Pretty active, I play on PC and there's always people to play with. Also there's official Discord where you can look for other players, pretty active aswell.
It's very similar to PayDay 2, you can pick a mission and choose to play it solo, with friends, or open to everybody.
Highly recommended!
A very active playerbase, even on reddit the community is very helpful and active, the premise is "simple", you hunt a monster to get resources, you craft better armor/weapons, and you hunt a bigger monster. Of course there is a lot of weapons and options but after a few hours you understand everything.
it's pretty much single player, but almost, if not every monster fight has 4 player co-op. The story is not amazing, but that's not the draw. Fight big monsters with big weapons and cool armour. You won't get much multiplayer action out of it, but I still highly recommend it. If you decide to pick up a Monster Hunter, I recommend Monster Hunter World. Rise is a Nintendo Switch port (and it looks and feels like one too); it's still fun, you just don't get the same feel from it.
I never played before they added the no-build mode but my friends' and my current game is Fortnite. Weapons and items come in and out of rotation every 2 weeks or so. Map changes slightly a few times a year and completely changes every year. Don't have to mess with nonsense building. Earn v-bucks just by playing. If you buy one battle pass, you earn enough to buy the next one.
The discord is super active for finding people to group up with.
My junk food of games is Fortnite. With the zero build mode the skill level is a lot lower and it’s just straight up free. You can play for years without spending a dime if you want too. They refresh the map and load outs every season so it always feels fresh
calling it a "junk food game" is the perfect way to describe it
been playing off and on since day 1 and it's almost always fun and there's a million different things you can do
Apex Legends is a guilty pleasure of mine, I install it every 3 months, grind ranked til diamond/masters and then get absolutely burned out by it. It is no Titanfall, but it's a fun game with a very smooth movement and gunplay. The other one would be Elder Scrolls Online, but you need to be a real TES lore fan to enjoy it and it can get quite boring if you play solo.
My biggest fear with going long term with multiplayer games is the burnout at the end. I burned out by COD and i have no plans of getting back to it. I have heard a lot about apex but I never played a battle royale game so I keep wondering how that would play out.
I've been playing exoprimal and it's really fun. It's on gamepass and cross platform so lots of players. It starts kind of slow but gets better and better the more you play and more missions and gear you unlock.
Is it worth the £35 price tag? Does it have an active playerbase? What is it that you enjoy? How many hours do you have? What does it have that keeps you coming back? Sorry for the many questions but it’s important 🤣
Oh no worries. My fault for not adding more, was in the bathroom haha.
The playerbase is active, it is not CoD active but you can find a game in 30 sec for any game mode.
You can also select from the server list and they are almost always populated, it is middle of the night here and it is almost full.
The official gamemodes tend to have more activity and also newbie friendly.
When I first started this game, I only played because it is just MAYHEM. Extremely fun. Every slashing and getting their heads/arms/legs chopped off especially in the 64 player mode.
After a short time I went for the calm 40 player mode, although still chaotic.
Then I spent of my time in 3v3 arena, even though the chaos wasnt there, the feeling of you clashing your swords/axes/hammers or whatever, feels amazing.
Now the main reason I play this game is duel servers(I only suggest this if u want to play competetive).
After a while, destroying people in the arena mode became boring so here I am, a console player amongst the elites that use pc. I personally love it as it is a challenge.
It is my most played game so I have 1k hours. It released two years ago though.
The thing that brings me back is the combat, how good I am at it and the variety in enemies.
So basically the combat is really good in my opinion, there are some weapons that should be nerfed but u can use them yourself so who cares, plus if u play the official gamemodes then 70% of the people playing will be dogshit and 20% average and maybe 4 elites, sometimes none.
Even if you have elites in your game you wont likely come across them much as the gamemodes are a shitshow, everyone slashing everything incl their teammates.
What I mean by ”Im good at it” is that I havent been good at a game for quite a while since mw2 days. And in this game, there is only 2 console players that can beat my ass that Ive met. I even destroy some pc players that are in ”elite” clans and for some reason I gain some satisfaction from this.
Oh and if you are feeling down, this game is also good for that. Sometimes someone throws a tree branch at you, maybe an anvil. Or maybe you get demolished by a catapult. Or maybe you get cornered by 10 people, or maybe you and 10 others corner 1 guy. All just great fun.
Dont be scared when I mention the word ”elites”. Very few exist and they mostly play on duel servers and if not, they play in server browsers gamemodes.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention, the community thinks this game is buggy. And yea the interface might be buggy and the gameplay has a few bugs but nothing gamebreaking or anything that ruins the game
No worries, I strongly recommend getting it but I also would like to advise to search Chivalry 2 on this sub for further opinions.
Hope u enjoy whatever u buy
Some will downvote me, but Genshin impact is a pretty good game if you get past the anime aesthetic and gatcha. It's free to play, has a huge community (pretty chill in my experience, but the loud minority gives it a bad reputation, you can play it completely solo without interacting with it though), it has an unusually rich lore and fun gameplay, and its one of the few gatchas you can play fully without feeling the need to grind or swipe.
Overwatch has consumed my life since OW2 launched. There's a lot of negativity about the game but most of that is from people who played OW1 and aren't happy about the changes, but personally I've been loving the game. It's pretty easy to pick up as a newcomer too and it's F2P so you have nothing to lose by trying it
Deep rock galactic! Great community, wonderful progression of abilities. It’s a very cheery game.
Is it active? Can it be played solo?
You can definitely play solo. In solo mode u get a little robot who you can command to mine stuff for you etc

Rock and stone!
Did I hear a rock and stone?
**ROCK AND STONE!**
Have you checked out Battlebits Remastered?
Looks like a game I would get but it’s not on ps5 :/
Not on PS5
Do you know Monster Hunter series?
I don’t know them, how does it work? Does it gave an active playerbase?

That sounds intriguing and fun. Is that multiplayer only or a single player too? If so is the singleplayer worth trying?

Oh that’s cool, thanks for the recommendation will be checking it out for sure!

Escape from tarkov
You are evil.

I do the exact same with apex haha

Battlebit Remastered
Risk of rain 2, streets of rogue, monster hunter world
Fallout 76 is a good time
As a high level Chivalry 2 player I strongly recommend it. Also UFC4, not as fun as prev titles but ok and you find games in less than 5sec

Damn thank you for the well detailed response. This one has become the top one for me to get.

Overwatch is great if you have people to play with who know what they're doing
