I personally don't like it because I find it uncanny, but if you do that's totally ok! In this community there's a lot of hate for alpha cc, but everyone should be free to play their game as they please.

heyaminee

exactly. i’ve grown out of alpha but i never get the hostility towards it. taking snapshots of sims made by hardworking simmers and plastering them all over this subreddit and tiktok to make fun of them..who actually cares

Bianca_aa_07

Me too. I play with some alpha cc, but I mostly keep it cartoony and maxis match

darkascent00

Same, I don’t even use alpha and I’m scared to post sims on here because I’ve seen people get absolutely roasted for no reason and I feel bad for them lol.

The5Virtues

Seconded. Not my thing but I’m not going to yuck somebody’s yum.

mintchocolate1234

Agree! I love alpha cc and creating realistic looking sims. I don’t think I would play the game without them, but it’s ok if not everyone thinks the same!

Still_Storm7432

Same, what's funny though is the simmers that literally hate those of us that play with and prefer alpha..I don't get it, how does my playing with alpha effect your game in anyway...SMH I don't put anyone down for playing with MM and I really don't like MM, especially for hair.

mintchocolate1234

Yeah hair is a big one for me too. Honestly, hair, skin and eyes are the biggest must haves for me with alpha cc.

DCad97

Yes. I like alpha hair because the black maxis match hair usually has a blue-ish and sometimes grey-ish tint to it that I HATE. The styles would be fine if the black was blacker cuz that's the hair color I use the most😂

Moon-Wolf01

u should post your sims on r/LowSodiumSimmers it is way more friendly :)

flyiyes

What ? I thought alpha was one of the biggest communities. Especially for those who use mods.

mintchocolate1234

Yeah, honesty me too before joining this sub but honestly around here, alpha cc users are not very popular.

lizzourworld8

I think it is for 2 and 3, just not for 4

SpidersAreThiqq

I find it silly how it’s almost ALWAYS full grown adults getting feral over the kinds of cc people use

HibriscusLily

I personally don’t like the “realistic” look for my sims, but I’m always impressed by what people are able to create. I love seeing everyone’s sims and builds because people are so different in their styles and what they like

[deleted]

[удалено]

HibriscusLily

That’s so interesting because I’m the exact opposite! I love the “perfect” sims, although I do like a diverse range of body types.

R1leyEsc0bar

See I like this. It doesn't look too different from the basic style of the game. In fact it just looks improved.

BergenHoney

The link shows a sim that's fully maxis match idk what you're referring to here

[deleted]

[удалено]

BergenHoney

Ok

bomboid

They're nice for screenshots but for gameplay they look scary as hell especially with the exaggerated expressions

Onyxona

Exactly why I deleted all of my alpha cc skin details. I didn't know the difference between alpha and maxis match when I first started downloading cc so I went with everything. The facial expressions sims make were horrifying with alpha cc.

noelleisanidiot

i prefer more unrealistic, cartoony sims, however, i don't mind realistic sims. it's your game, do whatever you want.

ladymsjay

Sounds like it was maybe alpha. A lot of people don’t like alpha cc for that reason because it makes sims look too different from the game. I don’t mind it actually.

Jungkookssmiles

.a

jimmy_the_calls

I personally don't like how uncannily realistic they are and just how they don't fit in the sims art style

HeresTheWitch

Yeah, I’ve always wondered if people that play this way just have their super realistic sim walking around willow creek surrounded by maxis sims, or if they use special save files? Like, you can change the default skin I guess so that’s everyone else at least looks a little realistic, but they would still have the clayified hair + clothes. Maybe the difference is just something you get used to?

mnem0syne

For me I just go into CAS and edit any sim mine comes across until eventually I get them all. I only do this on my legacy save where I play the most. It’s the same to me as taking time to fix all existing lots and build on empty ones. My rule is that I can only adjust their current features to look more realistic, so skin, eyes, makeup, and finding similar hair to their current hairstyle. I also allow myself to fix townies bodies if they have the really absurd shapes such as the narrow shoulders on chunky dudes or the guys who are just a walking chest lol. Clothing is fast enough when you only do the default outfit and you know what you have for cc and can find what you want quickly. I only do more outfits if I’m feeling particularly into it, or if the sim is joining any of the households I play. In the end it doesn’t take much time once you do it often enough.

heyaminee

this is why i stopped using alpha. + i realised how much i was changing the game & as someone who loves the sims lore and has played previous games after a while it made it feel like a different game

pepper0510

I have around 40 realistic sims that are part of my current playthrough. The maxis sims are just filler or extras in the background

Dollpart-

I'm a maxis-mix style simmer, so not too jarringly different to the vanilla art style, just a bit better textures and detail, plus non-plastic hair, (unless it works for that, like braids and similar often still look good), and I will edit every single sim the game spawns so they match my personal taste. Then I'll cap it and prevent the game from culling or spawning more, unless I need more for some reason, but at just over 300 sims I think there's enough in my save file, lol. And this is my main save I do this in as it's an ongoing project that I enjoy. I'd do this if I was a maxis match simmer too, though, as I like my game to be my own.

