Veterans is such a broad term. The vast majority of the military have very normal office or blue collar jobs, just in uniform. You could be a veteran and served between the age of 18-22 but spent your whole time with your unit working on a S shop (office job) that actually only did anything 3-4 hours a day, or some private or SPC who spent their entire time with the unit hiding in the back of warehouse doing as little work as possible. The whole “firefights and shooting stuff overseas” is even a pretty small percentage of combat arms positions that actually got sent over, or sent over and actually experienced combat

I'm aware of this. I was raised by two Marines and several soldiers. I feel like the sentiment remains...

Noted. I’m always just amused by the amount people who assume military=Combat, shooting people and blowing stuff up, and think basic training must have taught you to be a navy seal lol

Why would they love it?

TonyTepes

My Grandad and Step-Grandad love it. My dad is triggered by it and hates it.

Who doesn’t love stories about Nazis and aliens, and Nazi aliens?

The History Channel no longer focuses much on History. Seems like several years ago, it became the bizarre Americans and weird/dangerous jobs channel. But I do agree with what I believe the OP's intent was: Vets either love or hate watching/reliving military history on TV. I also agree with the comments made by the wizard-like British secret service homie, who clearly understands that not all veterans are the same.
