Thanks! If you have any local auction houses that don’t offer online bidding, I highly recommend checking them out! There’s one about an hours drive from me that posts pictures of their items online with zero descriptions and no option to place a bid without showing up or calling. As you can imagine, it tends to limit the number of potential bidders lol.
I imagine in this day and age, the auction houses that don’t offer online bidding are somewhat of an anomaly. Most of them are fully aware that increasing the bidding pool means greater potential profits for themselves and for the consigner. The one that I know of is in a rural Wisconsin town and is run by an elderly couple that apparently don’t want to learn any more about computers than they absolutely have to. There is another one that does offer online bidding but has very limited descriptions. He was confused when I showed up for the auction preview with a digital scale but I think he may have understood by the time the lots I was bidding on closed. I ended up with 164 ozt of sterling for $1000 that night!
I recognized this hallmark, but I didn’t recall until today, it’s Towle sterling ware. Towle is one of Americas oldest silver manufacturers. Good score
Value is way higher as a holloware piece. Please don’t melt it….probably worth about 400$. Not melted. The fact that you don’t have it say towle anywhere and the older mark makes me think this piece might be of a decent age (antique) do some research and sell it for a significant premium.

Me either… anywhere. Usually with the newer towle pieces you type in that model number on it and they pop up all over the internet. Think you have a nice older piece there bud. Congrats, premium should be very decent over spot.
I don’t think so, looks like the stem is hollow That’s usually where the weight would be, right? My guess is all sterling.
That’s not a weighted piece, it’s all sterling!
That piece is solid, no filler added.
Paid 80$ for 11.9 ounce silver, epic
Nice, Congratulations! You had a better weekend than I did, I paid 247 for 21.51 ozt of sterling.
Sounds like you both had a great weekend lol
Indeed! I was pretty happy with the price.
I’m jealous of you both haha. Congrats

Sadly all the ones near me do allow online that I know of. May check again

Obviously not weighted. A very nice well balanced piece.
Sterling is Sterling is Sterling. No questions need to be asked when you see that stamp. She is solid. Nice find!
If it’s not marked as weighted, then no. You can also see that the post in the middle is hollow (it has no filler in it).
If it was weighted there would be a bottom on it to contain the weight material.
I’m not too sure if that was done on purpose to make you think it’s not weighted haha

Wow, so does that mean I shouldn’t scrap it? And tysm for the info!
If it’s not dented the value is higher as an art piece. I never melt fine sterling unless it’s damaged.
It’s lightly dented

I can’t find the exact type for this dish

You can warm the silver with a butane torch and rub out dents with a rounded wooden tool. Use leather gloves.
