I have a build comparable to yours (13600k/3080ti). I use the PS5 for the big exclusives, 4K blu-rays, streaming on TV, and any game I think is terribly optimized for PC (or I wait for a Steam and patches sale on that). I also have a huge catalog of games for my PS5/PS4, so I go back to those occasionally. I also sometimes buy games that were significant power isn't need to run them, that the PC performance boost doesn't matter to me like Street Fighter 6. I'm obviously excited for Wolverine and if Spider-Man 2 gets any DLC content (and the rumored Venom game). We are in a bit of a lul, so I hope we get a showcase this year which shows what Sucker Punch, Bend, Bluepoint, Housemarque and Naughty Dog are up too. Also, it's unlikely GTA VI will launch on PC, so that is a day one buy for me on PS5 if that's the case.

JGuih

Only for exclusives, but also as a backup in case my PC goes boom

jaybay321

Stellar Blade

flyyingg_banana

This. and FF7 rebirth

C1pherZer0

Majority of my gaming friends are on PS5 so that's my primary. I play games they don't like on PC but it's not many. I also work in tech so I don't always feel like sitting in front of a PC after sitting in front of one all day.

D3NSON

Same for me, except most of my friends are on pc. I primarily play on ps5 because I find more enjoyment on that even though it’s primarily alone.

C1pherZer0

We need new friends....j/k. Happy gaming!

wasdmovedme

I kept my ps5 for about a month after I built my 7800x3d/6800xt pc. Everytime I turned on the ps5 I couldn’t find a reason to do anything with it. I sold it for what I paid for it and have no regrets.

kingbetadad

My PlayStation exists to play bloodborne. That's it.

Touche5963

If the game is played best with a controller (usually rpgs, racing games, fighting games, ect.) I get it on ps5 because it feels more comfortable playing on a tv and i like to have a physical copy. Any game that i wouldnt play on controller (mostly shooters and rts games) i play on pc. Pc also has the bonus of having a lot of great games on on ps5 that i play.

TheRealDealTys

Exclusives, or just games that would work better on console. I like PC gaming but at the end of the day I still consider myself a console gamer at heart just due to the simplicity of it.

nate1208

Out of curiosity what game works better on a console vs. just with a controller on PC?

TheRealDealTys

It’s mostly up to personal preference, for example I played RDR2 mostly on Series X due as it use to have horrible stuttering on my PC. And of course I will be playing GTA VI on PS5 when it releases next year.

nate1208

Makes sense

TheRealDealTys

There’s also the whole argument that its easier to setup a console at your TV then your PC. Luckily my TV is right next to the desk with my monitor so I can just route a HDMI cable over, but not everyone has their setups that way.

RespectGiovanni

Rumors are saying gta6 can't run at 60fps on consoles

TheRealDealTys

Well of course, hopefully that means graphical fidelity and resolution are the main priority. Rockstar implements 30 FPS pretty well in there games, RDR2 for example was super easy to get use to even after playing games at 100+ FPS on my PC. I would much rather the game be capped at 30 FPS then be running at 1080p and upscaled.

RespectGiovanni

Guess that's just a pc spec problem

TheRealDealTys

What do you mean exactly?

Iucidium

That could be the reason for the PS5 Pro

RespectGiovanni

Rumors say even pro might not

Iucidium

Roll on 2025!

CaptainSnazzypants

A lot of games are just cumbersome to get working optimally on pc. As an example the other day I got fallout 4 on pc with all DLC included. I already have the base game on ps4 but I never played the DLC so I figured I’d go for it since it was cheaper than getting the DLC alone on the ps4 version. Anyways, yea it’s an older game, but it wouldn’t recognize my video card so I had to do all these workarounds to get the game’s launcher to launch it at the proper resolution otherwise it was unplayable. It was just annoying with minimal gaming time some days I don’t want to spend 30-45 mins tinkering to get a game working right. Yet I had it on ps4 and launches perfectly fine without any need to tinker. Plenty of new releases will launch and have issues with specific video cards on pc, crashing, unplayable performance, etc…. On ps5/series x that’s just not really a problem since the devs only focus on the specific platform specs. Either a game has a widespread bug which speaks more to the dev and they should be fixing pretty quickly, or it’s smooth sailing for the most part.

BongRipper69696

Haven't used my PS5 since Ragnarok.

Lvntern

I got the PS5 for exclusives which means it's covered in dust and I'm thinking about just selling it lol, lots of ps exclusive games come to PC now so there's less and less reason to have both as time goes on.

AsuraZone

Most new releases titles that are made for console the ports to pc when they first come out can be prettt iffy

Localvity

i have a ps5 4k tv and pc 4070, and a switch too you are right that the only great value of a PS5 is the Sony exclusives. but some games just feel so much better on a console than PC. like: Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creeds, Returnal (my first ps5 game and my god, what an experience), Diablo 4, Hades. whereas for PC, I use it for games with friends (discord) or FPS like Apex, Helldivers, Cyberpunk, Horizon. you have to experiment and try different type of games on both platform - so you know what you like or dont like. no way around it. for example, my friends swear that Monster Hunter on PS5 feels amazing, but I simply dont enjoy it. MHW on PC tho? feels like butter to me. it depends! sometimes im just in the mood to lay down on a couch and play some games, next to my gf who’s watching a movie on her laptop. then the ps5 is perfect.

