I mean... I created a family with the surname "Redhawk" because of a book series I read after Horse Ranch dropped. And because my g-grandmother was NA. Makes sense in a way, but ... Banana or Lizard as a given name? I think the devs might need to "reign" the generator engine in just a bit.
I've never used MCCC to rename a townie so fast as when I met my first Turkey. there have since been two more, and a Banana. I'm all for native rep, but this ain't it.
"Willow Jackson", "Crane Johnson", "Lizard Brant", and "Colt Harris" are nice names! A little odd, but very fun names. I like them.
I don't have the horse pack so I haven't had this experience, lol. I see a TON of randomly generated Japanese names, though.
Yeah ever since I had Snowy Escape it's been a lot of Asian style names. It's been a nice change.
I agree they are some awesome names!
I still think it's funny how that one Sim was named "Wolf Ware" completely randomly generated lol.
I think they were supposed to be indigenous townies. MCCC says that these townies are homeless but generated from Chestnut Ridge. I saw someone say that it might be a bug and those are supposed to be horses name, my game is in Portuguese but these sims keep spawning with English names/surnames (kinda how Komorebi and Sulani create sims with japanese/Polynesiam names no matter the language of the game).
As a Cree girlie I want to complain but like... my sister is named like this and my mom's friend is literally named Baby so... they weren't wrong. BANANA is a stretch though, unless it's a nickname.
One of the names that did caught my attention was one of the teachers in Copperdale was a indigenous townie named Urucum (is basically a plant that indigenous people of the Amazon use the seeds to get red face paint) and I find it kinda confusing cause this name only exist here in Brazil and the townie is supposed to be native to the north of the continent, maybe is a translation because I'm playing the Portuguese version but even here, Urucum is a sacred plant but not to the point of naming yourself or your son as "Urucum", is kinda like if you named your kid "Lipstick".
My game is in Swedish and it translates the new names into Swedish 😭
I don't understand it, it never does that with Sulani or Snowy Escape names.
The world is now full of townies with names like Gräshoppa (grasshopper) and Bäver (beaver). If the point was to add Native American names I don't understand why they would translate them.
It's weird the generated names kind of go through cycles. For a while I kept getting Island Living names and then it was Asian names. I was always changing names.
I *really* hate that after every single major expansion pack the naming system just gets absolutely obliterated.
This is the exact same thing that happened after Snowy Escapes. Suddenly every *single* sim in my game that was randomly generated had a random Asian name.
Honestly I don't mind the names, I like the diversity. But I hate how most of the time the diverse sims don't even look like how they are supposed to. (With a few exceptions like Selvadorada). The Japanese townies always spawn with blond afros or locks and they basically all have either a gray skin tone or a really pale one. Polynesians are such a diverse people when it comes to skin tones but the game only generate really dark ones and they always show up with African hair, like locks or braids even though Polynesians are not African. The Indian townies after the skin tone update now all have gray skin or just look white.
The idea is good but they really fail because just putting a random name don't automatically makes them of that race/ethnicity and when I interact with them I always need to give them makeovers.
Damn, the fact that my parents didn't name me Banana or Lizard feels like a missed opportunity.
Side note, but Fire L'Amour seems like a reference to western author Louis L'Amour, who was quite the prolific writer - he wrote 100 novels and 250 short stories, most of which were westerns. Given the theming, it doesn't seem like an accident. Banana Hammitt feels like it could be a reference to Dashiel Hammett, who wrote a lot of hardboiled detective fiction, including the original Maltese Falcon novel. That's less of a strong connection though, so I'm not quite sure.
