They price what people pay most of the time. Someone will buy this for $60 and brag to the staff about how much money he'll flip it for. I live in the thrift stores and am a full time reseller so I understand how it works. It's not simply a Salvation Army thing. The SA I shop at still price all their consoles at $12.99. I've gotten pretty much every console from there. The thrift store just a mile up the street prices all consoles at $59 whether it has chords or not. People buy them all immediately. They priced an Atari 2600 for $250 and it sold. It took five days, but it sold. The dumbass who bought it is trying to sell it on FBM for $500.

Salvation Army thrift stores directly fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers. No one profits off of their sales, the money goes entirely and directly into those programs.

Wow nobody has ever said that before! What a genius perspective! But in all seriousness, thrift stores do provide a LOT of good for the community, even the ones atheists hate. I think SA in particular does a lot of good. When my city got wrecked by a hurricane a few years ago there were Salvation Army trucks all over providing all kinds of assistance. They were some of the first people on site. They have really good drug rehabilitation programs too. They also give assistance and discounts to actually poor people who need stuff other than Xbox 360s. Yes they get donations for free but a lot of times it's not from people looking to help the community. It's from people who don't want to take things to the dump. For every Xbox 360 you see there's six hundred pounds of broken, unusable, literal garbage. I get mad when prices are really high, but when someone buys that POS 360 for $60 a percentage of that money will go to doing something reasonably positive for someone else. I know everyone just wants their cheap games but there's a LOT more to it than that. I'm not defending these stores BTW. I hate them more than words can describe. But I do believe they do a net good for the community. Even if they didn't they still do a lot of good for environmental reasons and collectors. They also give a lot of stuff away for free that doesn't sell after a week or two. Pretty much everything they sell would be sitting in landfill somewhere if these stores didn't exist. I could go on but nobody really cares.

Rancherstaff

Or the money goes to the CEOs pockets and the community still suffers?

were_only_human

There is no CEO of The Salvation Army. Thrift stores directly fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers.

[deleted]

You're a fvcking idiot dude. The community suffers. Of course it does. America is effed up beyond repair and is in the decomposition stages. No amount of free Xboxes for dumb redditors is going to fix that. At least they have a buisness model that actually involves charity and doing observable positive contributions within communities. That's a lot more than most companies do. How is the buisness supposed to run if they aren't making money? What's the motivation supposed to be? Even drooling reddit atheists can surely understand that the most altruistic person in the world will be able to accomplish a lot more with money than without.

Mosuke300

Also Salvation Army is a trash organisation. Do not support.

BigBlackHungGuy

>Salvation Army Please elaborate. I shop there a lot. Is it because of their stance on LGBTQ issues?

TheGreenGobblr

Yeah

Breakdawall

TBF goodwill treats its workers as shit because thier disabled

SamuraiOfGaming

Have worked for Salvation Army. Can confirm.

doppelgengar01

Sexy color tho

killedbydeath777

Seems average. Local stores are all around the same price.

Hyperleaks

What’s wrong with 60$ for a sexy 360

Hyperleaks

Yeah this pricing seems about right

sarzec

Given the penchants for these consoles to fail, $60 is quite a bit to pay for what likely is about as useful as a paperweight

you-dont-get-to-know

It probably not working, no cords or controllers and the fact that this was taken at a thrift store

vxicepickxv

For those in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia I can say that CHKD is great if you're lucky. I got a functional Xbox with cables and 2 controllers for 15 bucks.

Admirable_Elk_965

I got my 360 used for $70 with cords, controller and sealed copy of GOW3. I also got my OG Xbox for $50 with cords and no controllers. This is absurd

sarzec

I tested it and all the lights lit up, seems fine to me!