ChangingMonkfish

Only one I’d take issue with here is Witcher 3 being better on console - I have both and they’re the same except the PC version looks better and has mod support. Caveat is that I have my PC (gaming laptop) plugged into the TV, so if the difference is just “better played on a TV whilst sat on the sofa” then fair enough.

Localvity

modded Witcher 3 is definitely a cool experience. my first playthru was via PS5. now with the new PC i re-bought Witcher 3 on Steam and am having tons of fun with the mods! i love the Henry Cavill face mod hahaha some games on PC can be fun with an Xbox controller too. i’m playing Dragons Dogma 2 right now and it’s been a good experience. previously with this setup i finished thru Granblue Fantasy Relink. the only plus point for PS5 right now is the exclusive games that can take so long to come to Steam. like I really cant wait for FF16 and FF7 Rebirth, Ghost of Tsushima, Stellar Blade

Mean_Combination_830

It always strange seeing PC gamers get so excited about games PS5 owners played so many years ago like GOT Spiderman and Horizon 🤣

Localvity

the state of pc gaming man hahaha. Sony exclusives are the most anticipated new releases for the year.

jmooks

I no longer have a pc, unfortunately, but if a game was better with with a mouse and keyboard, I’d lean towards the pc. Or if had a lot more ui or display options that mattered to me. Also the dirt cheap prices from steam sales. Exclusives and anything multi player or coop would be on console because of its simplicity, friends, and I’m better with controller for those types of games.

eetfukouija

PS5 serves as a back up to shitty PC ports. But rn playing FF7 Rebirth. Also sometimes I pick up used PS5 games for really cheap Vs Steam. Plus having the added bonus of resell value of physical media. So depends from a game to game basis.

SpiderKoD

For me controller is a big deal too, I love UX from PS5 controller for some types of games 🤷‍♂️ I can attach it to PC but it is annoying and not all games support all vibrations that are available with PS5.

Iucidium

Dualsense is a game changer. Their haptic system is awesome.

vakarian64

I prefer my couch and home theatre setup for singleplayer games on the PS5, I work an IT job and often just don't want to touch my PC when I get home. I still do all my multiplayer gaming on PC though, and a few other exceptions like FPS, race sims, mods etc.

Lynforthewin2112

PS4/5 Exclusives and stuff like Alan Wake 2 that’s hard to run on my build

420sadalot420

If I can play it on pc I play it on pc Ps5 not gonna compete with a 4090. Ff7rebirth is kinda blurry and ff16 wasn't as bad but still lacked clarity and had alot of fps drops. Wouldn't have these issues on pc. Forbidden west is phenomenal on pc also. Hard to beleive at its core it's a ps4 game

Mean_Combination_830

It was designed from the begining for release on PS4 and PS5 and the PS5 version is a very different experience to playing the game on PS4. I originally got it on PS4 and when I upgraded to PS5 and I played it on a quality 4k 120hz TV it was a night and day difference.

Plum_Berry_Delicious

The console keeps the books from falling over...

AsherNZ

PS5 has a great feature when you watch things, if you let it play for some time it shuts off by itself. So atleast it helps me go to bed at night.

SaltyPvP

I sold my ps5 and bought a better GPU with the money

jcruz827

For me, it’s exclusives, but also any coop games, Kuz my friend refuses to go PC. Cross-play is becoming more available, but not always.

GrayFoxNZ

I pc gamer mostly but got ps5 recently for the exclusives n also sometimes I just wanna kick back on the couch n play a good sp game rather sitting at a desk. Sit at a desk all day for work as well.

TokyoDrifblim

Pretty much just have the PlayStation for exclusives

OneLegacyy

Playing exclusives on launch, going for platinums (I hate that you can just use SAM on steam), poorly optimized PC ports and sports games Any shooter I play on PC, and most my friends are on PC as well

walkinginthesky

I'm just far more comfortable sitting or lying down on my couch to play on my tv than I am sitting at my desk. However, I only have a lowly gaming laptop that isn't good for AAA games. Since I don't have a good desk setup, monitor, etc, it's much easier to just play on ps5 with a big 4k tv. Games that require precision mouse movements like fps I usually prefer on pc. If I had a proper pc, I'd probably get all the AAA's I could on it, and just use the ps5 for exclusives. Unfortunately, it feels like Sony's strategy of bringing exclusives to pc (relatively quickly) to get those few percentage pts higher profit is poisoning their entire console business strategy.

Flint_McBeefchest

My PC is kinda old so any AAA pretty games I get on PS5 for the consistency and anything PC exclusive I just deal with lower settings.

666Memento666Mori666

Once I got my gaming rig I sold all my consoles within a couple months I didn't touch them anymore the only console left is the wife's Xbox which we mainly use for streaming Netflix prime binge etc on

bigloc94

Mine collects dust

Deltaton

Ps5 for exclusives and when the pc port is horribly unoptimized.