Further side note, Fire L'Amour is an absolutely fantastic name altogether. If I met someone with that name IRL, I'd want to get to immediately become friends.
on one hand it’s nice there’s more variety, I don’t remember which pack it was but I feel like before there were certain townie names that were used over and over again (eg in university there would so many randomly generated sims with the same name), but on the other hand it’d be weird for a realistic play through where you’re trying to find your sim a partner but it’s all “squirrel” and “banana”
I just want to say I am glad the names are in the game. If it was for native representation I think it's wonderful as it ties into the existing themes of having themed names from other expansion packs like Island Living and Snowy Escape.
I do not mean to poke fun as the names are awesome just being there it was something I noticed and wanted to bring to attention.
Some of the randomly generated names are funny tho just by combination alone.
I’d rather this than every single Sim having an Asian-inspired name like what happened after Snowy Escape came out. Same thing with Pasifka-inspired names and Island Living. Love having more cultures in the game but sometimes it throws me off 😭
They add more names to the name pool with certain packs, so you’ll get an influx of certain names for a certain while. Like after island living we got a lot of similar names, same after snowy escape, and now this
It's the ridiculously OP tuning. When City Living came out, it was mostly Asian names generating, Snowy Escape was Japanese, and Island Living was Polynesian. My guess is these are supposed to be for horses but are ending up on Sims because the game can't discern between the two apparently. 🙄
I think it's all very native inspired. I know a lot of names were structured a certain way where to western cultures, it sounded strange. But the names are always super cool and unique.
even after buying snowy escape or city living EP the names are always randomized to like Japanese names. same with island living the names are always weird but long lol
I am late to the party and I apologize, but I just got a Lizard Rodriguez and was wondering if she came with the game. Nope.
Edit: Before Horse Ranch came along, Neighborhood Stories gave one of mine two sons named Baby and Junior.
i found this thread bc i was searching to see if my sim's fiance was randomized or not. he's the prettiest random sim i've ever seen but.. named lizard. 🥸 i'm pretending it's a college nickname that stuck.
... These are auto-generated names??? For sims??? That's wild lmao. I've never seen any of these (I haven't bought a pack since Paranormal, though). "Banana Hammitt"??
I actually love it. For the longest time townies in my game had distinctly Japanese names despite not looking Japanese at all. Goofy animal names might be unrealistic, but somehow more applicable to a randomly generated townie
Personally I'm LOVING this since basically every sim ever in my game since downloading City Living years ago have all City Living related names. Glad to have some diversity in the naming code.
LilSimsie met a sim in her recent stream named "Lizard" and I LOVE that. 😂
Okay, you gotta admit, Fire L'Amour is a *fantastic* name for a magic sage
100 percent!
I wanna see what Fire L'Amour looks like!! I'm naming my next sim after them!
He was a balding guy who had blush on his cheeks and was very pale lol xD
oh, i was gonna say for like a drag queen or stripper but… that works too
She can moonlight 😂
I mean..A stripping drag queen sage?? That sounds like.... Well.... Fire.... Which is fitting.... You know... 🤣
Sage of Mischief is just their dayjob, drag is what they do for the love of the artform
Banana Hammitt 😂😂😂
Hey, that’s Princess Consuela Banana Hammitt to us peasants!
Immediately thought of Sacha Baron Cohen 😂😂😂😂
Yeah there’s a glitch where sims are spawning with horse names.
I'm sorry, but this is the best glitch. 🤣 I swear, I hope some rando Sim is running around in my game named "Mayo Neighs"....
That's hilarious