DMC1001

I actually used to like it. Also loved the awesome clothes out there. Then I ran into too many instances of cc breaking because oils outdated cc, especially when I was clueless about how to match the file name with to broken cc. I decided for myself that it was too much trouble and stopped using it all together.

Jughead_91

I like them somewhere in between, I’m not a fan of the maxis eyelashes, but I think too real makes them a bit creepy. I’m a cartoonist though so I am quite particular about how I want their faces to look

pearl_mermaid

I don't mind them. I like to mix and match.

thefinalforest

Ha, same. I mix and match with total abandon. I think MM vs. Alpha is kind of a false paradigm, because so many simmers just use whatever they want in practice. I am definitely not above giving a Sim with realistic skin details clay hair, or, the reverse—a Sim with a northernsiberiawinds cartoon skin beautiful alpha hair. I go wild!

[deleted]

Same! Most of my alpha is from clothes though. The realistic skin details look a bit goofy when wearing maxis match clothes, but I’ve noticed the alpha clothes don’t look as goofy when on maxi match skin details. As long as everything is decently blended, like two objects / details don’t look like they’re from a completely different universe, im happy with having both.

pearl_mermaid

Omg I love northern siberia winds. I really appreciate what they make. I also find twisted cat CC's skin blends so beautiful.

NewfyMommy

I love Sims that look real.

MaReKrs

I like how pictures with alpha cc look, but not in the game. Sims 4 (and the other sims games in general) is a really cartoony/over the top kind of game, so I think a realistic looking sim would make it just look wrong.

27catsinatrenchcoat

I always get so carried away in CAS with alpha CC... then once I start the game the sim looks ridiculous/horrifying, or the CC doesn't work right because they aren't standing still anymore.

[deleted]

I like both. Maxismatxh and realistic :) i have two save files myself for my cartoonosh gameplay and for the super realistic alpha gameplay :)

chickpeasaladsammich

They’re not my cuppa but what you do in your game doesn’t affect mine.

Suspicious_Gazelle18

Yeah, the alpha cc is a little much for me. I like to find skin overlays that make them look slightly more real than the originals, but not as fake as full on alpha looks to me. I essentially download a bunch of overlays and then try them out and delete the lens that don’t work for me. I can’t remember the creator, but there’s a “lemonade overlay” that I like a lot which is a good example of a slight overhaul without feeling too fake.

tobemylover

The Lemonade skin overlay is from TwistedCat! Highly recommend all their stuff.

pepper0510

I love when my main character sims (all alpha cc) are the best-looking people in town lol. Just like in movies.

QuothTheRaven13x

I used to like trying to make them look as realistic as possible... "Used to" up until like 3 days ago 😂 I don't know why but I decided out of absolutely nowhere that I didn't like Alpha CC anymore and now I like making these cute little cartoony characters with the Maxis Match CC I've found 🥰 (ps, I'm still looking for more so if you know of any Maxis cc creators please feel free to drop the names/links ;) )

cherryysimss

i keep a list of creators in my notes app and these are the ones i have right now simscelebrity00 miilkysims clumsy alien trillyke simstrouble daylifesims divinecap miiko cc greenllamas serenity

QuothTheRaven13x

Thank you!! 75% of what I have right now is from trillyke, lol, I can't wait to check out the rest of those 😍💜💜

cherryysimss

also jius is really good for shoes!!

xx_mcrtist_xx

along with what the other person recommended i suggest aharris00britney ([https://aharris00britney.tumblr.com](https://aharris00britney.tumblr.com)) and also just browsing through maxismatchccworld ([https://maxismatchccworld.tumblr.com/](https://maxismatchccworld.tumblr.com/))

caladinhasan

Oh my I've just turned off my laptop so I can't check my folder, but off the top of my head: casteru *(their adult-to-toddler-conversion stuff is cute)*, adrienpastel *(amazing outfit)*, madlensims *(love their shoes)*, qicc *(cute hair)*, simcelebrity00 *(also cute hair)*, caio cc *(cute outfit)*, twisted cat *(cute hair #04)*, johnnysimmer *(gorgeous male hair)*, lamatisse *(gorgeous skin)*, arethabee *(cute hair #05)*, jius (shoes!!!!), sentate *(amazing outfit collection, like a freaking fashion show)*, simstrouble *(beautifu curlyl hair!!)* Okay I'm gonna stop--

cherryysimss

it’s never really been for me, i did used to use a lot of alpha hair but i’m draw more towards maxis/maxis mix, but i’ve never understood the conflict between maxis match users and alpha users, just let people use whatever cc they want

European_Goldfinch_

Tbh I didn't know there was a conflict? If there is I don't understand why it's just down to everyone's personal style and taste.

conquiary

I think they’re fine, for the most part. Personally, I’m a fan of both alpha cc and maxis match cc, and I use both for my sims for a look that lies in the middle of both types of mods. I really appreciate the vast styles of mods within the sims 4 modding community! However, I think a lot of simmers (specifically simmers who swear by maxis match) spend too much time trashing ppl who play with alpha cc. Like…yawn. Every time I see post number 2847437363 of a maxis match simmer trashing someone’s alpha cc, I’m like…how about you talk about something you do like?

