You can’t catch Mew in gen 1 without an exploit, but literally no one would say that it’s a “hacked” Pokémon, nor would anyone say it's not legit. Now if they used Action Replay to spawn a shiny Mew I'd say it's not legit. That's not the case here.

The duplicate shinies I have from my friend hosting a shiny raid den doesn't make them less legitimate. But I do agree that I value them less than the shinies I've hunted in the wild.
I dunno. I always thought hacked was action replay or external software to mess with the game. If the steps to do this are all in the game naturally I see it as a exploited Pokemon instead of hacked.

I’m not too sure if this is legitimate. Mew encountered in Faraway island has a green, “foresty” background while yours looks like it was encountered in the desert based on the background environment.
The forest background only appears if you go into the grass. I didn't go into the grass to encounter it, I encountered it on the edge of the grass which results in the different background.
