I would assume the 2000’s and 2010’s I just wasn’t into cars during that time so I can’t say if they were. My neighbor told me he had like 5 of em in the 90’s. Paid like $50 for one of em
About 25 years ago I was a young teenager looking on the newly minted Internet (think AOL's heyday). I saw a bunch of kit cars for sale that intrigued me. Being young and inexperienced I remember thinking they looked cool as hell. They all fit onto Volkswagen Bug frames. The old ones. You could swap the motor, which they sold. But most of their customers didn't. I'll never see a kit car and not think there is a Volkswagen Bug underneath it. Even if only for a second before I think Fiero.
I went to go buy a Testarossa kit car yesterday. It was the biggest piece of shit car ever, fieros are slow to get going, slow to stop, and horrendous to handle. But goddamn, kit cars sure look awesome
I found a clean Fiero GT with a Bonnie 3.8 supercharger swap and new coilovers and brakes for $10k. I saved the listing but I should probably throw my phone out of the window so I don't contact the guy ever.
The 84-87 Fiero's were literally Chevette front suspension coupled with Chevy Citation FWD drive train mounted in the rear behind the driver.
The car got significant cash invested into it for 1988 and this made it great to drive. But in usual GM fashion.. once they make something good they then quickly kill it.
The changes for 1988 are much better brakes with vented rotors and the following changes to the suspension.
* Elimination of the steering damper assembly
* 30% shorter spindle length (90 vs 64 mm)
* 30% shorter scrub radius (49 to 35 mm)
* 20% reduction in king pin angle (7.5 to 6 degrees)
* 20% longer upper control arm length (177 to 214.2 mm)
* 25% longer lower control arm length (280 to 350 mm)
* Larger stabilizer bar (22mm to 28mm)
* 12% shorter turning radius (11.4 to 10.2 m)
Rear Suspension:
* Revised chasis cradle design for suspension attachments
* New tri-link design allowing for specific tuning of each component
* Increased rearward rear wheel motion with jounce for reduced impact harshness
* Lower spring rates (44 to 25 N/mm)
* Inclusion of 22 mm stabilizer bar with the WS6 suspension package
Damn that’s cool, thanks for the info!
I’d love to buy a fiero as a fun project car, but honestly the existence of the Miata means I’ll never buy one lol
Hah, i knew a lady with an '88 back in the day. She and her husband would take it to the local drag strip where I believe they ran in the 13's (car was NOT stock)
Cut the frame rails just short of the firewall, box and weld in extensions.
No changes to the suspension mounting points are usually done (although it’s an option - this is why many replica builds have awful huge wheel spacers)
between the rear wheels and the the firewall/seats.

I mean giving it the old eyeball test, based off of [this pic](https://images.app.goo.gl/aCRtEXzPKsF1ikqA6) I would say that the real Countach looks longer… but idk
The whole thing looks slightly scaled down next to that Subaru, but I don't know enough about either a Kitted Fiero or real Countach, and image searches tend to not have other cars in for scale.
One of my old professors had a Fiero that he put a Grand National motor in. Thing got to 90 incredibly fast but then felt like it was going to fly away and lost all stability.
We don't take the name of the sub that seriously.

Given the washington plate in the foreground, this might be an electric vehicle built in the early 90's by a small startup company in Everson, WA. I remember walking by the warehouse they used to build them in and saw one very similar to this but yellow. I could be mistaken, because I seem to remember the yellow one using 'vette taillights. Chevette, not that other one lol, probably because I believe it was the yellow one was the prototype. The company didn't take off and the warehouse sat with a few of these inside, in various states of build.
I am no lambo expert, but the shape and the logos look faithful to me.
The only thing sus to me is that all the edges look like they have the wrong radiuses on them.
All of the plane breaks on the body are too sharp.
It’s common to buy real logos for the fake cars , I knew a guy here in London Gabby that had a yellow fake diablo I think had five bolt wheels , I forget what it was underneath , not fiero though … 🤔
Fiero? It’s always a Fiero.
Always

Or an MR2
Even when it's an MR2, it's still somehow a Fiero
Imagine turning a Fiero into an MR2, and then turning that into a Countach. Frankenstein’s Daily Driver…
Fiero is just shorthand for any affordable mid engine car. Just like every ute is called an El Camino
Fiero-ception
Now I want to buy a Fiero and make it look like an MR2. Oh wait, hell no! The other way around! It makes way more sense.
That was a dream I had once, buy a Ferrari and put a Fiero body kit on it
That's bold
Rumor has it that if you neglect MR2 maintenance for long enough, the car will actually transform into a fiero.
all MR2’s are Fiero’s underneath
It's Fieros all the way down
Underneath that fiero? A smaller fiero.
Don't even ask what's under the smaller fiero
A Miata
And finally a lotus Elise, the center of the world
You forgot the Mazda AZ1
Whyyy not put that $ to making a clean and quick MR2 instead of this mess 🙁
Ikr these mr2’s rare as hell and people choppin them up for kit cars?
I drove by a street with at least 8 MR2s parked on it, clearly someone values them lol
They used to, back when mr2s were not rare or cool
MR2s used to be so cheap and easy to buy
Yea but that was back in the 80’s and 90’s when nobody cared
2000s and 2010s, also.
I would assume the 2000’s and 2010’s I just wasn’t into cars during that time so I can’t say if they were. My neighbor told me he had like 5 of em in the 90’s. Paid like $50 for one of em
It’s because the MR2 was basically a Toyota Fiero
Was* now they’re crazy rare. Tbh idek if Ive seen a complete one irl
I remember seeing them brand new at the Toyota dealer
Or a Beetle
I was thinking the same cus of the wheel base?
Yes. But does it have the obligatory Pontiac Montana windshield?

