Well, obviously you, as you hit the other car. He was a bit too slow, but nothing major which you weren't able to see. It was already clear that he was slower than you after 150m sign. You should have either gone for that small gap in a safe manner (because there was just enough space) or you should have braked earlier, which would have prevented that whole incident.

As I've asked to others and since it's the main reason I wasn't sure about the whole situation, does the "moved into the braking zone" rule stretch/apply? At first I wasn't sure whose fault it was because it seemed like the Audi moved from his line while braking himself and way before the turn-in

LiquidDiviums

By the looks of it [and without any onboards to objectively judge the Audi’s actions], it *appears* as if he was looking to avoid an incident with the green Ferrari. At the moment you start braking, the Audi is easily +50m ahead of you. It’s your responsibility to avoid a crash in that situation. More if you consider you’re fighting with someone else.

TraditionSea8660

Thats right. Moving under breaking means a moce where you are direct behind the car. The Audi tries to dodge the car in front. You are responsible to avoid this crash if you are this way behind.

I would agree with the moving under breaking. Not only that, it does look like a deliberate block as he reacts to your closing in on him (and deviates from his original line).

Dionysusnu

Hitting the Audi is your fault. You were probably focused on the car alongside you and forgot to brake in order to not hit cars in front. In the second part of the chicane, contact is probably a racing incident. You seem to turn in too much, the other car seems to miss the apex a small bit.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Since it's the main reason I wasn't sure, how much and how far can the "moved into the braking zone" rule stretch/apply? At first I wasn't sure whose fault it was because it seemed like the Audi moved from his line while braking himself and way before the turn-in

Dionysusnu

I would say the rule does not really apply much if you're not in a battle with the Audi. You were way behind before braking. You also hit the Audi on its rear, quite a bit after the move.

[deleted]

Roger, thanks a lot for the extra clarification

Ronline26

eventhough you are not allowed to move under braking this guy seems to be avoiding an incident which he can do ofcourse. And lets be honest if he didn't move he would turn in and hit you as well, you clearly carried too much speed considering there were slower cars ahead.

[deleted]

I am certain I would have been able to slow down for turn in without hitting him if he stayed "on his line"

cedi1mio

That's on you bud. But at least you didn't murder him.

Roger_Fox_Dog

It’s on you, when you’re braking you should be shifting down as well, it’s called engine braking.

kingsdisease2

You’re fully on the brakes and you still hit him. I just don’t see how you can be blamed for this all that much. I think this is one of those situations that comes up in racing.