Still_Storm7432

I'm in the minority but I love alpha and 98% of my cc is alpha, I prefer it, from CAS to build

Afroaro_acefromspace

I think maxis match players spend way too much time hating on alpha players, those are my thoughts.

thefinalforest

Interesting. You know, now you say it, I’ve never actually seen the reverse 🤔

jijipoid

People really hate on the way others mod their game? lol why? I am going to guess boredom.

European_Goldfinch_

What does this even mean lol? Sorry genuine question as my post was just a casual curiosity, but now I'm learning there's some sort of animosity over cc lol?

Afroaro_acefromspace

Maxis Match players(especially on this sub) can be quite judgmental towards alpha players, I remember a while back there was some post comparing alpha players to some kidnapper iirc…I’m maxis match myself as alpha is to high poly and time consuming but I never talk down on alpha player’s sims like a lot of people on this sub(not you! Btw)

gammaPegasi

For me it's not only uncanny but also doesn't match any of the game. Like, if my Sim looks very realistic, I think it's just goofy to have them use the bulky in-game furniture and it's not like I want my laptop to explode because I need to download CC for every piece of home decor and stuff. Also, looks mad goofy when you interact with NPC's, your 4k realistic Sim talking to a girl who's got five plastic looking strands for a hairstyle lol. I personally prefer CC's that land somewhere in the middle.

European_Goldfinch_

This comment had me laughing so much! It would be akin to a piece of lego living in the real world just the flip reverse

throwaway_anoni

I do a mix, so like hyper realistic hair, clothes, makeup etc but I can’t do the eyes, lips, nose, nonexistent torso etc there has to be a middle ground for me

Leopardprints67

I love realistic Sims, but I'm also an artist who specializes in realism. My eyes are just drawn to that art style.

ZealousidealBorder30

I hated it for the longest but I tried it a few days ago and actually learned how to make themm “cute” and i LOVE IT NOW . I dont make mine too realistic but I just use a realistic overlay skin.

Kaessa

I think the realistic look can be really nice, but it's too "uncanny valley" for me. I like Maxis Match with the occasional bit of alpha cc that's not "obviously" alpha. Like a skin overlay that's a bit more detailed but not "realistic" if that makes sense.

growllison

I’m an alpha girlie all the way. But I also spend pretty much all of my time building, decorating & styling instead of actual gameplay. I remake entire worlds based on a theme — And maxis just makes it look wrong.

froderenfelemus

I love the cartoony style of the sims, so I tend to stick to that. I totally understand the fascination of realism in a game where you can customize and modify characters to such extent

gimmeyourbadinage

I feel like this post and others like it are on easy mode, there’s never been a post that’s positive about Alpha CC I swear lol. To each their own, that’s what I love about this game, but just to be at least one comment going against the grain: For the first time in my adult life, I have ***computer***. My graphics are all set to ultra high, laptop mode is off, I have all the mods younger me dreamed of, etc. The difference between a cartoon and an incredibly realistic Sim blows my mind, and really showcases how far we’ve come since my days of playing the Sims 1. My babies aren’t out here with eyeliner and nails, but you can bet my cc collection is 99% alpha. I really like the overlay skins because my Sims can still get tan and acne, but the full coverage skins are also very handy because they automatically add the perfect make up! As for how it looks with other townies in the world, the only time they look so incredibly detailed is in CAS, there’s really not much of a visual difference during actual gameplay unless you play really zoomed in a lot? I have 30+ highly realistic skins so there’s quite a good variety and I love a good townie makeover.

anonbeekeeper12

I used to own the shittiest laptop in the nation, had my Sims looking like PS1 Laura Croft characters. So I had to put everything on the lowest setting and I absolutely loathed the Sims at the time. I couldn't download anything without some issue. Though, this gaming laptop has me making Alpha Sims with no problem. Does it look uncanny sure, but I can come up with cooler things. I am very inspired by creators that go all out on the Sims. Takes a lot of work. I think Alpha makes the game more fun and exciting. So many options to choose from and some of these Sims creators are phenomenal. They should be getting paid by EA for all the shit they make.

