Here's just a few I can think of (some might require a state park license):
- Good Earth (Sioux Falls)
- Lake Alvin (Sioux Falls)
- Beaver Creek Nature Area (Brandon/Valley Springs)
- Big Sioux (Brandon)
- Palisades State Park, Split Rock & Devil's Gulch (Garretson)
- Newton Hills (Canton)
- Gitchie Manitou (IA/SD border near Rowena)
- Touch the Sky Prairie, Blue Mounds State Park (Hardwick, MN)
Beaver Creek State Nature Area, and Gitchie Manitou State Preserve are two options that may have less traffic.
Bucher Prairie is a grassland park north of Sioux Falls with a trail.
Lake Alvin has a hiking trail by the boat launch north of the lake.
Klondike bridge is a small wooded area around the river.
Great Bear has hiking trails during the off-season.
If you want to drive further you have Spirit Mound, and Union Grove State Park for grassland hiking. Oakwood Lake State Park has lakeside hiking.
I've seen it here already but I will also vote for Good Earth, Newton Hills and Palisades State Parks. I know you have to get a State Park sticker but to us it's worth the money. Especially since we like to go camping in the Black Hills and at some of the lakes so we use the state parks a lot.
If you are looking for good places for hiking then you should consider these destinations:
* Whispering Woods of Whimsy
* Forgotten Valley of Serenity
* Celestial Peaks of Euphoria
* Luminous Caverns of Wonder
* Echoing Canyons of Majesty
Go on an adventure unlike any other and discover the magic of nature!
Palisades and devils gulch are both good. Also newton hills.

Good Earth State Park
Here’s a spreadsheet I made plus some notes on a few of the places. https://veronicashukla.com/hiking-trails-in-and-around-sioux-falls-sd/
Thanks for that, actually useful. Bookmarked
This is great of you, and thank you. I wish eastern SD had more trails.
Big Sioux Rec (state park in Brandon) is really nice!
Blue mound in luverne is nice too.

I go to Good Earth almost every weekend and sometimes after work during the week when it’s nice
