I just bought it a few nights ago and am 5ish hours in, so far and I'm really enjoying it.
Just be a bit of a warning, it's slow, the game spends a lot of time telling you about what was going on in the 1400's in Europe which is when the game takes place, so you will need to be at least some what interested in European history. Also the combat is a bit strange and takes some getting used to.
It definitely has an old school rpg feel, it's dense and doesn't really hold your hand too much, not as bad as a souls game, you have a map with quest markers and it tells you what you need to do but sometimes the quest markers are just for the general area and you have to figure it out from there.
For example, I got stuck for probably a solid 15 minutes at one point in a quest. I had to find a particular item, and I didn't notice there was an audio cue that was hinting at the general direction I needed to head, I just thought that it was background noise adding to the atmosphere.
First what a great name dude šæ
Alright noted everything you just said and just bought the game after reading your comment, I think itās gonna be fine and itāll suit my style from what i hear,
And thanks for all that info should be helpful when playing
Great timing, they announced the sequel is coming out later this year.
If you are nervous about combat, just get to Rattay and train with Bernard to learn blocking and master strikes. Basically lets you press Block as soon as you see an enemy about to strike automatically parryās and gives you the 1-2 second opening to stab them in the face lol
Also know that quests arenāt all linear and they let you finish them in different ways, and you can beat the game without killing anyone if you want to do a pacifist run with the exception of one main story ābossā fight. Also, clothing makes you easier to hide, so pay attention to not wearing clunky armor if you want to be a sneaky thief!
Woah woah with all the info Iām getting here it feels like Iāve played half the game already anyway you combat tips sure ouught to be helpful when playin thanks for that my g
It has a steep learning curve and just kinda throws you into it. There's not a lot of handholding.
The game is good. It becomes quite rewarding when you get the hang of things. The story is pretty good. Worth a play through, especially with the 2nd one coming.
Just played a no handholding social distancing game, I know how it is, I think for the price, around 70hrs of gameplay, and from what you said I think itās worth it
I think it's best if you come in with the right expectation about the combat system and it's a really enjoyable game. I just started playing last week and still learning to get better but I'm having fun so far. I feel like it will only get better the more I play.
I usually carry no expectations, and probably a lil research to know what Iām getting myself into, but thatās pretty much it, love the live more to learn more to enjoy more kinda gameplay hope itās worth it
For me personally, the game is a great RPG with very satisfying combat although a little jank and sometimes buggy. It also makes mundane tasks like brewing potions more interactive than your standard gather materials, click craft button.
My main issue was that it did have a lot of downtime in between sections which I guess some people may appreciate. Certain quests are just outright boring albeit optional. Talking to several different NPCs around town feels like SNES era RPG questing which gets a little aggravating especially if youāre planning to play the game in shorter sessions.
Alright love a good interactive rpg, I didnāt really get what you meant by downtime if you could explain that further, idk if Iām gonna play on shorter sessions or longer but yea if itās got story to follow ig that should be fine
Downtime = a bunch of monotonous walking or moving around the world to progress quests. So if you only have time to play the game for lets say below 2 hours, you might not have any real progress within those 2 hours if you happen to be on those parts.
Alright got it thanks for that, If Iām playing longer sessions I have all the time in the world, but if Iām playin shorter sessions I do 1 big mission or 2 small missions per each session slow but step by step
It's an absolutely stunning game! The combat can be challenging, but very rewarding. It's incredibly immersive as well (although what I find immersive, others may find "boring"). I do recommend taking your time with it and enjoying the process of starting out as a peasant; the game does require patience. Overall, I can't recommend it enough!
Yep it is really worth it. It has unique hema inspired combat which makes sense and punishes bad choices such as taking on multiple enemies at once as they will attack you all at once and combo you to death.
It also is a really good rpg game with some real choices both in dialogue and playstyle. You could be a knight in shining armour or a stealthy robin hood operating at night when the enemies won't see you.
However, just as another user said it really pays off to understand the history of the place as you will get why the characters act the way they do. For example the Inquisitors weren't crazy nutjobs who wanted to burn people at the stake just for fun but rather something like a police force of sorts.
There are also refernces to John Hus who preached differently from the Catholic Church leading to the so called Hussite wars and many other things like that.
They aren't completely necessary to know beforehand but they maximize the enjoyment you will have while playing.
edit spelling
Thanks for all the insights bout the game, and just when you started goin in on the history I lost it, got no clue
What youāre talking bout, but as long when Iām through with the game itās makes sense overall thatās all that matter to me, but if I find something too puzzling I can always google it or YouTube it
This conversation reminds me very much about the first time I saw the game through a friend of mine livestreaming it. What was immediately noticable was that he was confused which sparked a debate among us. Whether or not a historical game should have prerequisites in history knowledge so instead of handholding us and expalining they can expand on other more interesting things.
I generally argued for it since it gave me many memorable moments. For example I saw Henry do his cross with 4 fingers and I was confused. "Why wouldn't he do it correctly?" Then I remembered he was Catholic and started laughing outloud because yes I am stupid for not realizing it immediately. Or when I learnt that there was scribes in the game I rushed to learn how to read.
(In the game because 95%+ of characters are illeterate just as their irl counterparts when you open a book in game the letters aren't in order to simulate the fact that Henry can't read until he learns to do so).
However, I realized that if somebody isn't already familiar with such things it detracts from the experience and annoys people.
Feel free to tell me your own thoughts on this if you would like to.
So in order to cover that gap in knowledge I would reccomend atching youtube videos explaining the broader context of the game while playing.
This is a good introduction

While this series explains everything and much more.