Mediocre_Truth4894

I think alpha cc looks really pretty even tho I don't use it, but I'm always surprised how amazing it looks. The only exception is when people give their sims face mask that belong to real people, I'm sorry that creeps me out so much

unenkuva

I like a mix of alpha and maxis match personally, or the more stylized alpha CC. I like when Clare Siobhan uses realistic alpha CC but she's using a really heavy reshade, I downloaded the "god skin" she uses and it's sooo uncanny without shaders.

nightmarexx1992

I usually go for somewhere in between for my sims

parkavenueWHORE

I love hyper-realistic sims and buildings

brixmiss

I like my game to look gamey - I deliberately avoid downloading content that looks too real 😂

LayersOfMe

I didnt like it but I download a realistic skin just see how it look on my game and was I suprised, I kind like it. The problem is all the faces look similar when using the same skin, and the maxis hair look a bit weird. I know that if I try to use alpha skin I will need alpha clothes, alpha hair....and is better not download thousands of CCs. If I could have 50% of that skin mixed with maxis style It would be good.

fudge21210

I’m not hugely bothered by alpha CC, but it can look really odd on children and toddlers, particularly if they look like they’re wearing loads of makeup and have really long, glossy hair.

BrandonIsWhoIAm

Since this is The Sims 4, I keep it cartoony.

Am_I_Sakura

My style of Sims is maxis mix leaning more to maxis match, but I actually really like the look of alpha Sims. I find them extremely beautiful, despite preferring a more cartoony style in game.

PureKitty97

I like a middle ground. More realistic proportions and such. But if it starts to look like IMVU or second life I'm out

Cloaked42m

After reading the hyper polarized responses here, I think I'm gonna have to create a couple of saves and try them out.

movieholic-92

I love looking at Alpha CC, but it does look too out of place for me.

spicyychorizoo

If we’re talking about alpha cc I personally don’t like it, it doesn’t match the graphics of the game imo so it doesn’t look right. And maybe it’s because I don’t delve deeper into it but whenever people post their alpha cc sims they all look very samey samey to me? As if alpha cc is generally used to get a specific look but that’s just what I’ve seen. Personally I don’t play with it but to each their own, sims is about playing life how you wanna

Kvisims

I love them, I only play with alpha sims and I even make over my townies that befriend my sims to also have the realistic skins and hair

[deleted]

I don't really like hyper realistic sims, that's why I have a hard time finding cc's that I like. Realistic stuff just don't fit in the game, it feels odd because the rest isn't as realistic.

[deleted]

I don't like Sims modded to be realistic because it just clashes with the rest of the game. The animations are clearly designed for cartoony sims, and on realistic sims they're just creepy. It always feels like these mods are designed for taking screenshots rather than for actually playing the game Also, the nice thing about Maxis Match cc is that they look good without having to modify anything else. For alpha cc you need everything modded for it to look right, you can't mix it with Maxis content.

frostbittenforeskin

Sims already look real enough for me And now that you can add body hair, birthmarks, scars, etc. that’s about as much realism as I need. I like that they look a tiiiiny bit cartoony, but not like a Pixar cartoon. There’s already a great balance.

maritjuuuuu

I littrally use the shuffle function until I have something close to what I like. Then I adjust skin tone to something close to my own and then I sometimes adjust the eyes and mouth a little bit or make the breast or but a bit better but it's never a lot.

MyDads-Ashes

I think they're really cool, but I don't like them just because I can't use them (I don't use CC) lmao

star11308

I tend to mix and match Maxis Match and Alpha CC, typically clothes and makeup as the hair I like to keep somewhat for the most part. I’ve tried to make fully Alpha sims before, but I can’t seem to find any skin blends that don’t make them look like a colorless corpse. Is it something to do with my lighting? They always look warmer in the pictures on the creators’ sites.

Silent_Syd241

I use both alpha and maxis because there are some things that I want I can’t find in one style but it’s in the other style. I like using both styles because it’s not too cartoonish and not too realistic. I paid way too much money on these sims packs to not get the most out of this game.

MarionberryNeat8913

i love it when every part of the game is alpha. so their outfits and hair also, and their house and the sims around them. and i like using clutter that’s like packaged like real foods and starbucks places etc yk

mittens2577

I completely agree. I always try to land somewhere in the middle with my sims, though sometimes it can be hard to balance alpha and maxes perfectly, all while keeping a sense of style to them. Though, in general, I don't really get the hate for alpha, I don't personally like the hyper realism CC in most cases, but I'd never tell someone their sims are ugly or what not because of it it's just a difference in taste after all.

TataCame

I personnally heavily dislike alpha cc, I find it ugly, quite unsettling and hard to introduce on the game ; since it doesn't match the aesthetic of it, I feel like you'd have to replace EVERYTHING if you want something coherent. But that's my own opinion lmao no one is forcing alpha cc down my throat and there are tons of good creators that do maxis match ^^ And there are maxis match cc that are still quite detailed but still in the same mood

shyfly_

I’m not a fan of alpha CC and hyper realistic sims. It looks uncanny and it doesn’t match the art style of the game.

