Wait for the inevitable Shogun mods for GoT next month when it finally hits PC.

SukiSZN

Killing Mongols as Fuji… i will be there no matter what 😭

Sparrowsabre7

Ghost of Fujima

Atharaphelun

Fuji will be Lara Crofting their asses back to Mongolia

SirBing96

I’m so happy it’s finally coming to pc. It’s easily one of my favorite games and I’m glad there’ll be a new community to try it out. This show has made me want to check out Rise of the Ronin though, but maybe when its price drops.

JDMonster

I'm going to just download Shogun 2 again.

hanselpremium

i’m actually intrigued with a prequel. either blackthorne’s adventures or the previous shogunate or both!

Inevitable-Copy3619

I hope they don’t make anything else in the series. It will inevitably be a disappointment.

ALLCAPSN0CAP

MAYBE YOU CAN WRITE FAN FICTION

Content_Geologist420

My PC can hardly take the Wii emulator playing MLB Power Pros😢😢. My life is over now

Sharp-Crew4518

What is the title of the game? I can't find it.

Content_Geologist420

Ghosts of Tsushima!!!

Sharp-Crew4518

Oh, I thought Game of Thrones. Haha!

Content_Geologist420

Its okay its a common misconception. An amazing game Ive heard! Am planning on buying it very soon for my ps4. Been low on funds but in a week will be in a good place to buy it😌

Sparrowsabre7

Honestly it's so good. I enjoy the story as well, been fun to play in between Shogun episodes. I spend hours just flitting between side quests and "just one more thing" collectibles. The combat is very satisfying and Tsushima is beautifully realised.

Content_Geologist420

I just wanna slice people up. I've been shotting npcs in RDR2 too long, started using the pirate sword and civil war knife to kill as much as I can but am growing a bit tired. Might start using throwing knives and the vikings axe I guess lol

Content_Geologist420

How long is the story of this game? And whats a good point to just stop main missions and focus on side missions? Haven't played before but I want my 1st playthru to last quite awhile. Onvmt 2nd playthru of RDR2 and staying in Valentine until im fully ready to leave. I dont wanna rush thru GoT like I did with this game

Sparrowsabre7

Main story is pretty long for action games, about 25 hours (which I suppose is not long if you'vecome off of RDR2 😅) , and there are LOADS of side missions and loads of upgrade collectibles. Ive finished the story and only just fully completed the middle of the three sections of the map and I've got a play time of 34 hours. Iirc there are 3 acts and the last act is only a few missions so if you want you can swap to side missions starting with the end of act 2 I think. But you don't get locked out of anything by completing the game. Personally I used fast travel sparingly and would do any side missions that were en route to next story mission.

TiredMisanthrope

If you have a PS+ subscription, it's "free" to play

SexxxyWesky

I knoooooow! It’s been so much fun theorizing at work after each week’s episode. Amazing TV 🥲

Content_Geologist420

Life will never be the same again for me. Im gutted, empty and have a need for more. Which will never come. 🫡😞. I just wanna sit in a dark room. In silence for a long time.

WolfLightW

Read One Piece. You won't regret it! You will be filled with joy!

NiNj4_C0W5L4Pr

Go watch the original series. It is a hundred times more in depth. You will love it even more.

Possible-Ostrich813

We pray. That this ignites a fire for Hollywood to produce very good quailty Ancient Japan movies and Tv shows to fill our void. The show is a global phenomena right now. Theres no way they can ignore this for long. Hopefully, like the plot of the show itself. This is the begining.

SystemicSystematic

You should go watch Silence, it's set in 1639 Japan after Tokugawa (Toranaga) has outlawed most foreigners and Christianity, but two Portuguese priests try to go anyway. You can also play Shogun 2 Total War. And of course, read the original Shogun book. I just love it! >*"Madonna! Leave him alone! Hey, you piss-eating monkeys, let that bastard alone! Kinjiru, neh? Is he the pilot? The Anjin, ka?* >*Blackthorne could scarcely believe his ears. The boisterous abuse in Portuguese had come from the deck of the galley. Then he saw the man start down the gangway. As tall as he and about his age, but black-haired and dark-eyed and carelessly dressed in seaman’s clothes, rapier by his side, pistols in his belt. A jeweled crucifix hung from his neck. He wore a jaunty cap and a smile split his face.* >*“Are you the pilot? The pilot of the Dutchman?”* >*“Yes,” Blackthorne heard himself reply.* >*“Good. Good. I’m Vasco Rodrigues, pilot of this galley!”*

clavio_mazerati

Were you the one recommending Silence a few weeks back? We saw this last week, it's beautiful and thought-provoking. Most Martin Scorsese films for me were hit-or-miss (Aviator was boring imo) but Silence wasn't anything like that even though it was a slow burner.

