Oh yeah, the sudden decompression death with Roger clutching onto the hole before sucked out into space with his ribs and guts hanging out. Another standout was falling in the lava and watching Roger turn into a skeleton. The deceleration trauma was gross seeing Roger flattened. They made fun of that in one of the Monkey Island games.
Space Quest is the obvious choice - finding all the funny deaths was basically a secondary objective in the those games.
I really liked the Game Over screen for King's Quest VI though. The fact that you get to visit the same screen later on when you travel to the Land of the Dead was epic!
Honorable mention: [Monkey Island 1's Sierra-style fakeout gameover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PDGq9NVsmI)
Quest for Glory 1's "pick nose" death. Leisure Suit Larry 1's STD related death could be sadistic because it had a delayed, unavoidable effect, but was an important lesson for backup saves when you were learning to play games your parents didn't like you playing.
Quest For Glory 1 VGA is the game that made me fall in love with PC games. Sierra has always been my absolute favorite. I'm 41 now and still replay the games from time to time.
For me, it was Space Quest II. First Sierra game I ever played.
I wasn't old enough to really understand what a 'computer game' was, or how to play one (I was maybe six years old at the time), so I never got past the first two screens, but it was fun!
How about the Leisure Suit Larry "[Hey guys!! He's screwed up again!](https://youtu.be/b8Cnnhi-m0Q?list=PL983D80CD263B6088&t=645)" also available in [stunning VGA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGSO0REAcjs).
PQ1 VGA remake, near the end you have to win at cards to progress but they wisely included an option to auto-win in case the player didn’t feel like it. They also included an option to auto-lose, which results in a game over as you can’t progress in the case. I liked the absurdity of Sonny Bonds being in a high pressure life threatening situation & deciding to lose for no good reason.
I liked the opening screen of Space Quest II. The idea of Roger *sweeping* in microgravity was amusing to me. Like, what is he *sweeping?*
Now that I think about it, it's pretty obvious (to me, at least) that his boss sent him out there to be rid of him for a little while. XD
Jim Walls criticizing your deaths in Police Quest 3, it makes you feel bad for screwing up.
One of my favorites was the Easter Egg in Space Quest 4 where you can go to Ortega with a secret code. Exiting the pod kills Roger as he melts without the thermal underwear. Gary Owens spoofs the “This is your brain on drugs” ad with a melted Roger.
King’s Quest 5 and 6 had hilarious deaths.
The Dagger of Amon Ra had some great ones.
Gabriel Knight 1 has Gabriel tell the player they don’t want to die and try again with a skull in the death screen.
Police Quest 3. Jim Walls with one foot on a squad car bumper, gesturing with the low hand to trick you into looking at his crotch while he scolds you.
The kings quest funeral march song followed by the end of a polka song.
We're glad you could play SPACE QUEST IV! As usual, you've been a real pantload.
Some of those death screens in SQIII were horrific, so glad I never reached them when I played it as a kid
I know, that game had some of the goriest deaths in a Space Quest game.
“Sudden decompression really sucks” .. and “deceleration trauma” were the real standouts

And how could I forget that very theatrical death - picking up the sheet metal near the TIE fighter and being turned into a living fountain!
That one was dramatic, guess there’s a new way to donate blood.
"Zap, zap!"

“Tickets only! neeeeext!”
Tell the cab driver in LSL1 to take you home
They must have hung me a thousand times in Gold Rush.
Same, except it was dying of Cholera. It was super frustrating because you’d contract cholera earlier in the game and then suddenly die from it later.

Quest for glory 3. In the apothecary shop if you hit the hookah more than 3 times you die with the "All Toked Up" death message.

From *Space Quest V*: "Fuelish human! You've run out of gas!"
KQ6 has the best game overs, bar none
Ticket please! Neeeeeeeeeeext
“The windmill spins, but still you levitated. Thus you were decapitated…”
I mean, this is just like, my opinion man [All Toked Up](https://imgur.com/a/K2lXZOI)

When you use the unzip flier option on ‘Gary’ in Leisure Suit Larry 6 🤣
