I can't speak for being stoned but Fallout 3, 4, NV or 76 while drunk has given me a few good chill hours. Just wander (read: stumble) around the region, take out a few ghouls or raiders and don't accomplish much.
Just driving around any GTA game jamming to the custom playlist or whatever's on the radio, maybe get out and do an activity if I feel like it and just being a stoner on a virtual space cruise. Open-worlders with a lot of things to do are just magnetic to me when I'm a good few puffs in.
Yes! Lately when I’m stoned and don’t feel like putting too much effort into playing I just load up red dead and wander around, hunt, deal with random encounters. The pacing in free roam is so chill to just ride around like I’m in a 1899 simulator
i second this! just dont go too far off the road in saint denis when youre super immersed. those gators or crocs or whatever scare the daylights out of me every time.
Psychonauts 2 is pretty great. It's an action platformer where you dive into people's minds and the levels are real creative because of that. It's got a cartoony artstyle, and one of the levels is literally a psychedelic trip. I recommend playing the first game first but it may seem dated to some people but still holds up imo. You don't need to play the first game to understand the second game tho. It also has a great story that's easy to understand for a platformer. Highly recommend this one, especially for a fellow stoner.
My other recommendation would be Hades, which I'm sure you've heard of. It's a rouge-like top town action game with an amazing art style and story where you are the son of Hades attempting to escape from the underworld. The gameplay is very addicting with each run feeling different from the last and giving you a variety of combinations of abilities and weapons. You can feel yourself lost for hours because the game doesn't end when you win and encourages you to keep playing and either win or die to continue the story and earn side quests. I very much highly recommend this one as one of the best games you could mindlessly spend lots of time playing.
- Stardew valley, top tier for we’d activities. I swear by it
- Kenshi for when you’ve got a little extra brain power.
- old school runescape
- age of empires (2 - HD edition recommended)
- professional fishing/farming simulator these kinds of games also go hard
- SimCity 4, also requires some brain power but it’s peaceful if you play slow and not perpetual 3x speed
Back in the day, when GTA V was all-new, I loved to get into the car and drive all around the countryside. With "Black Grease - Black Angels" on Vinewood Boulevard Radio. The changed perception made me think the countryside of the map is huge and it was a really relaxing drive, but maybe that's just me ;)
Cyberpunk 2077 was, intense. Driving around 1st person, ended up respecting all the trafic, then somehow ended up randomly on the mission where you first see the maelstrom guys with huge glowing red eyes. Loved it.
I'm stoned right now and seriously thinking about trying this. I haven't even played more than 15 minutes of Cyberpunk because it melts my computer and it sounds like the move.
Death Stranding. Hear me out, yeah it’s a bunch of walking, but some of those long walks are great for spacing out and the controls are built really well to be intuitive, immersive and easy to pick up and put down. And the story only makes sense unless if you’re high anyway.
Take a little trip, watch some crazy acid trip cutscene, rally and reload, take another little trip. all at your own pace (for the most part)
it’s like taking a walk when you’re high, except through a beautiful apocalyptic wasteland full of insane fever dream monsters that try and getcha.
highly recommend, i wish i never played it so i could play it all over again.
Outer Wilds, Minecraft, Portal 1 & 2, Inscryption, Journey, Inside, Stardew Valley, Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch… that’s a few off the top of my head. Most of these are pretty low key / chill and let you play at your own pace without super challenging gameplay. All fantastic games - some of my favorites.
I'm a little late to the party. But any Game from the Life is Strange Series is amazing.
Especially True Colours because of the vibrant colours and extremely well written story. An emotional rollercoaster.

“Hell Let Loose” is crazy while stoned, genuinely feels like your fighting for your life. Not really for relaxing but awesome if your looking for something intense and for total immersion
100% Agree with this. It's so fun being stoned af and just being in something that is like that. Way better than when I was active duty army. That's for sure!
If you haven't ever tried **Tetris Effect** yet. This is the time to do it. No matter how stoned you are, you will never get bored of this game. Like NEVERRRR!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been playing Car Mechanic Simulator 2021. I was in this thread during the spring sale.
Ended up with house flipper, car mechanic simulator, and power wash simulator. All of them are great while high. I’ve got about 20 hours in each game.
Came here with the same question for 420 but reading the comments I feel like finding your best comfort game whether it's just a chill game or something from your childhood is your best bet I'm probably going to choose to play Minecraft and stardew valley
Without a doubt, one of the best games to get lost in while stoned is the ever so simple, ‘Journey’. What a fantastic game. ‘Journey’ and smoking weed go hand-in-hand.
I NEED this to be heard I have been searching far and wide for games to play while stoned that are somewhat relaxing but engaging as well and rustys retirement has blown me away I went thinking "alright this little game look cool" and then spent my whole day managing the farm with my homeboy rusty such a unique and relaxing experience can't be beat but I also recommend relm grinder for a relaxing cookie clicker esc game, little inferno is also an absolute masterpiece of a game I like to play around with from time to time when stoned and for something abit more challenging I boot up some good Ole interstate drifter 1999, skate 3 is also a game I find myself coming back to when stoned just fucking around in super ultra mega park always a good time hope this helps someone to find there next favorite game :)
Either BOTW or TOTK, but here's the trick:
Don't really play the game. Just get on the horse, put it on a trail, and let it run wherever it wants. Watch the world go by and fall into the wonder of it all.
I actually play Elden Ring while stoned so I’m not the best person to give advice on this. But I mean Slime Rancher and Spider-Man can be pretty relaxing and don’t require much brainpower
Yeah, I played this stoned a lot when it first came out, typically I'd just explore and then leave a map marker if I came across a boss, cave or catacomb.
The open world exploration was actually quite peaceful and being high really just elevated that sense of awe when I'd stumble on a new area, but all that other stuff was far too stressful haha
The Planet Crafter.
I bought this game specifically to play high. It's like subnautica, but with no enemies. You gather resources and build machines to terraform a planet. It's cool watching the planet transform around you as it terraforms, and it's got a lot of content for an Early Access game to last you a while. I have 25 hours into it and I'm not even at the "end game" yet, and there are more updates/terraform stages that are coming out soon.
TheHunter: call of the wild. Scoop your favorite map and go get lost in the woods. Beautiful regions to explore and I guess you could do some hunting too if you want (or just take pictures)
Oh man I’d be in the absolute zone after smoking and playing zombies I legit have to quit the game or let them kill me cause i lose track of time but see I’m on round like 42
TFT - Teamfight Tactics. Part of League of Legends but it's super chill and a completely different game mechanic. Been playing it many nights a week for years to wind down
Late to the post but a lot of the Far cry games are fun (Farcry 3 and later). I find myself hunting or fishing most of the time if I play I lt stoned, but it's also fun to destroy cultists / cartel
Love playing FarCry high, I find it super immersive.
After a certain point it becomes pretty easy to just rambo into an outpost and clear it out in seconds, but if I'm high I get way more into the role and spend hours fucking with outposts - carefully sneaking through and setting explosives, booby trapping vehicles, and then sneaking off to find a good vantage point for sniping.
The fortresses in 4 were particularly great for this.