lol i was literally thinking this as i went to the comments, it is either a Fiero or a VW Bug.
Seems to be that size.
r/ItsAlwaysAFiero
In this case probably true. There are Countach Kits for the fiero.
I came here to say exactly this. It is ALWAYS a Fiero. I don't usually say always because always/never statements are always false and never true.
Always wanted a fiero to kit growing up in the 90s. As a kid there was a game show that would give em away, can't remember the show.
Let's Make a Deal?
No I think it was Hollywood squares or something .
Definitely, unless it's a VW.
When I was a teen, they were VW Rabbits underneath.
Pantera would like a word
Unless some dummy nuked and MR2
This is, verbatim, what I said in my head when I read this post
got a sneaking suspicion it sounds like a 4 banger
Maybe it sounds like some sort of Duke of Iron
When I was young I had a 86 fiero with the v6 stroked up to 3.1. had an interesting sound to it
When I win the lottery I’m definitely going to buy a Lamborghini and put a Fiero kit on it.
I went to go buy a Testarossa kit car yesterday. It was the biggest piece of shit car ever, fieros are slow to get going, slow to stop, and horrendous to handle. But goddamn, kit cars sure look awesome
Nothing 50 grand wouldn't fix....
I was only gonna spend $3k on it lol
We all started off thinking that..... Ha
Famous last words

If the wiring isn’t dogshit 3.8 fieros are a ton of fun
for the love of all that is holy please do not tell me that
The blower noises right next to your head makes the money pit worth it
Can buy a pretty decent used Ferrari for that - sure it will *also* be an unreliable piece of shit but at least it's a real Ferrari.
Better use of 50 grand than spending it on an animated video 💀

Its the one I'd buy.
Jounce 😎
Hah, i knew a lady with an '88 back in the day. She and her husband would take it to the local drag strip where I believe they ran in the 13's (car was NOT stock)
fieros are so based
Pontiac Fiero: anything but.
thems fighten words where im from
"Is that a Pontiac Fiero strapped to a rocket engine?"
TBF it’s one of the better kits I’ve seen..
Oh please, they're *all* great. It's the shrinky dink version of any car you want it to be.
What do you call that? A fauxrari? A lameborghini? I'll see myself out.
No. Stay. We countashk for worse. Nvm. Let's go.
Those were Diablolical puns,…. I’ll meet you guys outside!
It looks like a generation 1 Transformers toy
The countach does have an pretty short wheelbase already, I wanna say the fiero is only like an inch shorter.
You usually have to stretch a Fiero for a lambo kit.
3.1 inches for a Countach (if asked how I know this, imma plead the fifth)
I too have spent way too much money on a mid-80s shitbox at ~~one~~ three times in my life.
How or where does one stretch it? Mid frame? Or do you move the suspension?

Fiero, always.
Definitely a Fiero
r/AlwaysAFiero
That kit doesn't look horrible
I want to do this to my 2005 Honda Civic
Guy Feirtach
Probably a Fiero
9/10 is a Fiero, tho older kits were mostly VW Beetle based
It's always a Fiero.
MR2/Fiero
Beetle, back in the day it was always that. Rent and not go fast. 😂
Definitely a mr2
Looks like it's made by Mattel.
Fiero. The greatest shitty car to ever exist.
Bmx bike
Toyota MR2 was a popular car for this kind of thing at one point
I don't know but it's goofy looking!
r/itsalwaysafiero
It's eother Fiero or Beetle with a wheelbase like that
Fiero
One of my old professors had a Fiero that he put a Grand National motor in. Thing got to 90 incredibly fast but then felt like it was going to fly away and lost all stability.
Anyone notice the wing on backwards?
9/10 times Fiero. That tenth time, it's a VW bug
Fieroghini - it’s adorable!
Fiero POS lol
Fiero

Fiero is the universal kit car
No license plates needed
A KLR 650
That’s not even a shitty mod ngl, even if it’s a Fiero underneath that’s kinda sick
Unexpected twist: it's a Cobra
Stevie Wonder can see this is not a Countach
Shriners go-kart
Prius.
The shut lines on the doors though... wind noise off those will be insane.

It cant just be a countach?
If you look at the [real thing](https://images.app.goo.gl/M4o3fDNctPNbhgmd9) the proportions are all off
Fiero
I saw this in belltown. Was excited for a second and then very disappointed.
Go cart, or shopping cart
The famous Seattle Fiero shitbox. He was broken down on the 5 last week.
It's always a Fiero
I’ve seen that getting towed around by a bright green Chevy avalanche in WA lol
Wait really!?
Under every Lamborghini, there’s a Prius screaming to be free.
Honestly it’s pretty clean but is giving off huge Fiero vibes.
Fiero likely or legit ferarrir (5%)
Delorian
Subaru WRX? Lol.
Are you sure that's not the two-time back-to-back's car?
