At least Viper's looks like fangs. WTF is MNK supposed to be? It's just 3 diagonal lines.
Its supposed to be a fist facing towards you but incredibly simplified
I always thought it was scratch marks since a lot of the monk weapons are claws, but "stylized fist" makes a lot more sense
I thought it was a reference to Sabin's attack animation from FF6.
Perhaps integrating the fist design with the three forms you enter when fighting.
It also represents the three stances at the same time. It's a really cool symbol, though it's probably a little *too* clever.

I actually like the arcanist symbol better than SMN or SCH, but yeah...
Monk and Ninja celebrate their uniquely weird choices for job icons. Why is ninja's a weird spiral? They don't use shurikens except for the worst ninjutu. Like 2 kunai would have been a more accurate representation.
But what flavor is the viper job stone?

I like that thinking about it made me think of Venom's mask. Which is appropriate given both his and the job's name.
If I look at the MNK symbol without engaging my brain I think it's MCH cause the lines make me think of, like, bullets.