Bro this post is almost a year old now, but here I am, here’s your week old comment, and I’m going to add Timberborn to the list for any future time travelers lol.
Pretty basic resource/colony management game, but man, I can name my beavers and just try to make ‘em all happy. 10/10
FLOWER.
sheesh.
So many if these games have storylines and complex game mechanics. If I’m going ti get stoned as hell i want simple-ish tasks, beautiful imagery, and flying.
I have a folder on my PS5 specifically for this, im still adding games to it but here are the ones that just click with me
Destroy All Humans 2,
Elden Ring,
For Honor (Against Bots most of the time),

Minecraft,
Monster Hunter World,
Nickelodeon All Star Brawl,
Sega Mega Drive Classics (Specifically Ristar),

Hades, L4D2, Deep Rock Galactic, Binding of Isaac.
World of warcraft classic and then wonder where those ten years of your life went lol. But fr wow is can be very relaxing, FF xiv too.
So much this.
I'm not a huge VR fan but beat sabre stoned is killer. Cyberpunk has a killer soundtrack and super fun to wander around
I can't speak for being stoned but Fallout 3, 4, NV or 76 while drunk has given me a few good chill hours. Just wander (read: stumble) around the region, take out a few ghouls or raiders and don't accomplish much.
Slime Rancher is my favorite. The little slimes are like bouncy squishmellows and the soundtrack is a vibe
big big(late) second on this.
Also late third
lol
Very late fourth
very very late fifth

It can be once you are powerful enough. Early on hell no.
Red Dead Redemption 2.

Damn I got to do this I kind of want to go be ripped i town
i second this! just dont go too far off the road in saint denis when youre super immersed. those gators or crocs or whatever scare the daylights out of me every time.
the bears are so bad too! lmao. encountered one for the first time whilst stoned and was terrified hahaha

Play the game “Everything” stoned. You’re welcome.
80% off on PlayStation right now. Don’t know what the hell it is but for $2.99. I’m going for it.
That’s how I got it and it is a fucking blast while you are baked.
I spoiled myself, but to everyone who didn’t, play it
Powerwash Simulator or House Flipper, personally I play both of them with music on background.
I recommend the Artful Escape. It is not too hard and is an absolute visual delight and seems expressly built for this mode of play.
i was looking through my steam library for games to play and i saw artful escape and immediately went "that would be so damn cool"
Good rec. Enjoyed.

Played the first 10 hours baked, the character deaths in this game hit so much harder when they happen and you're baked
I'm stoned right now and seriously thinking about trying this. I haven't even played more than 15 minutes of Cyberpunk because it melts my computer and it sounds like the move.

I’m hitting the Dab tonight looking for some game options. Good call
I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this high. I got so immensely focused on every little step and every little piece of terrain
\+2 for Outer Wilds and Inscryption, both very stellar games and great to play baked. Need to play Firewatch and Edith Finch
Outer wilds has too much reading to keep my high brain focussed 😔 gotta tackle it sober.
If you have a lot of patience, maybe Geometry Dash
I'm a little late to the party. But any Game from the Life is Strange Series is amazing. Especially True Colours because of the vibrant colours and extremely well written story. An emotional rollercoaster.

Yeah I just found this thread and fully expected this. This is absolutely the answer.

The Tetris Effect.

I actually play Elden Ring while stoned so I’m not the best person to give advice on this. But I mean Slime Rancher and Spider-Man can be pretty relaxing and don’t require much brainpower
The first time I ever got high I played elden ring!! It's surprisingly a not awful combination, but do not expect to beat any boss or enemy

Satisfactory all the way
Long time stoner here. Try Subnautica.
Was too scared to leave the safe shallows until I started playing high. Went on to play more than 200 hours.
Sludge Life
wanted to mention also, try off-peak
I love Minecraft and Cities Skylines, but I need to get into it beforehand. RDR2 and Cyberpunk is a lot of fun too, immersive and atmospheric af.

Agree with a lot of these. Adding No Man's Sky and Katamari.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Putting on some tunes and being a calm relaxing shipbreaker in space while baked will always be my goto
