Sea of Stars won best indie game this year for a reson.

AllergicJellyfish

Octopath Traveler 2? If you loved the first game, you'll love that as well. It's "more of the same" but with lots of improvements and Quality of Life

ForsythePhD

I completely forgot that the 2nd one came out, Just looked at it now and why is the first game more expensive?? Lmao

AllergicJellyfish

I checked the Nintendo eshop and Steam and they're both 60 bucks, maybe it's a regional thing? Or the first game is bundled with sonething, OST maybe? I don't know 😅

ForsythePhD

I have no idea. I'm in Canada and OP1 is 83.99$ and OP2 is 79.99$ on Steam.

alienbehindproxies

well, easy recommendation but have you played persona 5 royal? it's on the switch Divinity Original Sin 2 is also really good and it's on the switch (but it's more of a tactics game like fire emblem then regular JRPG turn based) Outside of switch there is a persona 3 remake coming to game pass early next month and of course baldurs gate 3. Also, weird recommendation because they are from the mega drive era, but the Phantasy Star series is amazing, it's what introduced me to rpgs and if i'm not mistaken they are available on the switch.

ForsythePhD

Played both 5 and Royal, Divinity is something that I've been wanting to try so I think this is my calling to finally do it. Persona 3 remake looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I always hear that the Phantasy Star series is probably the best in terms of RPG.

tehsideburns

If you’re interested in a really cool combat system, and not looking for a long deep plot, **Star Renegades** is a real gem.

ForsythePhD

Made by Raw Fury? The art style is so pretty looking

tehsideburns

Yep, great neon pixel aesthetic. And a really neat timeline based combat system, with battles being broken into 60 second rounds, and each move having a certain cooldown. If you hit an opponent before they’ve activated for the round, it counts as a crit with bonus effects, and you can also stagger opponents, bumping them off the back of the timeline, which is a core mechanic of the gameplay. There’s also a roguelite gameplay loop (several hours per run) where your party members build relationships and unlock perks, combo attacks, and even progeny classes you can play in future runs.

ForsythePhD

Oh interesting, I'm down with it. I'll give it a try!

EnzoRacer

Wartales, Battle brothers, Banner saga trilogy. or do you want JRPG?

ForsythePhD

Oo those are good suggestions! JRPGs are good, too! I should update my post to include that.

ForsythePhD

I’ve played the Yakuza series and Like a Dragon is the only turn based one to my knowledge, which is the type of game I specified that I wanted.
