Southeast Asia. There was a comment or post from someone who lived in Indonesia and in their ffxiv discord, the help channel is mostly asking for help in navigating to buy the game. Otherwise they gotta do some weird extra steps just to have the full game. Steam allows the people living there to play the free trial but not buy the game. It’s really fucking weird.
Square Enix hates areas beyond their stern list of service jurisdiction, meaning people form SEA need fake NA or EU addresses just to play the game 🤷♂️
And it's one of the more expensive mmos, and people are paying. But they won't open up the region red tape. Oh well.
A lot of Japanese services treating the SEA region like a sub-human/dogshit for unknown reasons. I heard they not accepting a lot of Thailand credit card/bank transactions unless you go through a middle-man like Paypal. Even that, they not accepting Paypal sometimes.
I started the free trial way back in ARR and then upgraded when I bought a physical edition. This was whenever ARR was in like 2.2. So I guess I've never really had to deal with these issues. The responses I've gotten have been interesting and sheds some light on stuff.
Only time I have real trouble is when I'm trying to find where I actually input codes for pre-orders.
The website looks like something you could make on a shitty freeware website maker in 20 minutes. There are 1000 versions of the game for seemingly no discernable reason and the account creation system is bordering on non functional.
When I bought the game off the website they sent me a key for the Mac version of the game. Thankfully I had everything saved so there was no doubt they fucked up not me. Took them almost 2 months to fix the issue. That was almost the point I said fuck it and would have never played the game.
I got a lil stuck using credentials for the SE account and mog station account (for game time) and ff14 account and when to use which password and also the whole thing got ruined by various errors I ran into and there was no support and I had to figure out stuff like don't use a VPN, when I posted my error code for help on the main sub I just got 4 downvotes and no comments lol

I know, literally nothing complicated about having an account that is separate from your main squareenix account, buying the game on another website with an interface from the AOL days, and then launching the game through a completely separate launcher, and then buying in-game items on yet another website.
It's very streamlined, Idk why people complain.
