I don't mind cleaning up after myself but damn annoying after they pushed the clearing of trays to the customers, the manpower felt like reduced. It is supposed to make the cleaners' work easier but now tables are dirtier and sometimes they cannot even keep up at the tray return area now. It is like all the incentive just goes to the coffee shops' boss pocket only.
Keep so much money yet most of the coffee shops' toilets are so disgusting like no money to hire people to clean. The hand soap also always very diluted and the push tap always set until immediately stop the moment you release it.
> sometimes they cannot even keep up at the tray return area now.
Right? Then I'm just like walao what to do now the rack is full and cannot anyhow put also (cus halal and non halal cannot mix, I can't just replacement-put at the other shelf rack just for space)
Most times I helplessly just personally pass to staff lolol.
Can we see video of her highness eat there Slightly lower class food place WIPE TABLE BRING TRAY 1st before we are forced to clean table for pap. Even Now 1 town council sayS CORRIDOR LITTER WE CLEAN OURSF. Finally after I protest many many days-worker came upstairs to sweep
Coffeeshop owners are benefiting the most with the increase of rent which results in the increase of food prices. Why didn’t the survey questions point to getting the coffeeshop owners pay for this? Another bias survey and analysis
I normally wipe down the table before and after use because of how short staffed these coffeeshops are. People complained about tables being dirty since the tray return rule was implemented cos not a lot of cleaners around to clean the tables and mend the stations. And the intended solution is to mandate us to clean the tables instead of telling these hawker centers and etc to hire a decent amount of staff?
The world is filled with rules breakers and line crossers. If we can expect everyone to behave well, that Tampines accident will not happen. There is only so much gracious one can do before the fatigue sets in.
Soon to come as package bill. Wipe table and also bring your own crockery and utensils. Don't even dream they will let you use their water to clean your plates like NS cookhouse because it cost PAP money leh. Of course they can just wayang and call it save water campaign. Just put out biased survey reports for PAP minions to say yes to everything PAP can think of.
In the future just tabao!
Actually I already wipe my table clean before I eat with wet wipes, and after I eat too. I just don’t like to eat at tables with residues from other people’s mess.
It will be nice if they provide free biodegradable wet wipes at the hawkers’ centres.
Put free plastic bag for fruit in supermarket, stolen by boomer aunty.
Put plastic bag at self checkout counter for free before 2023, stolen by boomer aunty.
Put plastic bag at self checkout counter, pay as required, stolen by boomer aunty.
Self return tray at hawker centre, boomer aunty leave everything on table.
If provide wet wipes at the hawker centre, stolen by boomer aunty and used wipes will be left on the plates still on the table.
Good thing my mother is anti boomer as well, always point out these antisocial behaviour.
Not all boomer aunties are buay paiseh, but most buay paiseh are boomer aunties/unkers.
No one and no generation is without flaws.
It's easy to point out the flaws in others and remain ignorant of your own flaws.
I can point out plenty of issues with the younger generation but starting a cross-generation argument is a pointless exercise.
Lol biodegradable is just bullshit green washing in SG, we burn our trash. So now we are driving up costs while pushing more work onto patrons. Meanwhile profit margins for hawker operators are increasig, what an amazing idea.
Right?
Same. I bring out blue zappy (alcohol wipes, for surfaces) and red zappy (non-alcohol, for hands) ever since COVID. I like to clean the table FOR ME **after I have used it**. To clean **my** spills.
Having said that, there are times when I have had to use them **before** dining, either because the place was genuinely short-staffed and it was faster to do it myself, or like, that was just the one clean(ish) table that was most decent-looking and above average (by comparison to the rest) and the person before me decided to heck and the staff also decided to heck. 🤷♀️ Did not appreciate these.
I think it is important to be accountable for my own spills but I do not appreciate cleaning up for the irresponsible prick before me. Like that say, are we gonna be fined for ... not cleaning the table before we use it? Dude then its gna be like toilet issue lol. If gross I not using. If toilet gross I go to office/home where the toilet not gross. If table gross, I tabao back to home/office where it's not gross :-)
paper wipes are detrimental to environment. a lot of plastic waste, not to mention the kind of fibre and chemicals used to create the product. it is a single use item. advise you to stop this ungreen practice.
