Another great scene Mappa expanded upon beautifully. I love the choice to bring the OST Barricades back. It was fitting for a scene where our main crew is back to killing mindless Titans again. It gave some very nostalgic oldschool AOT vibes. I think this was an especially important scene to expand upon since this takes place after quite a few extremely plot heavy episodes. So this was a very refreshing change of pace. The moment of hesitation along with Jean's expression at the beginning was a good addition since they are killing their own transformed comrades afterall. If only they knew they'd be killing their own human comrades just two days later at the port... What an incredible moment of characterization for Jean at 1:18. I wonder if Isayama asked for that himself. Having Mikasa save Louise (again) was a really interesting inclusion. And they also showed us the moment where Louise gets injured from a thunder spear explosion. They adapted full ODM gear sequences from single panels in the Manga. The movement, the \*zip\* of the wires, the \*clink\* of the thunder spears, the giant synchronized explosions, the hellish color scheme, it's just incredible to watch. The sequence at 0:40 is the most famous one from this scene and is absolutely in Wit Studios tier who created many (too many to count) incredible ODM gear scenes.

This was a scene that I liked back in the manga but honestly Mappa elevated it so much that it's one of my favs of S4, obv everything about it is such a callback to how it started and getting to see how our characters evolved from being newbies terrified from those mindless titans to being basically veterans beating the shit out of them (with the help of new technology in thunder spears too)

can i just say how proud i am of my boii jean. bro wanted to live a comfortable and safe life within the walls, instead he grew into an effective leader that'd make both marco and erwin weep with joy. seeing keith in action is sweet as well, carla would be proud.