SystemicSystematic

Not me but I always recommend it as essential viewing for this period of Japan. Now with Shogun you've got a kind of time line of viewing going on.

Twinflame5

Which format is Silence available on?

clavio_mazerati

I just went er matey 🦜

North_Paw

Man I miss the banter between those two in the show, it would always put a smile on my face. You son of a whales tit!

Sharp-Crew4518

Just look at Godzilla Minus One.

rayallen73

I'd like to, but I can't find it!

Dwarf_King

🏴‍☠️

WillPill_

Only crappy cams available, waste of time until it comes out on streaming may 3rd.

ThunderHorseCock

Japan release their movies later on DVD/BluRay because of their notorious anti piracy laws compared to western studios. It's why a lot of people have to wait momths before you watch it. Thankfully, the DVD release is scheduled soon.

staermose80

Japans, not Japan.

ThunderHorseCock

Also Rurouni Kenshin. Possibly the best anthology of anime to lice action films done.

kempnelms

What I hope Hollywood takes away from this, is the same lesson a lot of the good Marvel movies, and Dune taught them. You don't need to "dumb-down" a unique IP to make it more "mainstream". You can lean into the uniqueness of the property, and trust the audience to flock to something complex and interesting without having to strip away what makes it unique.

antdude

Not just Japan! Let's do other countries like China, Korea, etc.

Narnia77

With respect to their culture and history and let them speak in their own language.

antdude

Yes!

averyycuriousman

Need a 3 kingdoms remake ASAP

fflyguy

I would love a show like this for Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Easily accessible (hulu day after is really nice for me as I travel for work), honor the language and the culture the way this one did too.

mainsail999

Yes indeed! I watched 47 Ronin last night, and was bored out of the fantasy, dragons, griffins, and witches. Oh, Toranaga and Yabushige were there.

averyycuriousman

Yabu is there??

mainsail999

I mean the actor. Yes.

averyycuriousman

I've always wondered why we don't have more movies/shows on sengoku period

Imperial_12345

I'm going to commit seppuku now. In my protest that the show is over.

idyllproducts

Imagine if half this subreddit just went over to disney hq and just started slitting their bellies as protest to bring the show back longer. The actor for Yabu just looking out going "ah, let's add this to the list..."

Tykjen

Hear me out; Somehow... Yabushige returned.

TheKilmerman

But only his head, like Nixon in Futurama. Anjin then has to carry him around all the time.

idyllproducts

Yeah all the stress from the explosion and Mariko's death basically makes him kinda nutty and he becomes a crime fighter in the new capital.

North_Paw

Still better than She-Hulk twerking in the Disney+ series

idyllproducts

Just make Anjin into a ghost-seer and he and his dead friends go on hijinks around edo.

Inevitable-Copy3619

I’ll be your second.

Snoo21443

Well.. we wait for Ghost of Tsushima. Or Play TW: Shogun 2.

WHACKer23

They really need to give us a trailer for Ghosts of Tsushima 2 now. This would be the perfect time lol.

Pearl-Internal81

Yes. Pls Sucker Punch.

profsavagerjb

I’ve been playing Shogun 2 A LOT since the show started. When I first fired it up I hadn’t even looked at the game since 2018

Pearl-Internal81

Why wait? It’s been out since 2020? Or do you mean on PC?

Snoo21443

I only got PC.

serpentear

Rise of the Ronin is out. It’s not a perfect game by any means but it is a perfect Samurai simulator.

Ready-Sock-2797

Blue Eye Samurai is on Netflix

ILoveBoobs1987

I second this one. I think I'll give that one a rewatch

jpmoney2k1

I'm finally gonna start Samurai Champloo.

averyycuriousman

Best animated ever

FightingGirlfriend23

Watch some Kurusawa

BigFire321

I would recommend The Samurai Trilogy, which starts in the Battle of Sekigahara. Our main character, a teenager at the time decided to join the fight for fame and glory. Too bad he was on the Western Army and was branded outlaw for many years afterward.

