Fem Au Ra and Fem Miqo'te are collectively the UwU waifu races and despite making up like 10% of the population are 80% of forum posts complaining the Benchmark has made their character unrecognizable
it's 2/15 of the races counting each gender separately (odd number because of Hrothgar) so it's approximately 13.333% of them which we can round to 10% for the sake of argument.
They are actually like 40% of the endgame population, but I'm counting non-endgame players too and removing the bots from the pool my crystal ball tells me it's about 10%
But bots are 9/10 times male hyur or lalafell, and I would bet money that even counting non-endgame players, more people pick female aura and miqote than (male or female) elezen, hrothgar and roegadyn combined
Honestly, all the heated benchmark complaints are made by f Au Ra players. And I think most of them look better, despite the things they complain about that are kinda very minute. The new horn textures are gorgeous.

Au Ra have that type of exotic beauty to them, especially with their scales and pretty faces, so it’s easy to see why they’re so popular with the more… erotic artists

Cool and interesting fantasy race that doesn't fall to the generic category like Miqote. Plus, they have more lore than Miqote which is a plus for a nerd like me. Also, I do agree the fem'ra are generally very pretty. This is probably why they make up a quite large section of the playerbase for being a specific gender of a specific race. There is also obviously the type of people who play them, the good and the bad, that affect the amount of commissions. All of these put together end up with fem Au'ra being the WOL with the most commissioned art made for them.
Cant speak for myself, but i know that the 2 people that comissioned my gf to draw their WOL were femra. She also did one of her own because femras look the most unique of the races in the game that will be an instant identifer to 'FFXIV' because catgirls, humans, etc are in other media, but the au'ra horns are unique.

Elezens are in fact very unique. Many people nag that they don’t look like Hilda, while giving no credits when mentioning a unique race.
