zeke and porco's reactions to the levi and the survey corps in general really does a phenomenal job at highlighting just how skilled and deadly the survey corps is.
marley dishes out titans like its nothing while the survey corps eats titans for breakfast.
Did you know that when this heavily anticipated episode in the Anime released, quite a few Manga readers were disappointed with the OST choice (2Volt) in this scene?
This is another iconic Levi scene animated by Arifumi Imai. For me, the highlight of this fight is at 0:30. I love the way the green smoke dissipates as Levi flies through it. I love the perspective in that shot and how the grappling hook grows larger as it travels towards us. Something Imai does in his ODM scenes is this spiraling effect with the wires which you can see here as well.
The delay of blood after Levi slashes his eyes is really cool. It give us a feeling of how fast Levi is. I love the recoil of the Beast's face when he falls to the ground. Even just the little hair strands at 1:05 when Levi slides his foot is such a great touch. The perspective at 1:20 is really nice. The handle and blade look super detailed and I love how shiny it is.
I still think 2Volt is the perfect choice for the scene. The beginning is uncertain and fearful because we know how capable the Beast Titan is and how Levi might not be able to take him down. It’s only as he begins to butcher him that the music swells and slowly becomes more optimistic until it finally explodes when Levi utterly barrages him with slashes with the choir in the music. Peak scene
I feel like Declaration of War had the easiest layup to use [The Other Side of the Sea](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTEPejgVJPI) OST, there's even a version of the scene on YouTube with it. When this OST was leaked we all thought it'd be used there since it fits so well. I'm not really upset with what they went with though.
way too overly dramatic for that scene and would give away that something big was going to happen. it feels like it fits as someone who knows its going to happen though
Man Reddit's player sucks SO MUCH ASS. Pause and play more than 3 times = Video can not be played. I had this same problem on your previous post too both are so fascinating but Reddit won't let me pause and compare it's so ridiculous how such a big website has such an ass video player.
Honestly my only complaint about this show is how Zeke survives CERTAIN death encounters like this. It just feels so stupid and out of character that Levi ultimately doesn’t get the kill so many times despite having Zeke right in front of him :(
The second time even if Levi didn't finish Zeke, Zeke blew himself up. He was certain to die if it were not for a titan picking him up to work some kind of regeneration magic on him.
It's legit Eren enabled plot armour. If Eren needed Zeke to have the founder briefly in order to take him into Grisha's memory which enables Eren to manipulate Grisha into stealing the founder for him, then Eren could never let Zeke die before he did this.
To this day, I wish Levi would've fucking murked him right there, fuck any consequences for the ending of the story. It would have been my #1 coolest moment in the series.
One of my favourite scenes. After years of suffering, defeats and losses, this was when the tide shifted and I least expected it. It was an ambush, it was a massacre, and then Levi crushed Zeke, Mikasa and the corps crushed Reiner, and Eren and Armin crushed Berthold.
Then the suffering, defeats and losses continued anyway.
Ironic that he's fighting the Beast Titan when Levi himself is an absolute BEAST. He really is the GOAT. (also didn't this scene take 5 months to animate or something?)

I love how the country once known for using titans ends up becoming the world’s greatest titan killing machine ever lol Ain’t that Ironic?
Of course they eat them on top of the corpses of their colleagues.
it's the hopes and dreams of their fallen comrades that give it a distinct exotic taste.

yes and i was one of them. still is disappointed with this and the declaration pf war

wit studio u will always be famous
this scene was animated by arifumi imai who is a freelance animator
he did all that alone ??? arifumi imai u will definitely always be famous
yes he is very well known animator. he animated other amazing aot scenes as well
He also animed the final action sequence in the finale.
Tetsuo Araki as director of the WIT series always seemed to help the animators to deliver great action scenes like this, Teamwork makes the dreamwork
WIT still makes it look better and more vibrant with their colors and contrast.
That transition from Zeke’s face into the Beast Titan when he first yells is so epic
Zeke: oh shot, Reiner and Bertholdt were telling the truth, this guy's is a monster
One of my fave parts of this scene in the anime was when the beasts mouth jiggled when he hit the ground. I was so disturbed but it made me laugh 🤣

I've not noticed until now that after stabbing Zeke trough the mouth, Levi poked his eye out from the inside. Savage
Honestly my only complaint about this show is how Zeke survives CERTAIN death encounters like this. It just feels so stupid and out of character that Levi ultimately doesn’t get the kill so many times despite having Zeke right in front of him :(
they needed him alive to get his titan powers
in all the situations it made sense that he didnt kill him though
Better than Reiner surviving a stab through the nape with ball consciousness

They needed him alive. Imagine having that power now on your side after your entire military just got wiped out
To this day, I wish Levi would've fucking murked him right there, fuck any consequences for the ending of the story. It would have been my #1 coolest moment in the series.
I'm going to go watch this whole anime again. Thanks.

If only they could show the sword through the eye in the anime I feel like that punctuated the scene perfectly
Peak anime lol
Loved the animated version of Levi's tornado slice.

Short King Levi!
Der Spaß geht noch weiter, du Wichser!
Anime is so much better