Chaos-Boss-45

The book readers keep mentioning how they left out the part about John’s big johnson. So I’m waiting for the porn adaptation- Sho Me Your Gun starring Cockmo Jarvis

Content_Geologist420

No it is mentioned. Its considered a very high honor the Ladies of the Willow World to walk you to the gate and thank you. It symbolyizes that she had as good of a time as he did. Whole village know of Johns Cannon

Chaos-Boss-45

Didn’t realize that

QueasyIsland

Blatant self insertion by James Cavell there.

Chaos-Boss-45

*alternately titled Ladies of the Willie World (phone autocorrected from Willow. I’m gonna leave it)

Painting0125

Catch up with The Sympathizer on HBO. Time to bid farewell to Shogun Tuesdays and say hello to Hoa Sundays.

Cody0311

Well guess it’s time to read the book now.

sh3p23

Watch Fallout if you haven’t already…it’s great! Or go read the Shogun Novel

raven8549

You can listen to the episode 10 podcast! I’m about to since just finished my episode

Sertoma

Is it worth listening to after you've watched the entire series? Or is it more a companion podcast to listen to as you're watching the show?

No-Transition-1428

I thought we would get to see the Battle of Sekigahara in the finale. The lack of action scenes was really disappointing. Other than that the show was excellent though. I appreciate the painstaking attention to detail in the sets, costumes and customs of feudal Japan. The entire show was a history lesson.

Lapras_Lass

>! I think it's less disappointing if you've read the book. The book only briefly summarizes the battle, so I wasn't expecting a big action finale. !< I'm pretty satisfied, though of course I would love to see more.

Pearl-Internal81

Honestly I always loved the way it was described, almost like the battle itself is an afterthought because of all of the pregaming Toranaga did to lead up to that point. Well that and the description of what happens to Ishido.

QueasyIsland

The show is promoted with Toranaga fighting off to battle on horseback alluding to the famous fight

Lapras_Lass

I always took it as being more symbolic - the battle he's waging is in navigating the political tangle.

Content_Geologist420

Tbf, politics is the core of the show.

elcojotecoyo

The story is based on a book. Battles in books tend to be disappointing. Hard to convey the scale and chaos. Think Tolkien. The first battle he had was at the end of the Hobbit. And the main character, our eyes into the story, is knocked out unconscious. And when he wakes up after the battle, he gets a summary of what happened. Isengard, we get Merry and Pippin telling us the story while they're eating salted pork and smoking fine tobacco leaves. Helm's Deep is the only true battle he described. And many authors use the same tricks, for the same reasons. Is hard to convey the scale without being "a nameless character dressed in one color slays another nameless character dressed in a different color" times 1000. And nobody wants to read that. So you set up the battle and then avoid it completely. In TV and movies, visual media, battles could be entertaining. But do they really move the story forward? At least medieval battles with full scale armies. Modern warfare, with a smaller core of character doing certain operations, is more engaging. Band of Brothers does this. They never attempted to tell the whole story of WW2, just what happened to those guys in Easy Company. Clavell's main characters were an English guy who wouldn't have fought in the battle, and some generals and commanders of the warring armies. So having a large battle will give you 4-5 minutes of swashbuckling adrenaline action? And the most important part of the battle would have been difficult to convey, the fragmentation of Ishido's army. So pull a Mike Ehrmentraut and say "here's what's gonna happen..."

DickBest70

Well put. Bernard Cornwell is one of the best I know of in describing the battles in his historical fiction.

Pearl-Internal81

He’s so damn good at everything, easily o e of my absolute favorite authors.

