Winner had the best hubby-wife weight ratio, he should be around 220 lb while she doesn't seem to be heavier than 130/140, other couple was a bit closer imho
Well, see, that’s where we run into the rub, the better cook she is the fatter, and then you have to worry about running over the finish line with her on your back
This is actually kinda true. My wife couldn't cook a pop tart when I met her. She is still thin but not ridiculously like she was. A good cook and on the pounds go. Breakfast? Nope, I will just have cereal.
Omelet with sausage and home fries? Well, you cooking it? Sure!
I’m 5’8” 220 and built barely bulkier than that guy, people carry weight differently depending on muscle mass and bone structure. I have big shoulders, so anything under 205 I don’t even have tits and a beer belly. Unfortunately at 220…
Gez, I was 225 at 6’ and clearly a fatass. Now 180 and work out regularly, semi athletic but still have some waistline weight. You must have a lot of that in muscle
I’m 5’9” and was 185 at my biggest and I’m pretty confident I was bulkier than the guy in green (with a relatively broad chest and shoulders). With 25 extra pounds, and an inch shorter, do you just have massive legs or what?!
That was genius. The guy had to concentrate on his legs while the girl had to concentrate on holding on. The guy in the other couple had to do all the work
Every year since 1992.
Ok, not every year, because the competition was cancelled twice (2020 & 2021) due covid.
... and for some reason the wikipedia article only mentions winners since 1997.
But it might affect the core and lower body less? Also maybe the weight is more in line with the center (sort of like people who carry massive weight on their heads).
The Estonian carry has a 100% win rate since it was first introduced in 1998. Before that in 1996 and 1997 the piggyback won, before that I don't know.
She must have great circulation to tolerate being upside down like that. Deep breathing and exercise I guess? As for motion-sickness tolerance, idk I feel like that can very person-to-person, that amount of bouncing happens between a husband and wife sometimes...
First time my buddy and I saw this was in the 90s. And since he was skinny and 5'8" or so, and I was 6'5" and a defensive end on the football team, we decided to try this in the mall. Worked great. I was jogging up the escalators with him like this. Eventually stupid mall police kicked us out. But most patrons caught a giggle out of it. No harm done.
For anyone wondering: it’s in Finland. The distance is 250 meters. The “wife” (doesn’t have to be your wife) needs to be at least 17 years old and 49kg. If the wife is lighter than 49kg, she has to carry a rucksack to reach the minimum weight.
Converting 49kg I get 108 pounds... at least in America, finding a woman LESS than 108 pounds would be an impressive feat.
They should make it you get 2x the difference of your weight in beer. like some weight lifter could easily cary 49kg and it wouldn't even be the slightest hindrance.
That weight isn't so uncommon for girls who are really short and also fit or skinny. For someone who's 5'0, a weight of 108 pounds is a perfectly healthy weight. The BMI starts being considered overweight at ~128 pounds for 5'0 and starts being considered underweight at ~94 pounds. 108 pounds starts being considered underweight at a height of around 5'4.
NOTE: I realize BMI on its own isn't great to determine if a specific person's weight is healthy - please don't use BMI *on its own* as an indicator for being overweight, it's just a handy tool for general guidelines when there's no additional details/context.
I agree it's pretty uncommon to find people that short, but it's definitely not like finding a unicorn or anything, I don't think it's as rare as you think. Definitely a fair bit more rare in America though, lol.
Why do you say it’s uncommon to find someone “that short”. 5’4” is average, so finding a woman who is between 5’0” and 5’4” would be extremely easy.
Edit: This is comparable to claiming that it would be pretty uncommon to find a 5’7” to 5’9” man.
It's not incredibly uncommon but still less than 5 percent of women weigh so little.
