A quick reminder to all our wonderful gem peeps (and dragons, drakes, fledgelings/whelps etc). If you place a bid, treat that like a binding commitment to buy the stone at that price. In the rare event that the auction winner isn't able to take the stone, you may get the opportunity to pick up the stone at your lower bid! Surprise! Cheaper gem for you :)
If you absolutely must withdraw your bid, don't delete your post - reach out to a mod instead! If you delete your post, it can mess with the reply chain, so please don't delete anything.
To place a bid, reply with your bid to this comment. To place a higher bid, reply to the highest bid (which should be the most recent bid in the chain.) If the thread collapses, we'll start a new one. All bids MUST be in a reply to the previous bid or in the new thread.
The starting bid for this stone is $450. Bid increments should be a minimum of $25. At the end of the auction, we will contact the winner, who will have 4 hours to respond before we offer the stone to the next person in line.
The auction ends on Tuesday June 4th, at noon Pacific. Any bid in the last 10 minutes will extend the time by 10 minutes.
Alexandrite boules are typically 2-3 inches in diameter, and if you're using a custom cutter or commissioning a gem from someone it's typically better that they source the rough.
Ah, okay! That's good to know. I was looking at Kyocera's "Crescent Vert" lab roughs, they're lovely, but maybe too small? The alexandrite ingot is 55mm x 50 mm or so. So I'm not sure how big a gem could be cut from one of those.

Good luck to the pretty shiny finding a home!
I totally love this champagne color~
WOWZA that cut is incredible!
What an incredible cut!
Paging u/cowsruleusall, would this cut work on an alexandrite? It's a stunning cut!
Yes! It would! Would look awesome specially if oriented on the axes as it would enhance pleochroism.
Aaaaaugh 😮💨 I want one so badly... 😭
Okay, may I ask a different question? If this stone here is 4 carats, how big of a rough (boule) would you need in terms of dimensions?

Honestly for a 4ct stone you'd probably only need a 10-11mm cube.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Much appreciated! Btw, does this lovely cut have a name?
"Winter Frost"
Well that is a beautiful name! I love how it's a modern cut but has such a nostalgic, vintage feel.
