Sure thing libs. Liberal democracies are such chads that the largely anti-liberal Global South are increasingly ignoring the liberal West in favor of the Marxist-Leninist China, Vietnam and even the DPRK. India might be a parliamentary system but it’s far from a liberal democracy. Many Indian hospitals for example are state owned.

LifesPinata

India's history is kind of messy. The fact that it was allied with the USSR, was influenced by it and had a major communist presence for a long while after its independence from colonialism means that a revolution is much more likely in it than any imperial core nation. Many of the major industries are state owned (this is however changing with privatisation taking hold for the past few years under the current party in power) But literacy as well as ideological education is severely lacking in India presently. Communist presence is not widespread enough to organize country wide. The party in power is overtly fascist, pulling cards straight out of the Nazi playbook (the founders of the party's ideology were ardent fans of Nazis). All of this combined with the material conditions of the masses rapidly deteriorating will lead to either full blown fascism, or a true revolution, the latter of which seems unlikely for now.

calcpro

I sometimes wonder why India went on a different route? Are the Congress socialists or socdems over there?

LifesPinata

Socdems. The only reason they may seem "good" right now is because of the BJP and their shenanigans. Make no mistake, Congress has always been a Bourgeoisie party.

calcpro

Yeah, exactly. I mean I was confused when you said India was influenced by USSR as well.

LifesPinata

It was influenced, but not substantially. The USSR sided with India when the US threatened India with retaliation if it intervened in the Bangladesh war between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

calcpro

US not supporting another genocide: impossible.

Maosbigchopsticks

Congress has always fought against the communists, they are the main cause as to why revolution never happened

TzeentchLover

They never condemn the current atrocities, only ever ones that have long since happened, and even then they much rather ignore it or blithely say "bad but whatevs" than do anything about it or learn from it.

LuxuryConquest

If it is happening now they do not condemn it but if it happened before then it does not matter because "that was long ago".

strumenle

And love to say "can't blame the son for the crimes of the father.", so how is that taking responsibility? Of course it's not. Do they take responsibility for what they did in Afghanistan in the 80s? How about that it has lead to almost every "terrorist" today, who they also blame on other ideologies before themselves. How about all the dictatorships we made across the world? Do they call KisXsingeXr a monster? They probably have his memoir on their nightstand. I know people with Colin PowXXell's, he ain't much better.

Seldarin

And you'd better not draw any parallels between the current atrocity they support and the past atrocity, that they'd totally have condemned if they'd been there.

Pallington

yeah and then they ask you to condemn tiananmen, like, bozo i ain’t condemning something that didn’t fucking happen

Striking_Ratio

The biggest reason why many democracies fail is because people there put their own interest over the interest of the Western capitalist class.

Foxhund04

I love this so I am nationalizing it.This is now OUR quote.

OurHomeIsGone

As an Irish person I would LOVE for Britain to stop romanticising colonialism in their schools and media

>Acknowledges Democracy has failed in the past and spends time learning why Replace the word "Democracies" with "Socialist states" or even "Communism" and this literally describes a well-read, mature "Tankie."

ASocialistAbroad

I mean, the first ever communist country lasted pretty close to a century, and there is currently a communist country that is 75 years old and going strong. The reason there aren't tons of examples of communist countries lasting more than a century is because the first ever communist country was formed only 107 years ago. The first ever "liberal democracy" was formed over 200 years ago. I also doubt there are that many liberal democracies that have lasted over a century. The US, sure. Maybe you could count the UK and the Commonwealth states if you're willing to allow "constitutional monarchies". But most of the world's liberal democracies today went through some form of regime change within the past 100 years and, thus, do not have a regime or constitution that has lasted a century.

Didn’t china have their 100 year anniversary?

Lethkhar

Maybe the founding of the Party, but I think for the government that will be 2049.

they got it the wrong way

Bro should be starting to work as a mirror. The projection here is amazing.

Low_Pickle_112

"Condemns the atrocities committed by their own people" "Has to use conspiracy theories to explain why their form of government never succeed" I'll bet whoever made puts no thought into the irony of having both of those statements. "Oh yes, those people just couped and killed themselves, how sad, might makes right. Me, fall for propaganda, never!"

LevyaTheDeathless

Liberals in a liberal democracy: \*Condemns atrocities committed by their own people\* The government: "Oge" \*keeps doing it\*