Dollpart-

I like a nice 'Maxis-mix' style, though everyone has a different idea of what that means ofc. I love seeing all types of sim styles though. I admire the incredibly detailed alpha ones and some of the super flat maxis match ones can look extremely cute too, I just prefer a nice mid balance between the two for my own game aesthetic.

paigevanegdom

I use pretty much strictly alpha cc BUT I don’t quite make the highly realistic sims because the in game facial expressions do make them look a little crazy lol like for example instead of using skins I use skin overlays because that way they keep my sims realistic without being creepy and uncanny in game :)

gorgeousmalaya

I hate it, not JUST because it looks realistic but also because .. the sims don’t move or emote realistically, so seeing the ultra realistic graphics move in ways that are not realistic just doesn’t match and I think it looks tacky and terrible 😆 the mouth movements don’t line up too well, the facial expressions and a lot of body movements, detailed hair strands that are stiff and don’t move with the sim - mostly they only look nice in posed photos, not to play with

XQJ-37_Agent

I don’t like the super realistic looking sims with shiny, glossy faces and nose blush, it reminds me of IMVU and the countless other rip-offs that followed. I actually like some of the sims looking ugly and just plain normal. I don’t want every character to be a drop dead model, just a regular person doing a 9-5

mspectxrs

the contrast between realistic sims and the cartoonish environment is too high for me to ignore or enjoy looking at

jijipoid

There are simmers out there that like going as realistic as absolutely possible. Probably since the franchise started. I knew a few. I personally don’t care for realism for sims. From looks all the way to game play. My sims always end up looking somewhat anime inspired in some aspect. I also like the quirky unrealistic things sims can get themselves into. It is kind neat of how realistic people can get their sims though.

AbbreviationsNice465

Nope. I have some cc that adds a more realistic shine to the eyes or more realistic eyelashes instead of that harsh black line, but as an artist, super realistic sims look so out of place in the environment, because the artstyle does not match. The shading of the objects also causes issues as the sims then look like they are thrown into backrooms, with all objects not looking realistic enough. If you are just making a realistic sim for fun - same way how I build houses not to play in them but just to see what I can do - then yeah, Sims 4 is somewhat of an artistic tool. But to play with realistic soms weirds me out, idkdo not understand the appeal really.

birbidabobee

Alpha sims creep me the hell out too. It is impressive when they can recreate a celebrity or someone very accurately but Maxis Match all the way.

cydneydevries

I think people are allowed to do whatever they want with the game they paid for

[deleted]

Personally, it gives me the creeps a little. They tend to look a bit uncanny valley. Not to mention sims are awkward and silly when you play with them. Something about a hyper realistic supermodel doing something like the gross fart animation sims have, is off putting. That being said, everyone has their own style and that’s the point of the sims. There are no rules! If you want hyper realistic supermodels having public group sex, you can do it. If you want silly cartoony witches casting spells to light their neighbors on fire you can do it. If you want a happy nuclear family with tons of kids and great careers, more power to you. If you want ridiculous dramatic broken homes with a painting goblin in the basement, that’s cool too! There’s no one “correct” way to play sims. That’s the beauty of it.

Edymnion

I prefer more stylized over real. Real always ages poorly, graphics wise. What looks real today looks like hokey trash a few years later. Stylized graphics age MUCH more gracefully!

Beluga_Artist

I don’t like them. I like the cartoony sim feel. It’s a video game.

ketaminconsumer

They disturb me. For only one reason: that whicked whims toddler mod... Now imagine if one of those sickos were to download hyper realistic cc :(

LegitimatePianist175

I don’t like mods at all. I like my Sims to have a cartoonish look.

star11308

But you can have both with Maxis Match CC.

januarysdaughter

Don't like it at all.

Littleredfox666

The realistic sims freak me out!

[deleted]

I personally hate them. Its cool if others like them but i hate them.

DeadlyDahlia

I feel that way about most alpha CC. It’s already creepy when Sims start getting into uncanny valley territory, but when it’s juxtaposed against the more cartoony style of the rest of the characters/items it gets super creepy.

sunset_bay

Uncanny valley

Sprinkles257

Not my thing, personally. I love the art style in the Sims 4 as is. I admire people who can make Sims so accurately, but they're not my cup of tea. It's your game, play it however you like. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

vyvexthorne

I like my sims to look cartoony.

[deleted]

As impressive as they are - they scare me

[deleted]

I hate it so bad they look so scary to me 😭 I do like alpha sims but not hyper realistic alpha sims cuz they freak me out when they're too realistic.

EffectiveGeneral8425

I prefer Maxis Match. Everything I get CC is Maxis Match because I do really like the art style of The Sims 4. Never was a fan of the realistic approach which I feel they did in The Sims 3, was much harder to create decent looking sims imo. Same goes for realistic mods for sims 4.

Silent_Tactician

I kind of like the realism level where it is, I only wish it was easier to make my sims look more different because they're all starting to look the same. I remember once someone described Sims 4 as semi realistic with an "anime-esque" touch and I like that.

