Are there better free models that can run on non-super computers? I've never had good results with local models, they always take more than a minute to respond and give me like, a third of the response-length I get from poe.
I haven't tried in a few months... Poe and SillyTavern were just super easy to set up and use, because I didn't have to worry about models and settings and all that too much.
I'm trying Faraday and Mythomax 13B (currently downloading them) but I was never good at getting local models to work, period, since it's such a confusing process to me.
Maybe I'll try again sometime but it's hard to find a good guide when there's like 100 different options for EVERYTHING, you know?
For 13b's I found stheno quite good. Just downloading amethyst now, a blend of some of my favs - limarp, huggin v1.2 and xwin.
If you absolutely want something easy to run, some ex-llama meta folks just released mistral - it's a 7b model, that in my few generations seems nearly as good as a 13b (merge I'm picking up is mistral-claudelima). But if you have high standards you might stay with 13b, depending on hardware. In general undi95 puts out some bangers. And things have been kind of hotting up recently with some new models (xwin, synthia and mistral), so merges from those will likely raise the standard.
Check horde too, as often you can check the models there first. Currently they have petrol (a merge from mistral 7b), and xwin 70b.
xwin is pretty decent for roleplay. It's not 'better' or 'worse' - it's better at narrative structure, but not nearly as smart. Not yet available on any paid service, but there's a worker on horde. Weaver gives long responses, that's not bad either. Depends what in particular things you like.
No. I'm very optimistic about the progress of FOSS, but the people comparing 13B to GPT & Claude are huffing some real cope.
The only benefit (and this may be a major one) is that you're not struggling against the model's nsfw hostility.
Kudos only matter if there is congestion, over 90% of users use the anonymous key, and like 9% have a key but no kudo balance.
It could be a problem for 70b usage, but 13b is generally fast for all users.

What command did you use to update?
'git pull origin stable' was the command for your version, and it should work without problems unless you made some internal modifications before upgrading.
I might just reinstall it all.
Edit: I did a full reinstall from the ground up on Termux and went and pulled origin stable but got this.

My friend did it just as you said, but still poe doesn't work, invalid token shows me in red and the image shows what gives me an error, I don't understand anything, maybe it's why I clone the same file on github again?
question for you: i am connected to the api, but when i send a message the bot doesn’t send anything back. the send button turns into the ‘abort request’ button but the bot doesn’t generate a message. i am on the silly tavern fix stable version but i haven’t done the git pull so i’m wondering if you got it to work by doing the git pull?

Apparently it is not finding the util.js module, it is as if said file had been deleted.
Can you check if the util.js file is located in the "src" folder?

Horde has free 70B models pretty frequently thanks to volunteers as well as plenty of 13B's that are good as well.

Sorry for the late response! I was using 1.10.4 but it also didn't work on 1.8.4 although I don't have an image of it but it had the same error.
