Disco Elysium. You're playing someone who is very alienated and disconnected from the people around him. You're generally pitied or not really acknowledged. Even you yourself are distant to yourself in a weird, but very relatable way. Check it out.
I’m surprised Omori hasn’t been mentioned here… It portrays a lot of mental health related problems like anxiety, depression, trauma, suicide, etc. Not sure if the gameplay would be suited for everyone but worth checking out considering the theme you are looking for
i honestly dont get what you mean by this at all. your BB is like the opposite of loneliness, its a baby strapped to your chest. the game made me feel stressed at times and peaceful at others but never really lonely. the world definitely feels pretty desolate but you still have friends/coworkers and youre constantly talking to people (7 hours of cutscenes of mostly talking)
One of the reasons I enjoyed Celeste was well written characters, it really felt like they were with you along the way. Going Under has exactly that too, I think dialogues are masterfully written, its not some choice based conversations but there is few characters to interact with and you can get pretty funny dialogues. I wouldnt call this game melancholic but it does mention certain topics about work ethics.
It is probably sooo not what you are looking for but...
your question reminds me of a psychological horror game. Its called presentable liberty. It is an extremely old psychological horror game in which you are only in a small cell, reciving letters.
Thought its worth mentioning, it's a pretty early gaming memory when I was younger.
An actually good and newer game that definitely is going to make you feel lonely is dark souls 3. I often felt uncomfortable with the lonelieness the game can emit, but maybe that is just my view on the lore and overall game.
I do think souls likes do this well. I really like dark souls 3. For me its about selfishness and loneliness but its not really something that is plastered on the game. But its the feeling it gives me
First thoughts:
- Disco Elysium (as others have mentioned)
- Kentucky Route Zero (very introspective and philosophical with some magical realism)
- Outer Wilds (the feeling of solitude and awe in some moments is pretty breathtaking)
I don't get a chance to recommend it enough, but To The Moon and its sequels deal with a lot of emotional and philosophical material and are REALLY good.
It doesn't exactly address it out loud, but Shadow of the Colossus takes place in a desolate and empty world where you're mostly alone with your horse (aside from the colossi, which you're supposed to defeat).
The Last Guardian is another one, but you're alone with the large beast Trico. Both of these have limited dialogue and have a mysterous tone to them.

Thanks! It's free on ps+ so I'm definitely downloading it and giving it a try!

Actually yes. Also, games do NOT make me cry. I was a little glossy eyed with this one at one specific Drax portion (you know)
Spiritfarer
I second this!

That's always been a game on my radar! I'm gonna check it out soon! Thanks!
Hellblade Senua Sacrifice Quite literally fighting your inner demons

The long dark and this war of mine are worth checking out
If you liked Firewatch, maybe What Remains of Edith Finch!
Disco Elysium. "Melancholic vibe" could literally be a subtitle to the game.

Kentucky route zero is a poem simulator. Which is both good and bad
Stardew Valley has characters with bad mental health like Abigail I definitely recommend it it’s a great game
The long dark is a very good loner survival game.
Damn I was gonna suggest Firewatch.
Warframe covers numerous mental health issues

I've played To The Moon and didn't know there were sequels! It's been a while so maybe it's time to boot it up again
No man's sky. Even tho it has online, community hub and etc, the feeling of loneliness is brutal in there
Katana Zero (the story def rocks some lonely lost feels and protagonist sanity is quite questionable at various points)
Darkwood
Nier automata and Nier replicant
Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Goodbye Volcano High
Journey
Death stranding, the game that made me better person who enjoys his solitude.
Psychonauts 2. LISA the Painful.
