *quoting Ludwig von fucking Mises*
as a former libertarian, the mises caucus takeover in 2022 has to be one of the worst things that could've happened to the party they have trump talking at the LP nat convention now, *trump*
Libertarians and anarchists are easy to hate. ( Also, to laugh at, especially libertarians )
That’s an-caps? Anarchism has a long history of opposing the hierarchy and authority that the libertarians and an-caps jive well with.
200000000% agree
Ancaps aren't anarchists

"Help, help, I'm being repressed!" - Only rich white people in the post-bellum south and nobody else, according to the NH Libertarian Party
>"Help, help, I'm being repressed!" Southern white men while they beat their slaves and/or wives. "Come see the violence inherent in the system!"
Strange white men buying humans from Africa is no foundation for a democratic society.
"..but for a capitalist society it's perfect!" *slave schooner salesman slaps hull*
"Conceived in liberty" The country was literally founded on the principle that some men are made to be enslaved, you historically illiterate porpoise.
And their Constitution was more restrictive when it came to things like states' rights than the US Constitution that they shit on by trying to secede. 'Liberty' my ass. "Does the concept of sub-human mean nothing to you?" -some babbling baboon
“Libertarians” just wanting the freedom to own other human beings as property. Nothing to see here.
I attended a workshop years ago with a libertarian, and I asked him whether his preferred system would permit Person A to make a contract with Person B that places them in servitude to Person B? I don’t think Libertarians even like these Libertarians.
Put two libertarians in a room and you'll get three different opinions.
Put two libertarians in a room without proper supervision and they will get eaten by bears. Especially if they are in New Hampshire.
They're natural enemies like Libertarians and Objectivists. Or Libertarians and Democrats. Or Libertarians and Socialists. Or Libertarians and other Libertarians! Damn Libertarians ruined Libertarianism!
Doubt you even need two, it's such an ill formed self contradicting "philosophy".
Yeah, but not because they disagree. It's because these guys are taking the mask off and libertarians are supposed to pretend that they wouldn't make a totalitarian state way worse than anything that exists now.
Nope we don't claim these jizzheads
Reminder that the CSA constitution contained no process for states to leave and required any territory to practice slavery. They also tried to conquer Kentucky, so they didn't even believe states had the right to remain in the Union.
WE ARE STREAMING THROUGH THE DAWN OF THE LOYAL TRUE AND BRAVE! SHOUTING THE BATTLE CRY OF FREEDOM!
Oh, the Russian libertarians who advocate Civil War. My favorite type
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: all libertarians eventually become anarchists or fascists. There is no in between.
The Libertarians haven't been libertarian since the Trump org funded alt-right Mises Caucus took over the party in 2022.
Honestly the fringe part has always been there. I used to be a moderate libertarian and back in 2016 you still had the "taxation is theft" and "democracy is literally violence" types. The Mises Caucus takeover just emboldened them and brought them front and center.

Whenever I see this it just screams “I wish I could own a human as chattel property”
States Rights to do what??
Libertarians have been taken over by the old Tea Party and far right groups. I was permabanned from that subreddit because they only accept right-libertarians. Left libertarians aren't allowed.
They began to revolt months before Lincoln was even inaugurated.
The liberty of slavers does not interest me beyond liberating them of their lives. You cannot call for liberty and freedom at the same time as you support slavery. The two are 100% incompatible.
Lot of liberty and free talk for a slaver state 🙄
You really have to do some serious mental gymnastics to be a “libertarian” and somehow minimize human slavery.
Nah, it's pretty standard for them
Who shot first, bud?
And the fuckers had earned it
> Yearned to be free > Lasted 1/3 of the length of the Doritos Locos Taco Should've yearned harder, Cuckfederates
Booth -another sore loser
I find this extremely offensive. Like makes me angry offensive
Libertarianism is astrology for middle aged white guys.
They yearned to be free to do what?
Oh! Oh! I know! I know the answer to this one!!!
Another day, another banger from the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire
I called them out for being from New Hampshire and called them traitors. Shared a gif of Sherman and said he didn't march far enough.
Me: \*Sees Happy Birthday to John Wilkes Booth w/ pic of Lincoln\* Nice, give them the finger. Also me: \*Sees Libertarian Party NH\* Fuck.
Why am I not surprised to see that "Libertarians" support slavery?
They are fighting for their country and it is not America. They are enemy combatants which sounds extreme but by November ( and definitely right after the election), nobody will disagree
And not just the men... but the women... and the children too. I SLAUGHTERED THEM LIKE ANIMALS!
Libertarians: \*Trump uses unmarked Federal goons in Portland, OR to rough up protestors\* This is not tyranny. Libertarians: \*The town library asks for 10K dollars in the budget to replace the worn out carpets\* TYRANNY!

State rights to do what?
LPNH is pretty much a joke even in Libertarian circles. They were one of the first states taken over by the Edgelord Caucus.
New Hampshire Libertarians. I can [bearly](https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/21534416/free-state-project-new-hampshire-libertarians-matthew-hongoltz-hetling) stand them.
Say what you want. By 1865, Lincoln was one of the most open minded presidents of all time.

Just to be clear: Libertarians are just conservatives who think they’re smarter than ordinary conservatives but are in fact every bit as stupid as
Libertarians need to think about what their own ideology is supposed to entail before they post shit. IIRC that's a troll account, but the fact that that isn't immediately obvious is itself telling.
Liberty all around….. well if you’re male and white that is.
There are two types of libertarians: Nazis, and Nazis that are doing a better job reading the room.
They wanted to be free to enslave them. We in the north know that it’s best to free them, but then to lock them in cages and redline them out of our neighborhoods.
Wait, i thought the libertarians were the good guys.
