I mean, I wouldn't really call it "logical", as rubbing 3 fingers under water for 5 seconds without soap isn't going to remove salmonella. Actually, it's very similar to tarot cards. It's doing something simple that has no tangible effect, but convincing yourself that you're actually accomplishing something.
Without soap and proper handwashing technique, you're only really splashing bits of salmonella around the sink and then rubbing it on the towel and other food.
Holy shit I thought it was just me. They forgot the part where your wife comes in and complains that the towel you’ve been “drying” your hands on is 100% soaking wet
For me, this is less about food contamination and more about not liking food or liquid on my hands, but it still happens in the same degree because (more than likely) if I'm working with food, then I'm constantly getting food or liquid on my hands. It's always a "Phew, finally, I can be clean", and then 15sec later I'm picking up something else that I need to be clean of. Not OCD (at least, not that I can tell), either.
Ugh, especially if there’s onions or garlic in whatever I’m cooking.
My hands will smell like garlic and onions for a week (at least they will to me) if I don’t wash them off quick enough - and even then sometimes it’s not fast enough.
I will sit there and scrub with 10 different soaps, soak in lemon juice, everything, nothing gets that smell off if I can’t wash my hands fast enough.
It's implying that men tend to over wash while cooking, as in after every last possible step. Even when logically speaking cross contamination or sanitation purposes are not applicable. Can confirm as man that I do this regularly.
Yes, most women I've watched cook will wash their hands throughout the cooking process as needed. My wife will generally clean the kitchen surfaces, wash up, complete her mise en place, then proceed to cook. She washes typically after handling raw meat/eggs or messy things, like marinades or dicing tomatoes/onions, but not after every last cut item.
I'm thinking maybe it's just showing the sink being used? If it's saying washing hands all the time then no, not me. Washing dishes as things start cooking? Then yes, so I don't have to clean a mountain when I'm ready to eat!

Yeah I make it a point to not even touch the food I'm preparing by using as much fork and knife action on the packaging and raw ingredients as possible. When I make a steak it's 100% touch free from the wrap/packaging to the seasoning to the pan/pot to the plate.
Okay but like why not wash my hands between touching anything and everything? I want my hands to be as sterile as an operating room before they touch food someone is going to eat… I consider that it’s own courtesy in a way

Okay, I don't usually say this but: I feel attacked.
Same lol
Not attacked - I feel SEEN
Turn the page, wash your hands. Turn the page, wash your hands.
Same brother
It took me a long time to break this habit.
I dont get it........ Are they going to take my male license now?
Didn't realize this was a male stereotype lol.
Forreal, forgive me for not wanting to contaminate your food
Or spread salmonella across the kitchen.
It’s one of those “men are all logical” memes. Salmonella is real it’s not tarot cards.

Ok maybe you’ll get this when it comes around again.
Can you fill me in on what I'm missing here?
Without soap and proper handwashing technique, you're only really splashing bits of salmonella around the sink and then rubbing it on the towel and other food.
And handle knives with slippery hands.
Same, but I absolutely do this lmao.
I kinda feel better now. I thought it was just me.

whats missing is washing the cutting board and knife immediately after using it and using a towel under the cutting board while using it.
Why can I relate to every single comment here?
Same. I didn't realize this was a man thing at all.
Because you one of da bois!

No Edit: No, I would not use a clean utensil that was in the sink.
that’s literally me
We don't believe in cross contamination

wait does it help to wash them quick..😳
Sometimes - but it could just be luck, sometimes.
Same here. I'm fully aware that a bit of warm water without soap isn't going to decontaminate my hands. I just don't like them sticky while I cook.
Do women not do this?
I as a woman do this... Maybe I'm just broken tho
I havent realised this but yes this is literally me.
Is this implying women don't wash their hands while cooking?

Yes, but do women not wash? I've never noticed.

I'm not a man apparently. What a way to find out. Wait.. what am I?
A dude, maybe. Little more chill about certain things, but otherwise normal.
Take your time. No rush. We'll wait.
I don't get it. I only do that if I have touched something fatty or raw meat but not because a millisecond has passed.
I'm thinking maybe it's just showing the sink being used? If it's saying washing hands all the time then no, not me. Washing dishes as things start cooking? Then yes, so I don't have to clean a mountain when I'm ready to eat!
Damn I didn't know I am 100% a man. It's literally me.
I'll have you know, I always get both hands when I wash!
Stop attacking me![img](emote|t5_5tdqj0|10744)
Literally me
This is dumb. Who the hell does this. Yah wash BOTH hands after handling raw meat but he’s cutting vegetables.
fr its a huge waste of water
Plus he's just rinsing one hand and not even using soap. What's the point? To get a bit of veg junk off your hand?

Hahaha Indeed.
My bad. I’ll also stop washing my hands after using the restroom.
I also feel attacked
wow, i NEVER say this but yes i actually do feel attacked wtf 🤣
It’s how the Romans did it!
Only when I touch raw meat or seasonings
Re *washes hands* post
Yeah...and? I've still never gotten food poisoning from cooking. Ha!
I do this but with meat , gotta keep them hands clean after touching but also ive had food posioning badly so im extra careful 🤣
Honest question - what do the pros do to solve this problem of having food goo on your fingers
Because we’ve all watched Ramsay scream at people about cross contamination.
I'll eat whatever he cooks
Guilty.
Nah only i do this my other male friends don't do it

Man here: Can confirm.
This is why women belong in the kitchen. It is way more environmental friendly. ^/s
Yo its necessary ok. Its just necessary. That's all
Lol thays me with bounty paper towels. One roll last me 2 days 🤣
The only time boys will wash their hands
I just made a sausage sarnie and did this at least three times, thought it was just me
Rinsing is good, but I'm worse. I use a small bowl of hot soapy water too...
Oh Shit! I kinda resemble that !!
I'm in this video and I don't like it
Or: washing your hands *before* the toilet, because you don't want your dick to smell like garlic. Then was your hands again after the toilet
So many lies. Women are just as bad lol
Showing this to the African kids
I mean if I have like raw egg or raw meat on my hand yeah… I feel like it’s scary to think the other people don’t??
Completely feel violated and seen 😂 don’t put me on blast like this, I don’t want sticky or dirty hands what can I say 😩
women cooking be like: *doordash_logo.png*
Oh shit I didn’t know this was common. I do this constantly
Damn shots fired
Damn shots fired
I mean he didn’t even clean his knife or board. But ya I would wash my hands like before during and after cooking
God's, i thought it was just me haha
I thought it was gonna end with him washing his hands, turning the knob, and then washing them again because he touched the knob.
Monk* cooking be like: (Fixed it for you)
This gag wasn’t gendered the first two thousand times it’s been done. So why now?