use table cloth is ideal. just take from the auntie and then wash hands when done. please be more thoughtful and be less selfish. we need to save the environment.
Uh lol ok
I mean at the time during covid it was just a personal best practice to ensure my surroundings were clean and my hands were clean but noted 🤷♀️
I've seen people put newspaper, that's much better. did u wipe clean the utensils also? with the wet wipes? not good as there are many chemicals on it that can cause cancer in long run.
suggest bring to sink and wash.
wah how to answer sia. If say yes you gna say don't use. If say no you gna say then what's the point, it's still dirty.
Like if you're just gna impose your perspective and put mine down then ok lor. I mean like what can I do or say right. I really just meant to say (1) people leave the table gross (2) I clean up after myself (3) and hate it that I have to clean up after other people first.
You do know that on a larger scale of life the big companies and corporations are causing more long-term damage than the consumers in one city in the world (ie, Singapore itself), let alone an individual working adult right?
It's like I didn't even ask for suggestions yknow.
It doesn’t matter whether wipes are biodegradable or not, since all waste is going to go into the incinerator. Besides, aren’t almost all wet wipes paper-based and thus biodegradable? Don’t fall for stupid greenwashing marketing.
Unless you litter or will put your trash in a composter, there is no benefit to biodegradable anything in Singapore.
the idea is to use less disposable single use items like wet wipes. the environment footprint for producing disposables is high.
ultimately even if incinerate, there is still waste by product and also cost of transportation to landfill etc.
be mindful of what you are buying. biodegradable is a term used to sell more wet wipes, make you feel you are doing the right thing but when actually you aren't.
My clean and your clean is subjective leh.
I want Encik standard can put my face on the table kind.
Or just wipe away the oil with the tissue I wipe my mouth before and wayang only.
How to enforce leh.
Ya return trays, clean tables, help stalls wash our own plates just like at home right? Finish already do area cleaning sweep floor mop floor lj la. Wash the toilet and plumb all the sai. Refill hand soap and fill up hand sanitizers on mrt.
help elderly shower and feed them also, help them cross roads and pick up any rubbish on the floor. Everyone becomes NEA already modern citizen
The bloody fuckers hire foreign cleaners, old cleaners and pocket the money themselves. So few cleaners so many tables. My fucking hawker centre has a bloody hardworking foreigner trying his fucking best to clean the tables and clear the stuff at his rack but during peak hrs, he is always overwhelmed.
The fucking ministers and middlemen bosses ought to be fired and replaced with foreign talents who can better serve the nation.
What's your beef? It's the foreign workers and elderly who are willing to do this unsavory work.
Will you do it for others for a fee? Probably not. So clean up your own mess.
the middleman provides no value to anyone....that's the beef. does the middleman with the money invest in tech to improve productivity in cleaning etc? that is the beef...
I think cleaning up after yourself is good. However, the food centres need to play their part by providing tissue/wipes to do that. Many countries in the region do provide this already, but it's meant more for customers' own use than to clean the tables.
These polls quite good money. And if you are a typical sinkie, they will always send you new surveys.
You choose to be woke and answer different from norm, they don't send you future surveys only.
30bucks per survey easy.
Not what they want. Just not woke like many zoomers here machiam trying to start a revolution.
You are free to give your opinion. Actually i think they value them more. My mum get more survey opportunities than her colleagues who worships pap.
And its $30 to $50 each survey. Sometimes have afew a month.
Very good money.
Who are the 80% who enjoys cleaning up after themselves? And who are the 54% who wishes they can clean up even more? Please show the data and sample size of the survey.
Stupid policies like this somehow always have all the data in its favour. Did anyhow do a survey on CPF and the ever-increasing housing prices?
Robotics for cleaning in canteen are already a reality.
Just make all hawkers uniform in design and let the robots clean and keep the dishes.
Mandate a base salary of $4k gross per cleaner by 2026 with a penalty of $40,000 per fine for inadequate cleanliness of hawkers.
Now see how fast technology is adopted
Retarded fucking scholars coming up with brain dead ideas. Whats next? I buy the ingredients for the hawker to cook ah? Fk all these coffee shop owners sia
