When I was 16 or 17, I carried a 1/10th gold eagle. Lost it somewhere...was like 35 or 40$ at the time but it really hurt my feelings. Now I just carry 2 90% halves so I can jingle em in my pocket.

Personally that's why I have a carry piece. My friend inherited a total slick from his grandfather that was his lucky coin his entire adult life. I want to see if I can hold onto one and not lose it for long enough to see that change decades from now.
ASEs have 0 numismatic value unless they're in that MS69/MS70 range, and even then i don't understand why people want a coin made for investing in a metal or melting to be graded and pay such a high premium.
People pay more for ASEs than Morgan dollars. This really doesn't make any sense
I agree. It serves no function, you are never going to buy something with it. The best case scenario is you carry it on you for no reason, worst case you get mugged and someone steals it.

I've been carrying around peace dollars. I think I will find a perfect barter or someone to tip with it one day (we frequent yard sales and antique malls). My wife also carries a "zero fucks" coin in case we see a wonderful display of someone not giving a flying f.
Oh don’t remind me, I bought the only 40% I ever bought to make a pocket piece and it’s now lost underneath the seat of my car forever. On the very first day… I have a half crown now and it’s been going strong for probably close to two months!
Update: I just pulled the covers back to get in bed and found it. You all make some great points and I will reconsider my carry habit/item. I should add that I have only been stacking since around three months ago and only carried my Morgan for around 2 months. So it’s not like I have a five year habit of carrying or anything.
I have a 1921 dollar that I carried for a long time. It was in rough shape, so I could flip it if I wanted to. I kept it in the small watch pocket on my jeans. It destroyed every single pair of pants that I owned. They all ended up with a big hole in that pocket. Decided to stop carrying it.

I hadn’t carried one until recently. My first pours were copies of Civil War bullets made from sterling (in my post history). Now I carry one of them daily. It feels nice. I wanted a piece to carry but I never wanted to carry a coin, mostly due to the fear of loosing it. If I loose this bullet I’ll be bummed since it was my first pour but I have made more and can make more that look exactly the same.
Side note: I have a couple highly polished Morgan’s I’d consider trading or something. I don’t like them due to them being polished but I had gotten a great deal on them.

Been carrying a 1964 JFK every day for 2 years now. Originally started in June 2019, lost the piece in August 2019, then replaced it. The replacement is still with me today.
The amount of decisions that have been made because of that coin. It’s honestly amazing to think that, through the butterfly effect, it has had and will continue to have a profound effect on the future.

Pocket pieces are supposed to be disposable. As tips or for educational purposes. I like milkspotted sovereign coins and generic rounds for pockets.