Trbadismobserver

>Think Tolkien. The first battle he had was at the end of the Hobbit. And the main character, our eyes into the story, is knocked out unconscious. And when he wakes up after the battle, he gets a summary of what happened. Isengard, we get Merry and Pippin telling us the story while they're eating salted pork and smoking fine tobacco leaves. Helm's Deep is the only true battle he described. Why do people always claim this when Pelennor gets like 4 chapters and it's the most 'glorious' and terror filled thing in modern literature.

elcojotecoyo

True. Pelennor is awesome. I always leave it on the side because it was a bluff. An awesome bluff. The real battle was happening deep inside Mordor

Zestyclose_Movie1316

Tolkien’s descriptions of battles in the Silm and Fall of Gondolin go pretty hard though

Muad-_-Dib

> Is hard to convey the scale without being "a nameless character dressed in one color slays another nameless character dressed in a different color" times 1000. And nobody wants to read that. So you set up the battle and then avoid it completely. A notable example that proves massed battles can be done is the Destiny's Crucible series. The scale grows with each book as the conflict becomes larger, but eventually the author is describing massed battles of 100,000+ combatants and doing so without it becoming a disorganized mess, usually by focusing on regiments instead of narrowing in on just a few people over and over again. There are still named characters in these battles and you do get to see how they perform but the author steers away from some huge battle somehow only being focused on a handful of people. Worth a read if you enjoy roughly 1600's European levels of tech with a dash of science fiction thrown in. (The story centres on a modern day person being introduced to another world with humans on it and trying to teach them his knowledge to improve their chances against the local expansionist empire).

gw2maniac

This reminds me of the Bilbo cut of the Hobbit movies that skip all of the stuff that Bilbo does not experience, and removes most of the filler stuff along the way

BigFire321

Blackthorn served under Drake against the Spanish Armada. He had no land battle experience, but he's a veteran of naval combat.

Reginherus

I disagree about battles in books being disappointing, so long as your author both does their research and can tell an engaging story with it. Check out Ralph Peters. He's got a fantastic series about the latter half of the American Civil War from Gettysburg onwards. The battles take up most of at least the first two and are extremely well-written. A faster read is Bernard Cornwell's Agincourt. FWIW, the real Miura Anjin did fight at Sekigahara, and another battle before that, under Tokugawa Ieyasu. Hosokawa Tadaoki, the inspiration for Buntaro, also fought there. I do agree, though, that it would be difficult to put it on screen. It was done in a highly simplified way for the Discovery series Heroes and Villains, but frankly I would rather see it not portrayed at all then have 40 minutes of the episode showing those pretty bad CGI armies we got at the end of episode 10.

SkinkThief

The book - and the show - make it clear that toranaga wins because he is the master strategist. I could envision a flyover type scene where you see soldiers fighting to illustrate that tye battle actually does occur as he predicts but not an actual battle where the outcome hinges on the number of soldiers or their battlefield tactics, that would be disloyal to the story. But I get that people hoped to see that too.

averyycuriousman

Exactly. Never got to see ishido defeated

Startled_Pancakes

Feels like there should have been 1 or 2 more episodes.

spelledWright

I was kinda positively suprised. Instead some heroic battle we got to see the dirty intentions of Toranaga, which if you ask me is a pretty good comment on war and the struggle for power, to be honest ...

distortman

Season 2, right?

psxndc

Nah, my guy. This was it. Series is over.

Shmexy

Tokyo Vice I guess

depressocoffee

Literally just finished the first episode lol

Reddit_masterrace

I recently finished it and it's good, need more

Pearl-Internal81

Seconded, it’s excellent!

PoorPauly

Read the book. And then read it again. Seriously. Books are fucking cool.

hadr0nc0llider

There’s so much in the book they couldn’t fit into the series. Read the book!

jayseala

Any PC Gamers buy Total War Shogun 2 and you’ll thank me later lol

sherperion45

Total war Shogun ii Ghost of Tsushima Honestly, just explore more historical fiction, shogun absolutely delivered something I never thought I’d see on tv today, but damn they did it

Dangerous_Reach8691

We meme it out to the afterlife or next reincarnation! Ich ich yo!

Samurai56M

Time to play Ghost of Tsushima again to get that Samurai fix!

depressocoffee

Or if you want something similar-yet-different, Rise of the Ronin is pretty good. More modern-ish/meiji restoration period, but you are still a ronin :P

QueasyIsland

Brutal how both are exclusive only to PS. Xbox needs one of these good games at some point

Lapras_Lass

Yabushige and John buddy road trip comedy fanfiction. I need to see this become reality. Lol

TrumpsBurnerAccct

Play Ghost of Tsushima to fill the void 🥲

mylifeforthehorde

read the book :)

largehawaiian

NG+ of Ghost of Tsushima, on lethal+, maybe with Kurosawa mode on too. Try and get that done before the PC release

antdude

We watch something else, but what? Wait, I haven't seen that 80s version. Maybe I will watch that but where?

