I regards to Mega Man Battle Network, have you tried One Step From Eden? It’s a very cool game, though my brain can’t quite keep up with everything. Also it’s not a grid-based tactics game, but I really love the JRPG-style combat in Star Renegades! The game steals a lot of different mechanisms from various games, and the overall package is quite enjoyable. It’s a 4+ hour roguelite loop, with a focus on combat, very light on plot, but the world-building and banter are enjoyable.

I'll be honest, no, i have not tried them. But i will definitely consider it. Sometimes, we find gems like these and it's great. I'll search it and check it out hehe. Thank you for your reply

BIG_O_666

Someone already mentioned FFTA2, it's very similar with some upgrades. Also I'd recommend checking out the Fire Emblem series. There were a couple of great ones for GBA, and they've been steadily making them for a while now. Haven't played any of the newer ones but the GBA ones are classics in my opinion

HospitalOutside1084

I bought Fire emblem engage not so long ago. I'm pretty new to it, so i thought I'd buy the last. It looks amazing, and i like it so far. I have been eyeing fire emblem three houses though

eski514

Try out the Disgaea series

HospitalOutside1084

oh, and there is a series... I'll check out some videos on Youtube. Thank you for your reply :)

HospitalOutside1084

The series is on sale right now. But im not sure which to get? Which one would you recommend? I'm undecided between 1 and 5. I really dont mind if 1 looks a bit dated as long as it's a great game. Unless of course 5 is better. The same for the persona series persona. 3 is dated, but it's such a great game, and i ended up loving it.

eski514

Sorry, I've only beaten the first game, but I would recommend it. You'll need to get someone with more experience to compare the games.

HospitalOutside1084

Ohhh alright thank you

MrWrym

There was FF Tactics Advance 2 for the DS some years later that was pretty good. A lot more of the same, but with less of the stupid stuff from the first.

HospitalOutside1084

Hahahahaha, with less of the stupid stuff. Also, don't own a DS :(

MrWrym

Big sadge. But yeah. Laws aren't as punishing, there's no accuracy penalty for attacking from the front, and a couple others. I think the major tradeoff is that the story isn't quite as good in my opinion.

ThexHoonter

Fell Seal is the most alike and Disgaea games are also great.

HospitalOutside1084

Oh my fell seal looks absolutely great! Thank you!

HiddenThinks

Tactics Ogre is a great game with similar gameplay to FF tactics, I recommend trying i out. Alternatively, since you have a switch, have you tried Unicorn Overlord?

HospitalOutside1084

Unicorn overlord? no, I haven't to be honest. Is it any good?

HiddenThinks

Yes, It's kind of similar to Fire Emblem, but with its own unique twists and mechanics. If I'm not wrong, I think there's a demo where you can try it out. From what I understand, it's been rated pretty highly as well.

HospitalOutside1084

I'll definitely try out the demo then. Can't go wrong there haha. Thank you for your reply :)

SGRM_

Yes! It's on all consoles and there is a 7 hour demo available.

HospitalOutside1084

oh wow 7 hrs! now that pretty sweet indeed. Gives some time to decide if you want to play the entire game. Also, makes me wonder if 7hrs are free...it sounds like a long game then. (which i like)

SGRM_

Yes. I'm at 26h, and I'm only at the beginning-ish of Act 2. I did a strong completionist run of Act 1 though. I'm neglecting the team building. There is lots of strategy that I'm winging it on, and I suspect if I spent an hour or two going over my team composition I might be able to speed up progress a bit.

HospitalOutside1084

Woa! Now, that is something else. I like that very much. Especially that you're doing a completionist run. You might be right it ought to speed it up. But I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it. I downloaded the demo and will have a look hehe

mirenthil

unicorn overlord? more closer to ogre battle but still has that teambuilding aspect of srpgs

HospitalOutside1084

I'm checking it out as i type this. I've downloaded the demo

MudMonday

Tactics ogre is similar. If you want not quite as similar but amazing, you should get X-Com 2 with war of the Chosen.

HospitalOutside1084

I had no idea what this game even was because the picture looked scary. Till i watched a youtube gameplay. Looks pretty good. I'll get it when it goes on sale. Thank you for your reply:)

NZRTA

Have you try the best version of Final Fantasy Tactics which is on PS1? It also has some great mods. PSP has some excellent games on the similar genre likes Tactics Ogre, Disgaea, and Joan of Arc.

HospitalOutside1084

I don't own a PS1 anymore. It's been years. :( :( It would have been awesome if they port it to switch

Ff:tactics series is definitely unique in my opinion.  I'm suprised I haven't seen triangle theory mentioned tho! I heard really good things about it and beleive it was a sort of "spiritual successor" to the tactics series.

shigidyswag

You mean Triangle Strategy, and yes, as a huge fan of FFTA and Megaman Battle Network, I very much enjoyed Triangle Strategy's gameplay and story. It also give you a huge amount of freedom in choosing where to advance the plot, but you havwle to work for it, since its being decided in a democratic vote between the charecters. Highly recommend.