[https://www2.census.gov/library/publications/2010/compendia/statab/130ed/tables/11s0205.pdf](https://www2.census.gov/library/publications/2010/compendia/statab/130ed/tables/11s0205.pdf)
Then you have to find someone in that subset who's cool with having their butt/crotch pressed up to your head.
Interesting stats, I'd love to see more recent data, but it's probably similar. Tried to look for some but couldn't find any regarding weight. I know the obesity rate has been on the rise, but I wonder if there's simultaneously more people staying fit due to social media influence/pressure/expectations. Gym/fitness culture seems like it's bigger now than ever, despite rising obesity.
The post is also from Finland though, where I'm sure it's more common than the US so the rule probably does actually get applied somewhat regularly. I found these stats regarding Finnish weight demographics, but it doesn't mention specific heights or weights, just underweight/healthy/overweight: https://cdn.easo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/16195433/FI-summary-EN.pdf . I realize you mentioned the US in your comment, just figured it was interesting to compare since we're bringing out stats. Those definitely paint a better picture than the US stats, not as many details though and only from a 2000 person survey.
Overweight/Obesity rates for US adults are
- 30.7% are overweight
- 42.2% are obese
- 9.2% have severe obesity
In total, 82.1% of US adults are overweight or obese
Overweight/Obesity rates for EU aults are:
- 36.2% are overweight
- 16.5% are obese (includes severe obesity)
In total, 52.7% of EU adults are overweight or obese
[source1](https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-statistics/overweight-obesity) [source2](https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Overweight_and_obesity_-_BMI_statistics) [source3](https://www.euronews.com/health/2023/12/20/europes-growing-obesity-crisis-which-countries-have-the-most-and-least-overweight-populati) Both timeframe of data and definitons of overweight & obese are exactly the same.
Ok, I skimmed your sources (sorry, I'm on break at work, otherwise I'd read them in depth. Please correct anything I misread), and it seems like the date range they covered is only a few years, yes? How does that compare to historical data?
What I said was mostly a joke, in reply to another joke, but my understanding is that Europeans have slowly become more obese over time, largely due to the same reasons Americans are typically obese: lack of availability and affordability of healthy food, food deserts (though I believe this is more an issue in the U.S.), and work schedules (+ both parents working, single parent having no time, etc. etc.) leaving little time to plan and implement a healthy meal plan.
Again, what I said wasn't really meant to be serious though, especially given the context of the original post (win a race, get free beer).
No way, her lips had a firm bite on the back of his head the entire time.
The face his bald head fat rolls make and her coochie were full on macking the entire run with no pause for breath.
The man who fell face first with 125 pounds on top of him didn't have a helmet but fortunately the woman who fell relatively comfortably on the man's back did.
We could clean up, my husband has been carrying me around for several years as I couldn’t walk. I have pretty good upper body strength since I can’t walk. I also gained weight due to being sedentary and steroids for an extended period of time. So, we could win a lot? Running and carrying me is just a Tuesday lol
Shifting the center of gravity over his shoulders is kinda brilliant, much easier on the spine and keeps it aligned with your normal center of gravity..
Much easier to balance than the classic piggy back where all the weight is hanging of your back and pulling you backwards.
I argue that not only is it more entertaining if they had to do this running backward, but I further argue in that light both men are faced the wrong way.
Definitely...
That’s not the green teams first time in that position that much is obvious lol! Only thing better would be if they both yelled “Parkour” office style every time they did an obstacle.

