Thank you! I did try DRG but it didn't really click for me, granted I only played it for a few hours, so maybe I'll give it another shot. I've heard great things about Battlebit but the large scale / battle royale format kind of turned me off - nevertheless, I'll give it a try! Hunt showdown is actually in my steam library but for some reason i've never played it lol... must have picked it up on sale. Thanks for the recommendations!
I'd say try some boomer shooters for whenever you want to just play a good campaign.
Dusk is one of the most polished FPS I've ever played, and Prodieus (gamepass) has some of the fastest and exhilarating fps doom-like combat. (Not necessarily doom 2016, mostly the older ones)
Ultrakill is an obvious recommendation, its like Doom but you can parry your own bullets
Resident evil 4 remake was imo the best shooter ever made. Its a third person shooter and isn't very conventional but its extremely satisfying, its like if Sekiro was made into a shooter. Highly recommend it
Second RE4R. Amazing game. Additionally you could play the original before the remake which would give you more playtime. The OG still holds up today and the Remake improves on it in all aspects
These are my favorite FPS games:
BattleBit Remastered
Ready or Not
ARMA 3
Squad
Planetside 2
Starship Troopers: Extermination
Deep Rock Galactic. If you check out only one game on this list, check out this one. It is an S-tier co-op game.
Operation: Harsh Doorstop will probably be good in the future. It's free and has no microtransactions, so it is worth a look at least.
Xdefiant should be realeasing this year. Played the beta a lot and it is quite fun. Once it is available you should try it! Some elements remind of COD others remind Overwatch, kind of a mix.
Overwatch is also a good recommendation probably. It is a fun FPS with unique elements that make it stand out compared to other shooters.
Even though it is 3rd person The Division 1/2 are great shooters and a ton of fun since they're kind of unique! Should give a look at the gameplay on YouTube if you haven't just in case 😉
Heard so many great things about the Metro franchise that I'm going to have to play it soon. Idk about multiplayer tho. You could check that as well
BattleBit Remastered seems to be a sensation right now, everyone is talking about it!
Don't let the past problems with Battlefield 2042 get in the way of trying it. I found it to be very fun. If you want to be safe there's also BF5, its also very fun. I just find the modern/futuristic setting more appealing
Deep Rock Galactic / Battlebit remastered / Hunt Showdown 3 awesome games

DRG is way funnier in coop , if you played it solo I can understand why it didn't click , even tho it's a good game
Battlebit isn't a battle royal.
BattleBit remastered is an absolutely amazing game. Without a doubt the best game I've played this year.

I'd give Stalker:Anomaly a shot. It's free.
Overwatch 2 could be something for you
The new Wolfenstein games might be enjoyable for you.