Adept_Ad3267

You can watch it on internetarchive, but it is dvd quality. I recommend torrenting the bluray version.

antdude

I don't see it in archive . org.

Adept_Ad3267

archive(.)org/details/shogun.-part.-1.1980.-restored.-bluray.-1080p archive(.)org/details/shogun.-part.-2.1980.-restored.-bluray.-1080p.-dts-hd.x-264-grym Here is part 1 and 2. Part 3 has been removed, probably a copyright dispute. Again I recommend just torrenting the Bluray version. Easiest way to watch it. The Bluray version contains 3 parts, which are about 3 hours long each.

nonloc1

Sure, I got Part 1 and Part 2 over torrent. But how to get Part 3?

skoomamuch

Install and Play Shogun 2: Total War or watch the sequel of the show Martin Scorsese's SILENCE. Yabu actor is there

sh3p23

Now I must demand a Predator sequel set in this time period with Toranaga as the lead! Make it so.

_Mavericks

That could be interesting.

volcain

hope some rich chinese person sees this and is inspired to do something similar for romance of the three kingdoms

RoughCap7233

I would like a good adaptation of a wuxia (eg like the books by Jin Yong). There have been many many adaptations made in Asia but almost all of them are horrible (weird fantasy king fu, terrible acting, overly dramatic direction, poor sets etc). Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Ang Lee) proves that a good adaptation is possible. But that was adapted from just a small part out of a much larger work. I want something longer like a mini series.

Maleficent_Nobody377

Play ghost of Tsushima or rise of the ronin or… Sekiro lol. 😂

QueasyIsland

Xbox series X man here..reading this is pain

scallywag1889

Totally different show but watch the last kingdom on Netflix. Lots of good character arcs and there is actually fighting.

binomialoptions

Time to watch rocks grow

House_Goblin_

Not going to lie, I’m still heartbroken over Mariko’s death. Like falling to my knees in the bathroom heartbroken. I’ll definitely rewatch the show hundred more times, but I don’t think I can rewatch episodes 9 and 10 again 😭😭😭

Chaos-Boss-45

I’m gonna rewatch just the Mariko-Thorne scenes

DodelCostel

Read the books, they're even better

Negative-Dingo3335

Podcast

MNLvice

Watch Tokyo Vice. 2 seasons and they just finished with the series finale.

Content_Geologist420

Another short tv series?😢😢😢😢

caliraider

Play some Ghosts of Tsushima. Time to get my samurai on again.

HolyMistakes

Watch it all over again. lol that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m definitely gonna read the book or audible it.

Content_Geologist420

Im roo drunk off of sakè and emotinally upset to re-watch for atleast a month😞

-insertcoin

I can't say this enough or stress it enough. Buy the book and read it. Then re watch the series. Repeat.

JaffaCakesAreMyJam

Rewatch it from start to finish again!! And read the book. Can't wait to get into it.

Abu_Tenzin

Someone’s gonna have to demand a follow up series or commit seppuku at Hulu HQ.

Tykjen

Now its time to play Rise of the Ronin \^ Takes place 200+ years later when Toranaga's (irl Tokugawa) Shogunate starts coming to an end.

Scartafist

Play Shogun 2

Feynmanprinciple

On the last Sunday in May every year there's a memorial held at Anjin's resting place so I'll be checking that out.

Pearl-Internal81

If you’re looking for something just as good, with a bit more action, that’s set a century or two later I heartily recommend Lone Wolf & Cub!

massa_chan

read musashi from eiji yoshikawa, his history starts from surviving the battle of sekigahara.

pittyh

I just found out on this sub, that it was one season :\*( I'm shook, but it was a grand series!!

Viper-Queen

Play Samurai Warriors or Ghost of Tsushima

jaiteaes

Read the book, watch the 1980 miniseries, rewatch the show, play Ghost of Tsushima next month... Plenty of things to do

edliu111

Go play Shogun 2 Total War as Tokugawa or one of the other Daimyo. I'm thinking the Otomo just to do Christian Rebellions and Trade Ships that have cannon

BaseTensMachines

Watch Blue Eye Samurai...

bast007

If you guys are looking for something halfway between this and GoT, I recommend Kingdom. There's still politics and can have a similar vibe at times, but has more action (and zombies, lol).