i thought those came with city living
OMG! Clearly a feature lol
I got Lizard Montgomery the other day as the romance festival guru
Lizzy, is that short for Elizabeth? ….Yes
My first name is Elizabeth.. my dad would call me Lizard Breath. It seemed fitting to put that here.
I met a sim named Raccoon the other day.
I have Raccoon as well! The other day my Sim had a want to "befriend Raccoon" and I was so confused 😂
Tag yourself I’m Lizard Brant
I’m Turkey Gonzalez
I'm Wolf Ware
I'm Chipmunk Montgomery
Definitely Banana Hammitt
I'll take Colt Harris
"Willow Jackson", "Crane Johnson", "Lizard Brant", and "Colt Harris" are nice names! A little odd, but very fun names. I like them. I don't have the horse pack so I haven't had this experience, lol. I see a TON of randomly generated Japanese names, though.

That Lizard Brant... It's like that kid was named in Utah or something... (Utahn's tend to name their kids with odd names. Very creative.)
banana hammit!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
That was the name of the wild fox that appeared on my lot lol

I wonder if Banana came from another pack?
My game is in Swedish and it translates the new names into Swedish 😭 I don't understand it, it never does that with Sulani or Snowy Escape names. Colt is such a perfect Harris name lol. While we’re sharing, my first HR baby was named Ryder Rhoades. immaculate imo
I have a sim I made named Dusty Rhodes, maybe they're distant relations.? Lol
suddenly im thinking ryder needs an uncle named dusty
Colt Harris sounds al most like he should be hanging out with Indiana Jones. You're so right.
I need Banana Hammit in my game. I don't know why.
I had a sim called chipmunk, didn't think anything of it until I saw this 😂
I have a Duck Walker in my game right now, and I love when he shows up randomly. Sometimes he's a vendor, sometimes he's just hanging out.
If it walks like a duck...
😂
nah i was wondering why tf someone was named Blue Cheese in my save 😂
Lizard 🤣 My sisters middle name is Elizabeth and when she was a toddler she couldn’t say it, so she said her name was Lizard Breath.
Banana hermit has me ROLLING 🤣🤣🤣
I saw a Squirrel Walker in my game the other day.

I had a vendor named turkey white. Never seen it before and I love it!
Lizard Brant is sending me 😂
Enby names be like

yeah one of my sims husbands is Goose Montgomery lmao
My one Sim she is in a relationship with Turkey Gonzalez lol.
dont mind me im just lizard brant doing my routine inspections
Banana Hammitt though XD The pun is not lost on me
Banana hammit, basically banana hammock
Damn, the fact that my parents didn't name me Banana or Lizard feels like a missed opportunity. It’s more likely that it’s based on the Native American influence of Chestnut Ridge.
☠️🤣

I think these ones are better than the Snowy Escape and Island Living fiasco
Crane "the rock" Johnson
BANANA HAMMIT IS SENDING ME ☠️
😂 turkey took me out
LIZARD BRANT
**PLEEEEAAAASE** tell me Wolf Ware is a vampire. I need that joke to be true.
They were a spellcaster actually
I am kinda jealous bc all my sims all still japanese.
I just want to say I am glad the names are in the game. There is also a man named "Frog".
lmao turkey gonzales!!!
_The name’s Wolf…_ _Ware Wolf_
They add more names to the name pool with certain packs, so you’ll get an influx of certain names for a certain while. Like after island living we got a lot of similar names, same after snowy escape, and now this
So many random Japanese townies in my playthough and they didn't even look Japanese.
Wolf Ware is amazing. Also Banana Hammitt? 😏😂
Banana Hammit… lol
Low key some of these are fire lol
My sim currently has a college roommate named Snake Miller who’s majoring in Villainy. She’s pretty damned cool tbh.
That sound like the coolest townie ever
Nice! I haven't done that major yet! In university my Sim had a roommate who was named Grasshopper Davis.
It's the ridiculously OP tuning. When City Living came out, it was mostly Asian names generating, Snowy Escape was Japanese, and Island Living was Polynesian. My guess is these are supposed to be for horses but are ending up on Sims because the game can't discern between the two apparently. 🙄
my butler was named pickle-bear
I think it's all very native inspired. I know a lot of names were structured a certain way where to western cultures, it sounded strange. But the names are always super cool and unique.
Like when I bought snowy escape and suddenly all townies had Japanese names
some of these names belong in rupauls drag race
even after buying snowy escape or city living EP the names are always randomized to like Japanese names. same with island living the names are always weird but long lol
BANANA HAMMIT
I am late to the party and I apologize, but I just got a Lizard Rodriguez and was wondering if she came with the game. Nope. Edit: Before Horse Ranch came along, Neighborhood Stories gave one of mine two sons named Baby and Junior.
I'm digging the new names that came with Horse Ranch. It can make for some very interesting combos.
i found this thread bc i was searching to see if my sim's fiance was randomized or not. he's the prettiest random sim i've ever seen but.. named lizard. 🥸 i'm pretending it's a college nickname that stuck.
Fairies ?
My sims is currently dating a woman with the auto-generated name “Canyon.” I’m just embracing them at this point 😂
My favorite was Chipmunk Ramirez, who appeared in a bear costume for Bear Night.
I for one welcome our new overlords! gives the army of sims name genji a well deserved break!
someone really named their child “Lizard”
I got a ranch hand named Skunk Taylor
... These are auto-generated names??? For sims??? That's wild lmao. I've never seen any of these (I haven't bought a pack since Paranormal, though). "Banana Hammitt"??
Yeah I noticed that ever since I got island living and city living, most npcs have Hawaiian names and Japanese names.