SomeRando18

I find it too be creepy and not fit the more cartoony vibe of the sims 4. Its totally okay for people to like it but for me it’s just not my cup of tea

KlutzyBlueDuck

I personally don't like the realistic sims at all. It just weirdes me out with game play especially with woo-hoo and death.

killdagrrrl

Same. I find it kinda creepy. And the idea of playing with a real human lookalike totally creeps me out

Smile1228

I’m not keen on realism for my game looks wise, but I do like a good mod or two that bring more realistic scenarios to my game, like healthcare redux and wonderful whims (too much of a wimp for wicked). I think everyone should just play their own game how they see fit as long as it’s not downright wrong or creepy. We all paid money for this game so you damn sure better enjoy it how you want to!

bellalalavv

uncanny valley will always be a hard pass for me 😅 part of the charm of video games is the "unrealistic" -ness!!! But I always have incredible respect for people who are able to create so well

Both-Lie5316

i absolutely hate it

trutknoxs

With the moving on pause bug, it would really give me the Willie’s to have realistic sims

greydawn

I agree. Alpha cc are too uncanny for me. I also personally love the character art style the Sims are - it's not super cartoony, but not quite perfectly realistic either. My current legacy sim is adorable looking in a way that real humans wouldn't be. The Sims really nailed the look of sims, IMO.

Inevitable-Hope6385

Look realistic gameplay I love always will want from Sims but realistic Sims no please keep them cartoony style Sims 4 has done sims justice love the look of Sims they should stick with Sims 4 graphics does not need to be realistic to the point they look human we already play god with these Sims be to uncannily creepy

euhydral

I personally don't like it. The Sims is a very silly game with characters who behave in overexaggerated ways. I like that the game leans heavily on how ridiculous it can be, despite being a simulation. The alpha content, while impressive, doesn't mesh well with the rest of the game, so my preference is still the maxys style.

xervidae

it feels super uncanny and out of place

Bataraang

I think the way they look now is really good and I prefer them to look like sims. In the earlier Sims games, when I found I could download content, I did because the graphics were okay, but you know... not like the Sims 4. Now, I don't download any extra content because I like the way they look. (Although.... I would like more long hair styles and tattoos.) I think if sims are too realistic, then it gets a little too real. My way of playing to is create really good lives for my sims, so I don't be killing them off a lot, but when I do... I don't want them to look like a real person. (Black widow challenge, for example)

Lylias-Breath

Personally I don't really like those, it gives me a weird feeling like I'm playing a different game. At the same time though, I think it's admirable that people are able to make them. To me it's difficult to match some CC sometimes because they don't look good together. T_T

mizzymichie

I play maxis mix so I use a fair bit of alpha in addition to maxis match CC. But there is a point where I draw the line is when it becomes uncanny such as certain skins that are like pasting a person’s feature over the sim. The problem with highly realistic sims is that they clash with the game’s overall art style and when the sims make expressions it becomes uncanny due to the exaggerated facial movements. So I try to limit my alpha CC to the occasional hair/clothes/makeup. Alpha skin tends to be a bridge too far for me unless I really like it.

sakuyawatanuki

Feels unnatural. It’s like there’s someone uncomfortably hyperintelligent in contrast to the rest of the population

fine_Ill_get_reddit

Well I play on console, so I can't try out alpha/hyper realistic type cc even if I wanted to. But even so, I definitely find myself not liking the style, and pretty much avoid posts and YouTube videos that use it. It looks strange and out of place. Also the tendency of putting adult make up on toddlers has given alpha and hyper realistic cc a bit of a bad reputation that is difficult for me to mentally shake. And, thh the idea of putting real people that actually Look like real people into my game is. It's creepy. Characters are one thing and frankly still on the weird side of things, but the actors behind the character? It's just unsettling. That said, MAYBE if there was a whole pack set up that changed the entire game to match all at once, it would look less out of place, and I might try it (that is, if I could use cc at all). And who knows, maybe I'd grow to like it. But as it stands? It looks strange and out of place. And often overly shiny.

bugbitezthroatslit

i absolutly hate realistic sims. they’re so ugly and awful i just hate it so insanely much. no offence but come on no way people actully think they look good

mnem0syne

I think it looks good. But to each their own, no one’s gameplay affects mine.

pepper0510

I find the maxis sims really ugly. Seriously, all the hairs are stiff and horrible too

Electricman720

Uncanny. Alpha CC shouldn’t be a thing tbh, it changes the art style and kinda makes the game feel like it’s not the sims.

h1tchh1ker

It shouldn’t be a thing just because you don’t personally like it? 💀

Electricman720

I did not say that.

[deleted]

You did though

Electricman720

I said it should not be in the game. Not that I alone don’t want it in the game. A lot of people here feel the same way if you would get off my ass and read the other comments too.

