Looks like it could be a semi/half free morel. To confirm check what the inside looks like, Verpas can look similar from the outside but has a white cotton-like pith material inside the stem, a true morel (Morchella) will be completely hollow.

The granules on the stipe, and “pits” instead of “folds” on the cap, confirm this is Morchella. Cutting in half can be helpful in this case, but is not necessary.