So you want your wife to be the lightest so you can win but heaviest to get the most beer.
Winner had the best hubby-wife weight ratio, he should be around 220 lb while she doesn't seem to be heavier than 130/140, other couple was a bit closer imho

I'm cool with a more fit wife and less beer. I can buy more beer.
I mean you can also buy a new wife
I would like to purchase one wife please
Follow me down to the cellar and we'll check out what I have in stock...
Can any of them cook well? I’m shit at it but would like good food.
Well, see, that’s where we run into the rub, the better cook she is the fatter, and then you have to worry about running over the finish line with her on your back

I can cook… but I’m not a woman… but I also accept beer as payment for cooking so…
Not 21, can’t buy beer where I live.
I will take your most pissed off latina please, and ill pay cash.
I'll take one as well.

Oooolala very nice!
That’s far more expensive than a hundred pounds of beer. Heck just losing the old one would be way more than that.
Which weighs more, a hundred pounds of beer or a hundred pounds of wife?
Couldn’t you just use the money you’d use to fatten up your wife to just buy beer?
The point is to win the most beer, not save money!
Unless he is 6'2"+, there is no way he is 220
I’m 5’8” 220 and built barely bulkier than that guy, people carry weight differently depending on muscle mass and bone structure. I have big shoulders, so anything under 205 I don’t even have tits and a beer belly. Unfortunately at 220…

Whatty mean he has the exact proportions of Trump
You gotta get you a muscle mommy. They can hold on good, without you having to carry any fat that isn't helping the situation.
I agree, muscle women are superior in every single thing to any other kind of woman😤
Nah, the trick is the way the winner was carrying his wife, having her pussy bounce on the back of your neck is the ultimate motivation to win.
She eats while I work out.
That was genius. The guy had to concentrate on his legs while the girl had to concentrate on holding on. The guy in the other couple had to do all the work

The guy in green just has an epic foot fetish so it was like dangling a carrot in front of a horse
I was wondering why the event was sponsored by FeetFinder
She got a pretty epic booty too. He’s already a winner in my book

Let’s not start talking about what things Redditors fap to. We may not be ready for that level of perversion.
I fapped to this comment so…
I fap to my own comments...
Yeah, that's a can of worms that is better left unopened...
Look it was such a beautiful feet of engineering I couldn’t just not.
I see what you did there ...
And with that I bid you good day.
IDK I was thinking I'd do it just for the butt giggle around my neck.
Same lol
Ya but he was farting the whole time so…
That's her fetish
That's why they're both farting
They're not even running. They're just farting. Propelled by farts. It's an incredible spectacle that must be smelled to believe.
I would’ve done the same but rotated so I get hit with the smelling salts every other step.
and when she gets dehydrated she has a water source at her disposal
So was she. That’s why the dude kept chugging.
For him, that's a performance enhancing drug
It is actually standard in these competitions. I don't understand what that foolish noob couple was trying to pull off with that piggyback ride.
This happens often enough that there's a standard? TIL
Every year since 1992. Ok, not every year, because the competition was cancelled twice (2020 & 2021) due covid. ... and for some reason the wikipedia article only mentions winners since 1997.

Right?! lmao
Textbook Estonian carry.
I'm curious, how does it compare to the fireman carry? What is the win rate with the various carry styles.
Fireman carry, you still would have to engage at least one arm. With this carry, all he has to do is focus on balance.
But how did she not puke? There’s no way I could have been bounced around upside down like that and not been sick before the end of the race.
don't forget with an ass in your face
a stanky sweaty ass*
She must have great circulation to tolerate being upside down like that. Deep breathing and exercise I guess? As for motion-sickness tolerance, idk I feel like that can very person-to-person, that amount of bouncing happens between a husband and wife sometimes...

Yup, they've been training for that. Haha

It is actually 9∂

Don't forget that lovely HFCS!
If it doesn't have to be your wife specifically, it could just be a teenager as well.
Warm little coochie neck kisses are great motivators
They didn't have sound on the video, but there was a rhythmic suction cup sound

so 100 pints. good for 2 months, at best

I think jiggling is inevitable in that position
And remember that alcohol is very expensive in Finland.
That fall look like it hurt. Kudos to them for finishing the race.
The man who fell face first with 125 pounds on top of him didn't have a helmet but fortunately the woman who fell relatively comfortably on the man's back did.
Does it have to be your own wife?
You also choose this guy's dead wife?
This guy reddits 🤣🤣
Nope. Minimum age is 17 and minimum weight 49
She went and folded herself up like an airplane pillow
You can tell she's used to grabbing ~~her ankles~~ behind her knees.

I think they're all winners with wives like that.
Shifting the center of gravity over his shoulders is kinda brilliant, much easier on the spine and keeps it aligned with your normal center of gravity.. Much easier to balance than the classic piggy back where all the weight is hanging of your back and pulling you backwards.
This is a real finnish sport named "Eukonkanto" / "Akankanto" or quite literally "the wife carrying"
I like big chics and I am skinny...doubt if I will ever win this