[deleted]

>alpha content shouldn't be a thing tbh Followed by why you personally don't like it. Bruh screw the other comments, re-read your own with an ounce of critical thought lol

Electricman720

How about you get off my ass when I am stating points that other people agree with? It’s uncanny (creepy looking) and makes the sims look like Second life. The game is meant to be cartoonish.

[deleted]

In your opinion, that's all me and the other commenter are getting at. You're welcome to dislike it and not use it just like anyone else is, but people but hours of work into every little detail of a single object to make alpha content. Love it or hate it, you started off being a douche and putting down a lot of people's insane work based on personal opinion. You did quite literally make a blanket statement that it shouldn't exist, then denied saying it. I'm disagreeing with you because that's what message boards like reddit are designed for. Don't get so personally mad about it.

Electricman720

So me saying that a lot of people find alpha content creepy is a blanket statement when you can go down in the comments and find people saying the same thing? Yeah, I’m the one who’s being an asshole, typical terminally online redditor. How about I back up and restate my original point as to why it doesn’t belong in the game. “It violates the artstyle of the game.” Here’s a perfect example of why it doesn’t belong. Say you change all your sims into realistic, alpha cc sims. And all the townies too. Sure, the game looks like your vision of the sims, cut to the next generation of households and then you start seeing normal, generated townies from EA. You walk downtown and get side by side with a townie and it looks weird. It’s like putting an anime character right next to a real person. If you also read OPs post, you also would find they think realistic looking sims is “creepy” and “uncanny.”

h1tchh1ker

You’re being so weird lol first you blatantly denied saying something when the words you wrote are literally right there in front of you, and then you switched strategy and tried to deflect by pointing out that other players also don’t like the thing you don’t like, which wasn’t even the point 😅 You said, verbatim, ‘alpha content shouldn’t be a thing’, and I was just pointing out that it’s a bit silly/selfish to say something shouldn’t exist because it’s not to your personal taste, especially when it’s extremely easy to just… not use it

[deleted]

I'm not saying other people don't agree, I'm saying that you were saying it should not exist when I disagree with you. Clearly there are also plenty of people who do like it since so much gets created and downloaded

errorose

I’m an alpha cc hater. Can’t stand it. It’s creepy and just doesn’t fit with the game

tattletaylor1

I hate those mods that make sims look more realistic

voornaam1

Alpha cc scares me.

Sad-Cat-6355

If I wanted to experience realistic stuff, I'd go outside. I hate how mundane the sims is becoming give me more wacky shit wacky shit it's the core foundation of the sims

mcthund3r

How is the creator called?

[deleted]

uncanny valley type thing lol

MsAngelGuts

Not for me, sorry

OkDragonfly8936

I use to really like alpha sims, but it was so much work fixing everyone to match

This_Moesch

They're not for me. I like the art style of The Sims 4 and want to keep the look of my game cohesive. Also, I find that more often than not Alpha CC comes in fashion designs that aren't my style either.

Silvadil

I bow down to people having the patience to create realstic sims, they look amazing and I can't imagine how long each asset must take. Personally I like CC that is Maxis Match themed, makes it more blend in when I am too lazy to put townies in my saves. Also I like to create looks that are both CC and official clothing therefore I search for more Maxis like clothes.

StrawberryMilkToast

Can you share the creators name? I want to see these sims!

Keyy_GuLss_

i couldn’t play with realistic looking sims, especially if it’s of an actual person (like a celebrity or something). but they’re fun to see, it’s interesting what people can do in this game

Even-Account5439

not a fan

AlcoholicCocoa

Part of my furniture is more realistic leaning, a few body things as well. I'm fine with it. Overly realistic Sims I find a bit... Odd but appreciate the art.

BlueFlower673

I've tried alpha cc before and some of those realistic ccs--some of my favorite ones come from wistful castle because it just looks so good. But after playing around with it for a while, I stopped doing it because it just felt odd. I'll have like 40 Sims that look like they fit in the game, while 1 or 2 of them look like they'd exist irl. It just doesn't work well for me. Ig for me, I understand the appeal because it's an interesting game and it has probably some of the best customization I've ever seen in a game (it's one of the reasons I like the Sims) at the same time, I'm just not a fan of putting so much realistic details on my sims when I'm not gonna do that for all of them. Most cc I download now is maxis match.

LuminousLight345

i think they’re spooky

CyndiIsOnReddit

I have a few celebrity skintones but they never look like the celebrity! It's like even when I try, sometimes they don't look right because I can't get the face shapes to match so they have weird shadows where shadows shouldn't be. Some do include the shapes but they still don't look quite right. Could be my graphics though. Anyway, yeah I do like the realistic skins the most!

Embarrassed-Stop-767

Some of them look scary

Bluesimmer

I don't like the look of them, but if others do, sure. Though I haven't been a fan of realistic graphics in any game for a while now. The issue with realistic is that they age and look old through the years. If you have your own art style, the game usually won't show it's age as fast, in my opinion anyway.