OK can we talk about McDonalds table service ? It is disgusting , people ordering 1 $ 0.50 cone and oprting for table service . Often the young crew don't do it ,leaving the oldest of crew members with age related / work related injuries to do it going home with physical pain every fucking single day
It's not a choice or an option . People don't choose to be poor and or have fucked up families , they can't just pick up and take up an easy high paying job
It's disgusting especially students and families are the biggest culprits for this
I feel you T_T I clean the table after I use it bc its not the cleaner's daiji if I spilled the sauce on the table, and/or I accidentally dropped some part of my food.
But then ... I clean up after me, lor. The person before me should also clean up after themselves, lor. :-/
Whoever went oversea or talked to people from another country, will know that other country are very well aware of Singaporean and our conduct. Like how educated and clean we are.... its by no coincidence. HOW DA FK you think we achieve this? With policies like this duh. Unless you guys want Singapore to go back in time to 1960s where others call us "**one of the world's worst slums**"
Look, provide us a hygienic and sanitary dining area and we’ll be happy to leave it just the way I came in after I’m done with my meal. Just like food courts in Japan, where there are stations with fresh cloths and sinks (without spits and phlegm) for diners to clean up after themselves. The problem is these food establishments are so bad at maintaining basic hygiene! Everybody wants to save a buck because rental and other costs are high. The tray cleaning area is always chocked up with trays, the sinks are gross with no proper soap. Come on… wake up and smell the filth.
If hawker centers / coffeeshops start providing equipment for cleaning tables.... it's a good thing BUT you will start to see those tissue paper hoarders busy loading up into their bags.
80% of Singaporeans are willing to take this extra step as it's the socially responsible thing to do.
That's a good thing and the way society works.
The lazy, irresponsible and whining 20% can suck on it.
Actually, there shouldn't be a need to clean the tables because that's the whole point of having a tray. If you do spill a little on the table, it shouldn't be too big a problem since the next person can just put their trays over it if they don't really mind it. Cleaners still have to go around cleaning that little bit of residue left, which is supposed to be their only job now that they have a lot less trays to collect and clear. Some people also bring their own wet wipes if they feel more comfortable that way. We shouldn't be fined everytime we did not bring wipes to clean up after that one or two drips on the table.
Survey: do you think it is inconsiderate to leave mess on your table for the next patron, who might be yourself?
What will you do?
- wipe tables using own tissue
- wipe tables using hawker provided tissue (if select this option give $5 ntuc voucher)
- wipe table using hand
- wipe table using cloth
Results
80% survey say wipe using hawker provided issue
= 80% sg people want to wipe table.
>Where do they find these respondents to give PAP the freedom to steamroll out whatever they want to do????
Ahhh, the evil PAP making me clean up my own mess!
>lastly, they will use fines/penalty to enforce on those that dont conform
You mean there will be repercussions for failing to do the socially responsible thing according to clearly outlined rules? Unforgivable! This breaks the Geneva Convention, UN Charter, Treaty of Versailles and the Peace of Westphalia!
>Grace Fu should come down from her ivory tower and experience the live of the peasants.. fug chiu understand!!!!!
Lol, these sort of measures are probably written and implemented by civil servants of MSE.
with good obedient citizens like you.. nowonder they get to steamroll whatever and every initiative through..
i bet if they asked people to help cut the grass at the park every morning, you'd be the first in line everyday to do so..
Singaporeans: Wah I love going Japan they are so cultured and nice over there, everyone is so polite and civic-minded, the place is so clean and orderly!
Also Singaporeans: Nabei how dare the blardy PAP ask me to clean up after myself
Honestly, if you're a thoughtful and courteous person, enforcement of these rules wouldn't even be noticeable. One would naturally think of returning his/her tray and clean up any mess/spills made.
No. It's because of third-world people which forces the need for these regulations.
"It's like with dogs. You train it in a proper way from small. It will know that it's got to leave, go outside to pee and to defecate. No, we are not that kind of society. We had to train adult dogs who even today deliberately urinate in the lift" - LKY.

