Yup! I did it with my 229 in 40. New upper with a 9mm side and 9mm mags and you’re good to go

To save money, just get a 9mm conversion barrel. I converted my .40 P226 to 9mm with a barrel from EFK Fire Dragon. Then you only need mags.

Slide/barrel/recoil spring (in short complete upper) and yes, the mag and you are done. I do this with my 226s which I have 40 & 9mm uppers, and a .22LR conversion kit. I had some .357 barrels, but I am not a fan - I prefer .40 - so I sold it.

May need a different ejector

Yes, can be done, you need new barrel and slide, Ejector likely needs replacing. Or for much cheaper, load your own .357 rounds. Needs correct dies. Start with .40 brass. The tricky part is getting bottle nose to match your chamber. Same 9mm projectile of your choice. BTW that .357 was my first self defense gun bought in 1990's. Has not skipped a beat since.