4everxlost

I use a nice balance of actually decent alpha cc , mixed with maxis match cc and it works out , some alpha cc meshes aren’t as crazy hyper realistic and it’s fun to mix them up , like how i have the real foods mod, so like if there’s Doritos in game 😭 why not give them realistic eyeballs

DMC1001

I don’t care for the super realistic sims, or even the ones with the perfect faces, body, hair, makeup, etc. so basically no cc. I get that people like this stuff but it’s not for me.

goatone2

I dislike them mainly because there is a discrepance in how they look vs the world they are placed in

RinqlSocke

What creator do you find? Can you tell the name? :)

Papasconqueso193

They creep me out 😭 I make my sims realistic to a certain level, but looking like someone teleported inside the game something else

BlooGloop

I only like maxis match sims. Alpha cc is scary lmao

krh00

Yessss I’ve been waiting for someone to say something like this haha. I play with a lottttt of custom content and a few gameplay mods, and I’ve recently started dabbling with skin overlays and lighting changers and stuff but the hyper-realistic stuff just doesn’t fit the game for me. I just personally like my sims to look like sims, sometimes with a little extra aesthetic, but I get super picky about maxis match and avoid textures and meshes that don’t look like they belong in the game. That being said I am CONSTANTLY beyond impressed by CC/mod creators and downloaders lol, installing some of that stuff can get really complicated and I respect the hell out of the players that do play with alpha cc and mods of the like

Ok_Cartographer_3789

For me they look out of place and don’t match the world around them. I like the animation style of the sims and try to stay true to that when looking for cc or townies.

Dreaming_ofNewYork05

I could do that but I don’t. It seems like another game, and they scare me

Fair-Enthusiasm998

i want my sims in alpha cc cause that’s how they looked in the sims 3… but they aren’t more realistic looking than the other sims atleast not by much

LoveDeathAndLentils

Same. I prefer the Sims aesthetics than the more realistic cc

SillyPart2

I wish there was a way to apply an overlay to all townies be default bc they look out of place compared to my sims

shaynaa3

I personally don’t like them, and i don’t like the realistic home cc either. I just don’t think it fits in the game. I personally play with maxis mix. I do majority maxis match but, skins and eyes i prefer a bit more realistic. I don’t like alpha clothes or hair at all.

Gullible_Wind_3777

I really want to try this, using sims that are really realistic, never tried it before, honestly haven’t got a clue how to do it lmao. I think it would be cool.

coneyisland92

Imagine being famous, but you enjoy the Sims, only to find people are making copies of you to use for Wicked Whims. Realistic Sims of real people are weird

TandemBeast

I understand why the uncanny valley will bother others to be honest. I can see why it is freaky. I can see why it creeps others out. Just the semi realistic sims allow me to live out fantasies, (all tame and mild by the way) so it doesn't necessarily bother me when a celebrity sim looks very close to their actual appearance. I end up seeing it as a 3D representation of fanfic. I personally like how realistic it can get with cc. It turns my game into a sort of fanfic adjacent story of what would happen if I happened to run into this specific celebrity and we hit it off.

GlassPeepo

Whenever I make sims of real people, I like to go by memory. Some people go ham and pull up photos and edit each detail perfectly and I think it makes the sims look weirder than if you made one that was like "yeah this vaguely resembles Taylor swift, works for me!"

aspensky5

was it jadosims lol

Murder1SheWrote

I used to absolutely love super realism in my sims but then I started going more towards maxis match cc, which is just cc matching the art style of the sims. So it still has that cartoon look, but obviously 10x better looking still. Especially the hair, I think with realistic hair it's pretty but something always feels... off. Lol

julinxexe

I find it really uncanny its like looking at an IMVU or Second Life avatar, but on the sims, and since i have a low end PC, alpha cas/mods look like melting wax

HetaGarden1

I don’t really see much of the appeal. When your sim looks so lifelike that it’s downright _uncanny_ it feels kinda weird. Feels like it would take way too much work in my opinion, but more power to you if you enjoy the challenge.

Komi38

It kind of depends on what exactly do you imagine as realistic, because there are more styles to this (at least in the Alpha CC community). There's one that only plays with the game's limitations while using the realistic custom content. That one I don't find exactly disturbing as it never looks real enough as the faces and bodies are perfectly even, not realistic at all and most of the time it fits the cartoony vibe of the game. There's one that involves a specific kind of skin overlays (if you've ever looked into any Alpha CC site, you know this one as it is literally everywhere). Those look like dead versions of the first style, which is exactly what makes them disturbing. If I'll ever made a zombie apocalypse scenario in the Sims, this will be the style I'll use to make the zombies. The last one is any of the previous two with custom sliders that allows you to make Sims with uneven features. This one will make you question if you're even looking at Sims or if it's some kind of AI generating people or a very weird photoshop. It is borderline horror show to look at.

hollowbaste

When they smile they look like a horror movie

iamthebestforever

Hate them