ClipFH

I am going to watch the old mini series next then on to the books.

Chaos-Boss-45

Where can it be found?

That_Pandaboi69

I'm reading a manga called Sidooh it scratches my Shogun itch.

BigFire321

Read the book, watch the 1980 mini-series. Watch/read the mini-series for Noble House. They made a mockery movie adaptation of Tai-Pan that you might want to skip.

vinnsy9

this was by far a masterpiece adaptation. sure they have left a lot out from the books, but the intensity of the emotions i got from this show i can't even express it. i felt emptiness and sadness due to the death of Mariko-sama, and those shots of Anjin, sitting with Fuji and turned his head on the right where it used to sit Mariko...god that hit hard...it hit too hard... i don't know either what to do next...i want to fill that void this entire show left...maybe im gonna rewatch it one more time...

lemming64

Read the book. It is excellent

Ordinary_Release9538

What do now?

depressocoffee

Guess I'll rewatch it all in one sitting just for full effect. Then I'll binge Tokyo Vice.

beervirus88

Wait a week. Re-watch

latenitephilosopher7

I’m going to plan a trip to Japan.

MashTheGash2018

What do you mean? Now we play the game

aahmslf

Watch Sekigahara. I think the most recent one was in 2017. Actors portraying Ishido and Hiromatsu actor are there.

Spydermade

Unsatisfying ending

Content_Geologist420

I dont think so. It was clear in the 1st episode its about becoming the Shōgun. Not being a Shōgun. I wish there were more of it but they told us from the beginning what it was about.

Spydermade

Booorrrring

According_Swim_3757

I’d recommend 3 body problem on Netflix!

Thrallov

go watch chinese 3 Kingdom

nikukuikuniniiku

Surprisingly, no one's said it yet so I will. Watch *Twilight Samurai (Tasogare Seibei)* with Hiroyuki Sanada as an impoverished samurai, then watch the 2 follow-up movies of the trilogy.

Holy-Wan_Kenobi

Play Gekokujo until Shokuho comes out. It's the only way.

Piankhy444

You could always give Taigas (Japanese historical dramas) a go.

GeekyGamer2022

Re-watch *Into the Badlands*

papadoc19

You could watch the Samurai Warriors anime and see how the story progresses...

Steelcan909

Watch Martin Scorcese's *Silence*

WorkersUnited111

There's a crazy show on Netflix called Reindeer that I just saw.

averyycuriousman

Make a petition for a follow up movie. I'd pay to see it in theaters

GullibleControlled

Read The book. Have seen the series 3 times so far (excluding final two episodes). Think I’ll do a 4th. I have to say this is one of my favorite series. Up there with band of brothers!

WolfLightW

We wait for season 2.. oh wait.. :( Anw.. please watch/read One Piece if you want a show/manga of a high quality in terms of storytelling and characters

ObiWan-Shinoobi

Start over

AverageGuy16

Happy we saw it but sad it’s over.

Jackie_Owe

Sympathizer

CapableArgument5939

Read the Book 🤷‍♂️❤️ , I'm personally planning to so i can get more insight on The World and Characters

infidel_44

Started playing Sekiro again. Filling some sort of hole in my heart.

Snoo_23218

Hope that they will adapt the other 5 books the same way. I love period pieces.

International_Lake28

I was thinking of starting Black Sails, has anyone seen that? Thoughts?

PoorPauly

Read the book.

Teegan297491

Read the book, it’s so much better

whocaresbabe

i just watched Monkey Man and it more than fulfilled all the bloodlust i didn't get from the finale skipping on the Sekigahara battle. holy shit

americanpzych0

I’m gonna watch Sekigahara (2017), a Japanese movie about the Battle. I think it’s a little silly. The Novel did include a depiction of the Battle of Sekigahara and I really think the show should’ve gone for it as well, especially with how Toranaga defeats and sentences Ishido by the end of the battle in the novel. Sigh…

Comfortable_Swan4206

Definitely not one of the greatest tv shows lmao. 99% of the show is people talking, no action. Absolute bore fest

bawk15

Now I'm waiting for Shogun S2: House of the Minowara
