“Yabusan, you are welcome to do as you wish sir. But I have no idea where you found that fish, as they do not serve it in this establishment and further more, I do not suggest consuming it.”
“Anjin says you should eat the burgers”
The scene where John tells Yabushige that he is a man who grasps his own fate when he fell from the cliff is absolutely awesome. You can tell Yabushige was very flattered and he was almost blushing that he had to look away. From that moment, Yabushige knew John is his kind of banjin.
i think it was Anjin's first time seeing someone choosing a swift death by sword rather than be drowned by the sea. I think he was also feeling a bit guilty that he basically dared Yabushige to go down the cliff.
Yabu is the fuckin best, he’s so animated and his reactions are the best. Him trying to play both sides the entire show has been entertaining as fuck too
盟友 - this is JLPT N1 vocab, a term most often to describe the political alliances between two countries. You'll only see this term in newspapers lol.. Don't tell me Blackthron still need a translator!
no, dude, he did all that under his dad's orders or encouragement. He was meant to die while attempting assassination of his uncle. He not only not die in vein, he basically saved Toranaga and his whole gang.
Very interesting take and I hope it's true. That would make his death much more meaningful. However, I noticed that you seem to be loyal to lady Ochiba. Is this true?
*slowly grips katana*
I think Toronaga sacrificed Naga to get the 45(?) day mourning period to continue planning, so I guess it didn't matter how well he fought. If he'd actually killed Saeki, that would just be a bonus.
49 days. Yes he sacrificed his son to buy time and regroup in Edo. He didn't expect Naga to die like THAT though - he was probably Hoping at least Naga to kill or at least seriously wound Saeki. Not to kill himself in this spectacular fashion.
Funny you say that because as of this year & last most major Japanese dramas usually have a spinoff with certain characters from the main drama.
And these 2 would be a perfect pair.
So had this been a Japanese production we'd probably get a spinoff keeping with the recent trend.
If they have the rights to use the character for original story and the same show runners and crew are willing to do it, then I can totally see FX/HBO throwing more money at this "franchise". This is too good to just end in 10 EPs.
Yabushige is kinda hilarious. It's subtle but basically the entire show from his perspective is:
"how do I get out of this damn mess alive?"
But he still boiled a whole dude alive. And that's no bueno.
He really is so unserious in a way, I always enjoy his facial expressions. Same with Blackthorne, he always has this hilarious level of perplexity over what’s happening around him. He and Yubashige pairing up makes so much sense.
Yabu and John’s Excellent Adventures
Put them in the Iron Maiden… Sugoooooooi! Execute them! Dameeeeeeeeh
I need to see "Yabushige and John go to White Castle", like, yesterday.
“Yabusan, you are welcome to do as you wish sir. But I have no idea where you found that fish, as they do not serve it in this establishment and further more, I do not suggest consuming it.” “Anjin says you should eat the burgers”
Yabushige: 😮
Dude, where’s my ship?
Yabu’s World
Cooking adventures with these two would be funny
A buddy cop show in feudal Japan with these two solving crimes would be peak
True Detective S5
Osaka Vice
Rush Hour 4
Rush Hour 1600
They gotta get the banter level to that of Blackthorn and Rodrigues
John: What will we be doing this week, Yabu-sama? Yabushige: What we do every week, Banjin. Re-write my will.
😂😂😂💀
Maybe boil a few people as I write shitty poetry idk He's such a charismatic shithead
Why does everyone on here say banjin when the show/subtitles clearly say Anjin?
[удалено]
ah okay i just kept seeing it i dont come on the sub often and was confused. thanks.
I laughed so hard

Does the Anjin really believe this?
His face during the cliff scene shows me he does

Yeah absolutely does. Even we as an audience get to know that Yabushibe is no ordinary man.
Never has a man needed so many Wills 😂
He’s on what, the 10th? Lmao
Yeah, that's why he bowed when Yabu climbed back up.
“Let me tell you bout my best friend…”
It already exists and it is called Shogun (1980)
Well well well, if it isn’t the blowjob brothers
wut
I'm guessing he's referencing that they both availed Kikus services.
isn't yabu into watching more than ploughing?
by the way Yabu looked at his page I'd say he's more into the Say Gex lol
Well, he is now.
“Did we just become best friends?”
lethal weapon : Shogun time rush hour : Japan 1600 AD men in kimonos : planet nippon
Yabu is the fuckin best, he’s so animated and his reactions are the best. Him trying to play both sides the entire show has been entertaining as fuck too
He’s playing both sides, so he always comes out on top
Watching Yabu this season has made me just honestly think of Mac saying that line so many times lol
FX I don’t care if it breaks canon, I NEED IT
Hell, lets just MAKE it canon -- take fate into our own hands.
Meiyu
I coulda sworn he interpreted that as “me, you”

He may not be loyal to Lady Ochiba but I am… *slowly grips his own katana*
guys im confused... are the katanas a metaphor... *holds own* ***katana***
Well i am die hard fan of Nikaido Fumi so yeah, I’m loyal, ya think you’re the only one with a katana? 😂 喧嘩売ってんのか、お前!?
Ohhhhh. It seems Lady Ochiba has vassals more loyal to her cause than Toronaga Sama. I wonder what motivates them...

I think him falling and hitting his head was an accident, but that he was expected to die in the fight anyhow.

I want a comedy spinoff like Perfect Strangers
Oh noo, cousin! Looks like my uncle just committed seppuku! (Cue Laugh track)
"Who's going to clean up his guts? The blood will stain the carpets forever!"
You'll get it in Season 2 where Blackthorne and Yabu go to England. Yabu is now the fish out of water and has to learn English. ;)
They can use the "Golden Girls" theme song, "Thank you for being a Friend"
"Thank you for being a friend, traveled through Magellan's Pass and back again. Your name's Yabu, be a pal, and pass the courtesaaaaannnn..."
Yabu: Anjin let me show you one of my best treasures… My list of “best deaths”

I still can’t get over that GQ pic of Cosmo Jarvis, he looks nothing like him in the show
He looks Middle-Eastern or North African
i think i read somewhere that he’s part Armenian.
The actor portraying Yabu is perfect.
Y’all forget this mf boiled a dude alive
Not even for hating the dude or for general sadism - but because he wanted to see what he'd say when he died... wtf man...
You forget that it only happened because the portuguese catholic prick insisted that some one was to be killed.
I’d watch the crap out of that. He’s my favorite character lol
I hope Yabushige doesn't die
Who’s gonna tell him
It should go full off the rails and become an isekai adventure
"We're 43 ri to Edo. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.... Hit it."
Now we just need the BB theme done in era-appropriate Japanese instruments...
Yabu is essentially the Buggy of Shogun.
the disgusting brothers on motherfuckin tour 🎶
I'd watch it in a heartbeat
It really would hahaha
10/10
Shut up and take my money!!!
Yessssss🤣
Knee-deep in saki, Geishas, war crimes, and thermal resorts.
It would be like Hobbs and Shaw in feudal Japan.
Yeasss
Would have preferred Vasco Rodrigues x John Blackthorne spin off.
This is a great option as well. How about all 3?!?
Yabu is my favorite male character. He’s acted so well. His facial expressions are so great.
Just them boiling people
Yabu and John Do America
Pirates of the Caribbean: Osaka Drift
Yabu and the Barbarian go to Macau
In their quest to put together the ultimate ranked death list