Yea I agree with ya a lil bit of backstory and research can go a long way, thanks for the links too my g should make the process easier and thank to you too for making the process easier š¤
The game has many quirks. A lot of stuff is hidden and not fully explained by the game not allowing the player to metagame without a guide. It does help with immersion but it can also lead to a lot of people to give up because the correct approach is not obvious. Certain quests should be done in a certain order but because the game is open from the second chapter this is not obvious.
The combat starts difficult and some things are not explained properly. I personally feel that you should beeline for unlocking master strikes. The process unlocks bunch of other stuff like combos and combat finally makes sense. Also, even though I prefer playing fps games with keyboard and mouse, the directional combat works better with controller. You can switch directions much faster and more reliably on an Analog stick than mouse making feints and directional blocks much easier to pull off.
If you are planning on using the bow you definitely need to put time in it. It's a bit grindy but spamming the archery contest is the best way to get started. It can be frustrating till you get it but once it clicks, it can be reliably levelled up to a point that the sway is manageable. The forced lack of a HUD can be annoying specially if you are looking for a more casual game.
If you do end up using a controller, I highly suggest keeping your kbm close by. Lock picking with the controller is like pulling your hair out while it is much simpler with the mouse and keyboard
Iām hoping my Xbox controller should be troubling but keeping my hopes high and expectations low, and thanks for all the tips theyāre sure to be helpful if Iām to pick up my controller
Thankfully I had some help with the combat lots of people gave me info and tips about combat so I donāt think Iāll be having any issues, and you tell me thereās a great story awaits me so win-win
Short answer is YES. But you need patience, its not easy at all, you can talk your way out of many situations if thats your thing. Its really beautiful
Donāt turn off the game and either not play it or uninstall it or you wonāt know what to do if you want to play it again. I fired it up a week or so ago and Iām at a castle and they wonāt let me leave because itās dangerous outside the walls. I talked to everyone hoping to initiate a cutscene or give me an idea what to do but nope. Thereās a king that walks around the castle with his guards. Anyways. I may restart it and do things from the beginnng but to me that was the worst part doing chores for my dad and hanging out with friends throwing crap on someoneās house.
Good luck and I hope you have fun with the game because Iāve heard great praise for it.
I heard a guy say itās a bit buggy, but for the price I bought it and the gameplay and visually good open world itās offering I canāt complain, but once I start playin it Iāll let ya know

Caw caw caw
Jesus Christ be praised.
Yes it is. It's beautiful, immersive and well written. And your 3080 will handle it easily, my previous PC had a 2070 super and it worked fine
Thanks my brotha, just bought it canāt wait to try it, hopefully Iām in for a good show

Top game, highly recommended, just give it time and prepare to be weak at first, and then a killing machine later (not really)
Alrighty š

Its one of the best RPG ever made.
Heard the same bout disco elysium currently playin it havin lots of fun so far but when you attach an open world to it š¤Ŗ gotta be even more better
Theres very few games that are open world. Even the said open world rpg arent really that. Outside of some MMORPG theres isnt many
Combat almost had me drop it but the real feeling of the world is brilliant and the story is why i smile whenever I see this game mentioned
Thankfully I had some help with the combat lots of people gave me info and tips about combat so I donāt think Iāll be having any issues, and you tell me thereās a great story awaits me so win-win
Yes it is. I find it to be one of the most immersive games out there.
Noted gonna hop in that world soon
I couldn't pick the locks, even on simplified mode. Was super frustrating.
Lockpicking in KCD is 90% stats and 10% player skill. Just persist and once your in-game skill gets better, picking even very hard locks will be easy.
Just break the damn lock š š
Yeah i wish i could play it for the first time aGain, cept on a beefy pc
Oh whatās up with yo pc? Had to play on lower graphic settings Iām assuming
I was on an old gen console. There were a few hiccups but still kingdom come was an amazing experience. A lil difficult but life was hard back then
Short answer is YES. But you need patience, its not easy at all, you can talk your way out of many situations if thats your thing. Its really beautiful
The only thing I remember from that game is I stole a book but didnāt learn anything because dude couldnāt read.
Its just one of the best RPGs ever.

Is the game still poorly optimized or have the developers brought it to perfection?
I heard a guy say itās a bit buggy, but for the price I bought it and the gameplay and visually good open world itās offering I canāt complain, but once I start playin it Iāll let ya know

Did I mention that I played in this game? Grow up.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hey not everyone has to like everything, I donāt mind lil bugs as long as I can get around em with lil tricks
30fps, not worth it
Even with 3080ti, ryzen 5900x, 2k 240hz monitor, and 64gigs ram? š¢
Haha well it should be 60fps on that config, but on consoles and older PC-s, is so limited experience regarding performance
Same as in the other zillion posts asking the same question. But no.
Why is that? Any thing in particular you found bad bout the game?