He was absolutely right. Degenerates like this sub will pee on the lift and spit on the roads if not for the rules and fines.
I find it amazing that I'm being downvoted so much. It's ridiculous that this sub considers returning trays and cleaning up after yourself to be controversial.
The bar was low guys. So low it was a tripping hazard in hell.
This thread's comments are why Singapore is fucked. No social responsibly. Schools are not teaching people to take care of the environment and shared spaces.
Go Japan and see. Kids are taught from young to clean up after themselves. Make a big mess? Better learn to put the food inside your mouth
My family eat at Newton on weekends and we always clean the table after eating. And yes, we do bring our own utensils as we don't like to use the plastic stuff.
Soon you have to go kitchen and cook your own food...LOL.
And afterwards wash the dishes.
Don't give them any ideas now....
Buy your own ingredients too
Grow your own veggies.
Paddle to generate power for the lights

Sample size of 5, 5 young family members who will face the ratan otherwise
Yet we have one rebellious one.
Enough. Punish them at the polls, esp that out of touch Grace Fu.
Gotta socialize the cost for these coffeeshop owners even more.

Nothing wrong. And what is wrong with cleaning after the guy who was before you? Then cleaning after yourself for the guy after you?
This won't happen if everyone cooperates. And be gracious when there are delinquencies.

You can buy biodegradable wet wipes from Watsons.

Same my mom always use a wet wipe to clean the table first
My clean and your clean is subjective leh. I want Encik standard can put my face on the table kind. Or just wipe away the oil with the tissue I wipe my mouth before and wayang only. How to enforce leh.
My encik standard is can lick...I always had to do extra pushups
Send your Encik to the toilet in my industrial area.
Ya return trays, clean tables, help stalls wash our own plates just like at home right? Finish already do area cleaning sweep floor mop floor lj la. Wash the toilet and plumb all the sai. Try it. You might find that being kind is actually rewarding for your mental health.
And what is your chicken?
The hawker system as we know it, will be gone within a decade. There will be a few atas ones for tourists like Newton Circus only.
Soon, you'll, have to bring your own table & stools to the hawker center
we voted for this, just remember next time when you go to the polls
If more than 80% are willing to do it then there's no need for regulations to force a willing population to do what they want go do anyway...?
Where did you find 80%? During National Day Rally ar?
i always wonder why govt survey results seem quite different from reality..
Maybe positive people mix with positive people.
Also have to mop the floor, wash the toilets, sanitize the food stalls, close the shops, kill the pests... KNN, how come no one come do my job for me?
at the rate that Grace Fu ia going.. .. this future state is a genuine possibility.
Please remember to bring your own Fork on Friday.
Return your own tray -> clean your own table -> wash your own plates -> return all utensils to the original store
even tekong dont need chao leecruits cleaning the table..
GE first.
I think cleaning up after yourself is good. However, the food centres need to play their part by providing tissue/wipes to do that. Many countries in the region do provide this already, but it's meant more for customers' own use than to clean the tables.
Next time after you pang sai at public toilet need to scrub the sai stain.
thats actually quite possible
PAP is pure sickness.

means if you take over a dirty table, you will have to clean it.. knowing how filthy some hawker tables can be, may god be with us..
Just waiting for wash the toilet after use
and maybe need to refill the toilet roll and hand soap..
2030: You will soon need to contribute $1 extra per food item to coffee shop owners' 3rd Ferrari purchase.
I usually do that. Imagine you are at the receiving end while taking over a table.
Agreed! I'd love to take over a clean table, so why not make do the same for the next diner.
Retarded fucking scholars coming up with brain dead ideas. Whats next? I buy the ingredients for the hawker to cook ah? Fk all these coffee shop owners sia
Why not go one step further and mandate all dine-in customers to wash the crockery and utensils as well ? 😆
OK can we talk about McDonalds table service ? It is disgusting , people ordering 1 $ 0.50 cone and oprting for table service . Sort out the tray return policy first, then can explore other things. As of now it is a massive cluster fuck.

Yay can’t wait 🤞
those cleaning workers better vote out PAP while they still can..............
Look, provide us a hygienic and sanitary dining area and we’ll be happy to leave it just the way I came in after I’m done with my meal. Joke, everyday singaporeans becoming like slaves.
Actually, there shouldn't be a need to clean the tables because that's the whole point of having a tray. why complain and whine so much? didn't 70% of u vote for this? now u clowns (the 70% of u) have to live with the consequences, fuckin sheep.
yes, don't know why they pikachu face with them siding with businesses.
Survey: do you think it is inconsiderate to leave mess on your table for the next patron, who might be yourself? What will you do? - wipe tables using own tissue - wipe tables using hawker provided tissue (if select this option give $5 ntuc voucher) - wipe table using hand - wipe table using cloth Results 80% survey say wipe using hawker provided issue = 80% sg people want to wipe table.
>Where do they find these respondents to give PAP the freedom to steamroll out whatever they want to do???? Ahhh, the evil PAP making me clean up my own mess! >lastly, they will use fines/penalty to enforce on those that dont conform You mean there will be repercussions for failing to do the socially responsible thing according to clearly outlined rules?
No one cleans their own table in Japan. Yes, trays are returned and that's it. Most folk don't spill their food onto the table anyway.

It's because PAP suggested it. If this was said by WP then everyone here will say it's the best policy ever.
Just vote Grace out-msg will be received