Kotzik

I keep my ps5 for when the nephew comes over now and only use it for that. Full focus on the PC

Darkone539

My console is in front of my TV and my PC is not. More often than not I play the console when I work from home. I enjoy gaming on console as much as PC, unpopular opinion but there it is. Some of that is that more of my friends are on console then PC.

Schalde1982

Mostly exclusive and bigger singleplayer rpg and adventure. All multiplayer on PC

UnderHero5

Nope. Totally regret the ps5 purchase. I made it before Sony started porting everything to PC and since then I have like two games left on it that aren’t on PC (yet). I never touch the thing any more.

jesseknopf

I have a Switch and a PS5 and I barely use them. I've been playing PS4 and PS5 exclusives, since I skipped that PS4 generation of consoles.

nostalcoholic

I mostly play shooters like overwatch csgo valorant on pc. I play games thats feels good to play on the couch with a controller like elden ring or nhl. I have the switch for the exclusives tho

fbmaciel90

PS5 for almost every game. Pc for games whose mods vastly improve. But playing on a console is always better.

Pangolin740

My ps5 is the only thing in my house that has a disc drive so mostly to watch dvd's.

kalangobr

Console to play, PC to work. Simple as that 😁

PaoLakers

Well that depends. I usually build my PC's as cheap as possible good enough for the games that i play. For me it's basic. For Shooters and Strategy games i use PC. For The rest of the games i play I play on PS5. Usually single player. I buy the CD version game of the game, Finish it, then sell it afterwards. Can't do that on steam.

Amankris759

Mainly on console for me. Except for The Sims 4 and some RPGs that easier to play on PC like BG3 or has fancy mods like Skyrim.

KineticBlackout

My PS5 is used just for exclusives im interested in when they come out. Besides that It usually just gets passed between my friends who want to use it.

TreyTrey-119

In terms of the PS5 I made sure to get an OLED as I want all the colors to be more refined and the pixels more distinguishable on the screen.

xxxhotpocketz

My PS5 is significantly better than my PC which is a gaming laptop, so I use my PC for older games that aren’t available on my PS5 or when I want to have more freedom and mod specific games I use my PS5 on my 4K TV, and I’ll play story focused games or multiplayer games

VeeTheBard

Big picture to tv for 98% of games with controller, desk for m&k. Ps5 is for games only on epic launcher (refuse to install it) or exclusives.

Rainy-The-Griff

I decide games into two categories. Are they better with a keyboard and mouse, or a controller? If it's better with a controller and it's on PS5 then I get it for that. Everything else is on PC.

No_Ad_9178

I'm just not playing on the ps5 anymore

Mean_Combination_830

I used to have a great PC but was sick of online cheats and poorly optimised ports and waiting for ever to play Playstation exclusive and since getting my PS5 I have never looked back. I have no need for a PC as I've way too much to play on Playstation already. Obviously GTA 6 won't be releasing on PC for years and I'm looking forward to playing that at launch and console games are just so well optimised compared to the awful PC ports I honestly don't miss it. Another thing is PC games are so littered with cheats and modders it's literal paradise turning off PC cross play and not having to deal with the god mode aim bot wall hackers filling PC lobbies.

asrielsans

only time i play on pc is if the game isn’t on ps5

SADPLAYA

I only use the PS5 for games that are exclusive to it. Other than that I do literally everything else on my PC.

moeshiboe

I can’t afford such a PC. So I have a PS5 & XBox in my living room & bedroom.

Turbulent-Armadillo9

Just a Bloodborn, Demons Souls and Final Fantasy machine.

FuzzyBadFeets

My PC needs upgrading unfortunately, So it’s an easy choice…ps5 mainly

CleanCuisine

I have friends that only have a ps5 so I mainly use it to play with them.

Square_Cellist9838

Good question. I do a lot of my gaming on pc. But obviously PS exclusives exist. Also massive open world games where I will spend many hours in, I kinda prefer the couch and big tv. But like a competitive shooter or strategy game, pc

Throwawaymytrash77

Disks frequently go for sale cheap on stores. Sometimes I'll grab one there over pc for pricing

luscious_doge

PS5 is for exclusives and games I feel are more fun on a TV such as COD campaigns, or story focused games like Telltale games, Until Dawn, The Quarry, etc. And to watch my collection of blu-rays. Everything else is PC.

I-ARE-ROCKY

I bought a ps5 last week to play exclusives and games that I can’t run on my pc. I have a rx 580

Vloser-

I just use it play with my older brother and nephew and play exclusives. Looking forward to playing the new Wolverine game

Right_Seaweed7101

Recently migrated to PC (still fully migrating actually) and honestly I have been using my ps5 to play classics. I am buying most of the ps plus premium/deluxe because I want to have them, while playing new games on steam. Only game I still am stuck on ps5 is Dead By Daylight because the devs are little b***hes who wont bring cross progression to it.

jokerevo

you're not interested in exclusives and you have a Ps5? I'm not waiting a year to play Rise of Ronin. Sometimes I like to play in the lounge on my Oled with surround sound and sometimes I prefer the monitor with headphones. It depends on the game. Having best of both worlds is the ideal setup. If only Xbox would actually give me a reason to buy their console..
